THE MATTER
THE MATTER
What is matter?
Everything that has a place in the space.
GENERAL PROPERTIES
 All the things that are matter have
these 2 properties:
- Mass
- Volume
MASS
 DEFINITION: It’s the quantity of matter
 INSTRUMENT: Scale or balance
 UNIT OF MEASURAMENT: KILOGRAMES
VOLUME
 DEFINITION: The volume is the space that
ocuppies a body
 INSTRUMENT: graduated container
 UNIT OF MEASURAMENT: LITRES
SPECIFIC PROPERTIES:
 HARDNESS: It is difficult to scratch
 FLEXIBILITY: It can be deformed and then it can
recover the same shape
 FRAGILITY: It is easy to break
 DENSITY: the relation between mass and volume
EXAMPLES
