3. The Solar System The Sun and the planets are part of the Solar System . The Sun is at the centre of the Solar System. The Sun is a star . It is our main source of heat and light energy.

4. The Planets There are nine planets in our Solar System. They are (in order of distance from the sun): Mercury , Venus , Earth , Mars , Jupiter , Saturn , Uranus , Neptune and Pluto . The planets move in orbits around the sun.

5. Other objects in the Solar System There are other objects in the Solar System that orbit the Sun. These include asteroids and comets .
