SHIVNAGAR –BANDHUAKALAN (10 KM)

Doubling of railway line means construction of
an additional line.
The doubling of Utraitia - Sultanpur-Zafrabad
project is for diverting freight traffic from
Mughalsarai - Allahabad - New Delhi route so as
to provide room for additional coaching traffic
to be introduced in near future .
Specific section of 10 kms length between
Shivnagar and Bandhuakalan has been selected
for the project.
INTRODUCTION
OBJECTIVE
To eradicate mounting pressure of rail traffic.
To get the optimum benefit from the modern
maintenance machines.
To cope up with the additional requirement to
traffic.
The need to divert rail traffic from one route
to another due to accident /mishap, or any
other unforeseen reason.
To reduce initial costs of a line that is certain
to see heavy traffic in the future.

FUTURE SCOPE
ADVANTAGES
Soil report may be used as a reference for other
civil project near the site of project.
Topographical survey data can be used for
similar projects near the site for design of any
other structure.
The traffic survey cab help in proper
maintenance and future developments in the
concerned area.
The continuation of this project will help in
understanding the use of new technologies
employed for this purpose.
It can manage a larger amount of traffic with
usually twice the capacity of single track.
Faster trains can overtake slower ones, and
doubling can contribute to faster operation of
trains.
It is easy to maintenance and engineering work
Provision of alternate routes would reduce
Pressure on existing network .
LIMITATION
Costs more due to requiring more materials and
increased land acquisition costs.

The doubling of Utraitia - Sultanpur-Zafrabad project is for diverting freight traffic from Mughalsarai - Allahabad - New Delhi route so as to provide room for additional coaching traffic to be introduced in near future . Specific section of 10 kms length between Shivnagar and Bandhuakalan has been selected for the project. INTRODUCTION OBJECTIVE To eradicate mounting pressure of rail traffic. To get the optimum benefit from the modern maintenance machines. To cope up with the additional requirement to traffic. The need to divert rail traffic from one route to another due to accident /mishap, or any other unforeseen reason. To reduce initial costs of a line that is certain to see heavy traffic in the future. Topographical survey data can be used for similar projects near the site for design of any other structure. The traffic survey cab help in proper maintenance and future developments in the concerned area. The continuation of this project will help in understanding the use of new technologies employed for this purpose. It can manage a larger amount of traffic with usually twice the capacity of single track. Faster trains can overtake slower ones, and doubling can contribute to faster operation of trains. It is easy to maintenance and engineering work Provision of alternate routes would reduce Pressure on existing network . Rail and fastenings 60 kg (UIC), 90 UTS rails Fish Plates 1 M Long new fish plates with six holes of standard type Fish bolts and nuts 130x25mm new fish bolts with Hexagonal nuts Sleepers and fastenings MAIN LINE: PRC sleepers complete with elastic fastenings to M+ 8 (1660 no. per Km) densities. Points and Crossings 60kg rail with curved switches laid on fan shaped PSC sleepers Ballast 65mm gauge hard stone Machine Crushed ballast with cushion of 350mm on main line and 250 mm on loop line Guard Rails 52 Kg rails resting on PSC sleepers have been provided on all major bridges.
