2. Combining EA and SOA with BPM strategies
"An organisation must have an idea, a concept, about where it wants to go with
knowledge management, how it’s going to get there, and what it’s going to do
to implement KM in a consistent, sustainable and measurable way to achieve
better operational or business performance . . . that is the promise of knowledge
management.” Bill Kaplan, Founder, Working KnowledgeCSP
"Knowledge and Information Management technologies are pervasive
throughout organisations of all sizes, types, and industries. An inordinate number
of these organisations have struggled to successfully select, design, build, and
maintain these systems." Zach Wahl, CEO, Enterprise Knowledge (EK)

The learning model – peer assists is an excellent idea – social, can be framed as others
helping peers and provides a good entrée into capturing the learning.. This was the
golden nugget for me!

Good advice on ‘how to’. Great work!

Fantastic session!
3. The CSP Model Workshop is designed to walk with you through the
considerations you will need to understand and the thinking necessary
to develop a KM Strategy and KM Environment (KME) that is a match
for your organisation. Each organisation has a different Business
and Operational Environment (BOE) as well as a unique culture and
workforce dynamic.
As we work through the CSP
Model, you should be reflecting
on your organisation and how to
apply the model in your context.
We will take time in each section for you to do this and to ask questions.
At the completion of the Workshop, you should have a much better
idea about how to approach the development of a KM Strategy and
create a KME that is aligned with your BOE that is also part of the way work gets done.
When KM is part of the business and operational processes of the organisation, it is not
viewed as extra work. This is critical to sustaining the organisation’s investment in KM
and “Creating Value from Your Knowledge.”
There are three sections to the Module:
• Concept: Understanding (1) the future state that you wish to achieve from leveraging
“what you know about what you do” to improve business or operational performance,
and (2) the outcome that you wish to achieve through your investment in Knowledge
Management (KM).
• Strategy: Any KM investment should be grounded in the overall strategic plan of
your organisation. Developing a KM Strategy and codifying this as part of the overall
strategic plan helps to embed KM as an achievable and valued business objective
that is supported by leadership.
• Practice: Identifying and implementing the relevant KM practices, tools, and
techniques that you will embed in your organisation as "part of the way you work" to
consistently capture, adapt, transfer, and reuse the critical and relevant knowledge
needed to drive your strategic outcomes.
