A study on women's perspectives on and identification with the word "feminist". Includes assessment by demographics, and a look at how women benefit from past feminist advocacy, and where work still needs to be done.
Postmodern feminism refers to the feminist theory system that is inclusive of postmodern ideals
and post-structuralism theory. In this regard, it is believed that postmodern feminism goes past
modernist polarity of open-minded and far-reaching feminism. Various forms of entertainment
media have been out to use by postmodern feminists for purposes of furthering their ideologies.
The effect of this is influence of feminist studies that intersect sexuality, race, gender and race
issues. Film and TV are among the media widely used for purposes of furthering intersecting
roles.

Feminism is a range of political movements, ideologies, and social movements that share a common goal: to define, establish, and achieve political, economic, personal, and social rights for women that are equal to those of men.[1][2] This includes seeking to establish equal opportunities for women in education and employment. Feminists typically advocate or support the rights and equality of women.

Feminism and Gender Equality around the worldIpsos UK
On the eve of International Women’s Day, new data from Ipsos Global @dvisor shows that although the vast majority in 24 countries around the world say they believe men and women should be treated equally (88% on average), most still think the current situation is one of inequality in terms of social, political and/or economic rights (72% on average). Women though are more positive when it comes to their own lives – six in ten on average agree they have “full equality with men in their country and the freedom to reach their full dreams and aspirations” – although this still means that in several countries many women disagree.
The (non)sense of gender-free in conversational AI - Women in voice Netherlan...Marion Mulder
(Why) should technology have a gender?
Why are all voice devices female? Is that actually a bad thing? And what does this do to/for how we perceive women and gender equality? Is this making an improving for all of us or should we be concerned about something?
On 20 January I gave a presentation at the Women in Voice Netherlands (online) meetup about #genderfreetech, how I see it and what I've learned from both being in tech and diversity & inclusion for years as well as insights I got from ready a series of really good books on this subject.
Here you find my presentation addressing the following topics:
* What do I mean by Gender-Free; I’ll take you along on my journey of exploration
* Does everything need to be gender-neutral? Spoiler alert: Hell NO!
* That ‘thing’ about gender; what’s going on? why is that? Symptoms & underlying causes. In short: Bias and by Binary Thinking
* Opportunities & Possible Solutions
Want to know more about it, or want to create positive change? Feel free to contact me. I'd be happy to present, give workshops or work with you on co-creating great technology solutions that benefit everyone.

Havas Group Prosumer Report - The Future is FeMaleHavas Media
Gender is a hot-button issue in 2017, with gender-related controversies multiplying around the world. But will there come a time when gender is regarded as no more important than a person’s height, handedness, or hair color? Based on the findings of Havas Group’s recent survey of more than 12,000 people in 32 countries and the accompanying “The Future Is FeMale” report, a nongendered future may be in the cards.
The 32-nation survey, commissioned by the Havas Group and fielded by Market Probe International, sought to measure how far gender equality has come in an era when women in most parts of the world are able to do things once considered the province of men, including work outside the home, earn high school and college degrees, vote, own property, and hold elected office.

In a May 9, 2024 paper, Juri Opitz from the University of Zurich, along with Shira Wein and Nathan Schneider form Georgetown University, discussed the importance of linguistic expertise in natural language processing (NLP) in an era dominated by large language models (LLMs).
The authors explained that while machine translation (MT) previously relied heavily on linguists, the landscape has shifted. “Linguistics is no longer front and center in the way we build NLP systems,” they said. With the emergence of LLMs, which can generate fluent text without the need for specialized modules to handle grammar or semantic coherence, the need for linguistic expertise in NLP is being questioned.
