The Joy Luck Club Essay
Writing an essay on "The Joy Luck Club" can be both challenging and rewarding. The novel by
Amy Tan delves into intricate themes such as cultural identity, generational conflicts, and the
complex relationships between mothers and daughters. The multifaceted narrative structure,
alternating between the perspectives of different characters, adds an additional layer of
complexity to the analysis.
One of the difficulties lies in navigating the cultural nuances presented in the book. The story
unfolds against the backdrop of Chinese-American immigrant experiences, and capturing the
essence of these cultural intricacies requires a careful understanding of both Chinese and
American perspectives. The cultural clash and fusion within the characters' lives demand a
nuanced exploration, making it challenging to strike a balance in the essay.
Furthermore, examining the intricate mother-daughter relationships portrayed in the novel
requires a deep dive into the characters' motivations, fears, and desires. Each character has a
unique voice and story, and weaving these together to form a coherent analysis can be a
demanding task.
Crafting a thesis that encapsulates the overarching themes of the novel while providing fresh
insights is another hurdle. Given the extensive critical analysis available on "The Joy Luck Club,"
finding a unique angle or perspective that adds value to the existing discourse can be a
formidable challenge.
Despite these challenges, the process of unraveling the layers of "The Joy Luck Club" can be
immensely rewarding. Exploring the novel's rich symbolism, character development, and cultural
commentary offers an opportunity for intellectual growth and a deeper understanding of the
complexities presented in the narrative.
In conclusion, writing an essay on "The Joy Luck Club" demands careful consideration of
cultural elements, character dynamics, and thematic depth. While the journey may be arduous,
the insights gained and the skills honed in the process make it a worthwhile endeavor for those
seeking a profound understanding of literature.

An Unknown Disease Caused By Microorganisms
Introduction Whenever there is an unknown disease caused by microorganisms,
tests are usually made in order to identify the organism causing the disease. There
are several tests that need to be made and they include tests such as performing a
gram stain, streaking a plate to isolate colonies, inoculating a broth culture,
inoculating API strip, and performing oxidase and catalase tests. Having
knowledge on how to identify these tests are of high importance in the medical
field so it would be to the advantage of those individuals who know how to examine
microorganisms and be able to identify it by correctly performing tests on
organisms. To begin with, a good way to get exposed to tests that will be needed
by people entering the medical field would be to perform practice test like being
assigned an Unknown that students could identify by performing tests. The
Unknown that was assigned to me for example was Unknown #22. In order to
identify Unknown #22 I had to perform several test and make sure that all the
results matched with each other to be sure that I had performed my tests right. The
goal of my experiment is to learn how to properly perform tests on an Unknown
organism and be able to identify it. By learning to identify a specific
microorganism and performing various testing techniques I will be able to identify
a microorganism if required when I am working in the medical field. When a
microorganism is identified, the doctors job is made easier because they are able to

A Common Question About My Parent s Nationality
A common question people like to ask is Where are you from? I ve always
wrestled with how to properly answer this question. I didn t know if I should
answer with my birth place, my parent s nationality or the area I spent most of
premature life at. My family have moved a lot over our life time, so much that
people started to question if my parents where in the military moving from base to
base. But they weren t, my parents emigrated from Nigeria to America in the mid
1980 s. Their first stop in America was Dallas, Texas. In Dallas my mother gave
birth to both of my older sisters. My family struggled for a well before I was born.
My mother worked as a cleaning lady in a hotel and my father was an ice cream
man driver. After 7 years of the hot state which is Texas, my parents decide to go
north and move to Minneapolis, Minnesota in pursuit of having better education
and career options, so they could properly take care of the family. On September,
24, 1994 I was born in Children s Hospital of Minneapolis, Minnesota, but nearly a
year later my family was the road again. After I turned 1 years old, I and my family
move to Tulsa, Oklahoma. We came to Tulsa because both my parents once again
found better career jobs as Nurses. I spent a short amount of time in Tulsa. I started
preschool at key elementary. I made good friends in my preschool but those
friendships where short loved because after I turned about 4 years old, me and my
family where back on the road again. This time

