  • 3. Middle Ages ended with the discovery of the Americas in 1492. Modern Age Time of discovery: lasted 300 years ended with the French Revolution in 1789

  • 10.  When Fernando succeeded to the throne of Aragón in 1479 SPAIN IN 1492: DURING MIDDLE AGES FERNANDO AND ISABEL united the two kingdoms: creating one large powerful Christian kingdom 1492 Fernando and Isabel defeated the Muslims in Granada Gained control of Las Islas Canarias, Melilla and other important ports in the Mediterranean 1496 Pope gave them the title Los Reyes Católicos
  • 11. SPAIN IN 1492: BEG. MODERN AGE The monarchs of Europe began to take power away from the nobles. In Spain: REYES CATÓLICOS took control of: army, economy and government. Built: strong unified army and controlled the country´s economy
