The nervous system controls and regulates the functions of the body. It has three main parts: the brain, spinal cord, and nerves. The central nervous system consists of the brain and spinal cord and processes information from the body. The peripheral nervous system is made up of nerves branching from the spinal cord to all parts of the body and relays information between the brain and rest of the body. It has sub-parts that control involuntary functions and regulate movement.
