These slides will cover the essential characteristics of cloud computing in the data center. Why should you consider adopting cloud architecture? We'll show you.
Global Media Exchange: Work of the ETC By Christine Thomas of DolbyETCenter
The network is critical as file sizes increase. We will talk about how the ETC Transport work stream is working to simplify networking, and create a Global Media Exchange. The effort includes ondemand SDN and contracts that are OPEX (on demand) as opposed to locked in long term agreements.
The Evolving Data Center Network: Open and Software-DefinedDell World
Can the network be managed as easily and cost-effectively as a server or PC? We think so. That is why Dell is working to make this possible through our Open Networking initiative. In this session, learn how Dell can help you move to a software-defined network and make your data center more agile and efficient. We will discuss new open networking platforms ranging from 1GbE to 100GbE with next-generation, multi-rate architectures and a choice of operating systems. We will also explore how these new network solutions from Dell help enable private/hybrid cloud, Hadoop, convergence, and VDI implementations.

We explore some of the top benefits of data center colocation, and why it is a very big deal for your business. If your current data center is becoming too costly, is running low on expandable space, or lacks redundancy, then colocation is a very good option to consider.
Some of the benefits include:
-Higher redundancy levels
-CAPEX savings
-Better scalability and room to grow
If colocation is something you are beginning to consider for your business, we encourage you to read through this presentation to learn more! It's definitely one of the most worthwhile business decisions you can make.

New end user standards of satisfaction are forcing the traditional data center network structure to change. This presentation discusses the new multi-tiered structure that will define data center networks in the coming years.
WORPLCOUD LTD provides high density hosting and colocation services inside an ISO 27001 certified Technology Campus to organisations seeking to deploy their server infrastructure in a secure environment.
The Technology Campus covers over 50,000 square feet and is comprised of two Tier 3 equivalent ISO 27001 certified data centre and a separate Business Continuity Centre that supports the quick resumption of organisations "mission critical" business functions and IT processes through the provision of workplace recovery seats.
WORPCLOUD is on a special mission to provide companies and organisations in fast growing developing countries such as India, Brazil, and South Africa; the same reliable, secure and fast technology solutions that western companies leverage. All at an extremely competitive prices across the entire range of our digital services.
Concept of edge computing is to leverage new generation technologies, processes, services, and applications that are built to take an advantage of new infrastructure.
Put processing closer to the edge of the network pre-process data and send to the cloud.
the practice of aggregating computing power in a way that delivers much higher performance than one could get out of a typical desktop computer or workstation Used in order to solve large problems in science, engineering, or business.
Easily confused with cloud-computing, virtualization is actually the software that powers cloud computing. VMware separates physical infrastructures and turns them into dedicated resources. It also allows multiple OS to run on the same server simultaneously. The purpose of virtualization is to reduce the cost of acquiring and maintaining multiple physical resources.

★ Session Summary ★
For decades we have been able to take advantage of Moore’s Law to improve single thread performance, reduce power and cost with each generation of semiconductor technology. While technology has advanced after the end of Dennard scaling more than 10 years ago, the advances have slowed down. Server performance increases have relied on increasing core counts and power budgets.
At the same time, workloads have changed in the era of cloud computing. Scale out is becoming more important than scale up. Domain specific architectures have started to emerge to improve the energy efficiency of emerging workloads like deep learning
This talk will provide a historical perspective and discuss emerging trends driving the development of modern servers processors.

GDG Cloud Southlake #33: Boule & Rebala: Effective AppSec in SDLC using Deplo...James Anderson
Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.
