ceive honorable mention in the New Testament as devout and fruitful
servants of the Lord.
From that time until now, in every generation there have been such wo-
men; Christian wives, godly mothers, Missionaries, Queens in the Parson-
ages, dedicated single women, teachers in schools, camps, VBS's, many
musicians (from Philip's daughters in Acts 21:9 to current great sing-
ers of Gospel song), who have glorified God and served the Son in praise-
worthy ways. We would like to give some living examples from our area:

Anna Rae grew up in a Christian home in Kentucky. She and her husband John
Manges have served together in the ministry for many years. The longest was with the
Christian Church in Petersburg, Indiana. Now semi-retired they stiH minister to the
Vincent Christian Church . They have five children and thirteen grandchildren.

She attended Cincinnati Bible Seminary, Lincoln Christian College, and graduated
from Oakland City College. She received her Master's Degree in Education with an
endorsement in Learning Disabilities from Indiana State University. Before retirement
she taught for fifteen years in Washington, Indiana.

For some time she has been a speaker for women's events in this area. She has
developed seminars and printed materials on topics like: "Joyful Hearts", "Modesty for
Christian Women", "How Beautiful Heaven Must Be", and "It Is Well With My Soul".

In the last 15 years she has helped organize and lead 3 tours to the Lands of the Bible.

We are pleased to call attention to the ministries of these sisters in
the Lord. We have chosen them as samples of the rich and rewarding ser-
vices dedicated Christian women have provided and are continuing to pro-
vide. Kingdom Women indeed! The August issue of CHRISTIANITY TODAY car-
ries a challenging article entitled "Why Women Want Moore" concerning the
public teaching ministry of Beth Moore. In a recent appearance in Spring-
field, Illinois the newspaper release reported:

"Before she begins, she addresses the few men in the crowd. A
Southern Baptist, Moore emphasizes that her ministry is intended
for women, and that while the men are welcome, she has no desire
to have any authority over them.
How correct of her, how sane, and how scriptural! Could she preach &
teach to men? Of course she could. It has never been a question of a.-
bility, but of suitability. Could Phebe, Dorcas, or Priscilla have been
public preacher/teachers in N.T. times? Could there have been a female
Apostle? Of course there could have been. But were there? No, there was
not. The Bible plainly forbids it ((I Cor. 13:33,34 and I Tim. 2:12-15).
And yet that same Apostle Paul commends the women who "labored in the gos-
pel" with him (Phil 4:3) ,which proves there is important gospel work dis-
tinct from the public preaching that he limits to men.
The above women, and many more like them, should be held in high honor
and recognized for the special ministry they perform. So we do!