A Biological Family In Kingsolver s The Bean Trees
Everyone has a biological family, but sometimes people give up their children or
when children grow up they sometimes decide to leave this biological family. But,
this does not mean that these children have given up a family forever. According to
dictionary.com, a family is a group consisting of parents and children living together
in a household . This definition generates the idea that familydoes not have to be
biological. In The Bean Trees, Kingsolver uses the intimacy between the character to
suggest the idea that non biological families can be as strong or even stronger than
biological ones.
The connection to Taylor s heritage helps to create a sense of family and belonging
when she is in Cherokee nation. When she first leaves home, Taylor drives through
Cherokee nation which, reminds her of her heritage and family so she decides to
write a letter to her mom. On the postcard, she writes: No offense, but the
Cherokee Nation is crap. Headed west. Love, M (16). This shows the connection
between her and the Cherokees. When she writes Cherokee Nation is crap it shows
how she is leaving her heritage and family behind. Also, she says headed west ,
this indicates her continuing her journey which can foreshadow to a new family or
heritage. While she is in Cherokee Nation Taylor is coming out of a bar and she
suddenly receives a child. When Taylor first begins her journey she receives a baby
in the middle of nowhere, and she thinks I can take this Indian child back
Race As A Social Construct
Race as a social construct refers to a group that is socially and culturally defined on
the basis of physical criteria. During European colonisation, Europeans came into
contact with people from different areas of the world and after speculating the
physical, cultural and social differences between the groups; these groups were
placed in races. By defining racial classifications, racismensues. Racism is
discriminating, exerting prejudice and or power over a group or individual based on
the belief that an individual s group is superior to another. Shadism is dependant
upon the existence of Racism. Shadism refers to the amount of melanin in a person s
skin, which is used to define a persons worth within that racial category.
Shadism and Racism are both a large part in Hollywood and the casting process.
There has been a recent concentration online on institutional racism in Hollywood;
social media movements have brought attention towards, the casting process and the
lack of diversity at the Oscars. The persistent snubbing of people of colour (POC) in
Hollywood is being recognised. However, has this changed the representation of POC
in films?
The upcoming biography, drama, Nina (2016) has been the centre of much
controversy and has consequently, brought about conversations regarding shadism
and blackface. In the trailer for the film, actress Zoe Saldana plays Nina alongside
her onscreen personal assistant David Oyelowo. The trailer received a large amount
of criticism due
Descriptive Essay About Makeup
Women have been wearing makeup for years. Throughout the years, I transform
myself into celebrities I look up too. To transform into a character, I need the proper
makeup tools to help me look like Angelina Jolie. The tools I need are makeup
brushes: contour brush, eyeshadow brush, angled eyeliner brush. Transforming my
face into a well known celebrity challenges my skills. To transform my face, I see
my characteristics are similar to Angelina Jolie. I identify my face to see if the
transformation is possible. I need defined cheeks because Angelina Jolie s cheek
bones is her most prominent feature. The cheeks must be high and well defined.
Defining the cheeks, I choose a medium brown shade of eyeshadow or bronzer.
The forehead is the second most important feature to create. Angelina Jolie has a
long, narrow forehead, as mine is wide. Having the medium brown shadow on my
temples it creates shadows. I create the illusion of a long forehead. After
identifying my features, I am ready to start my transformation. The alterations for
my face will take time to prefect. It will take an hour or longer to do. I might have
to attempt the look a few times until I get it right. When I perfect the look, I am
ready to start. Next, I clean my face to have a clean canvas. Then moisturize my
face so the makeup does not look cakey. Now time to collect my makeup supplies.
The conversion of my face is ready to perceive.
The figuration is ready to start. I have the right makeup choices to
Plant Sets And Its Effect On Our Lives
Part A The results were conclusive and differed slightly from previously
expectations with the plants germinated with an absence of light growing on
average 17.975 mm per day compared to the plants with exposure to light growing
6.965 mm less at an average of 11.01 mm per day. This trend was evident
throughout the duration of the experiment however as the investigation continued
it was clear the growth of both plant sets was beginning to decrease and slow. As
shown in graph 2.0 and table 1.0 on day 15 the plants grown in the dark had
reached a height of 175.9 mm and by day 17 they had only grown 1.475 mm and
reached a height of 177.375 mm, compared to the growth between day 8 and 9
when the plants grew by 44.375 mm, a 48% increase, nearly doubling its height of
47.85 mm on day 8. The heights of both sets altered from each other for most of the
experiment expect for day 10 when the heights only altered by 0.891 mm with the
plants in the dark having a average height of 108.125 mm while the plants with
light had reached a height of 108.944 mm. Part B The results of part B were also
conclusive but were as to be expected with both plant sets increasing in mass. The
original mass of a individual seed was 0.036 grams with the total mass being 0.3
grams. The plants in the dark had a 833.33% increase with the individual weight
being 0.3 grams while the plants grown with light exposure individual mass of 0.4
grams and a 1111.11% increase. Meanwhile the total mass of the seeds
Saving Private Ryan Research Paper
Saving Private Ryan is arguably one of the greatest war films of all time. However,
did Spielberg attempt to change the narrative of World War II? The popular
opinion is that the objective of World War II was to put an end to the spread of
totalitarianism and protect democracy, thus it garnered the name The Good War .
There are some historians that believe this could skew the public s vision of the war
by leaving out the negative aspects that occurred. I don t believe this was the case
regarding Saving Private Ryan. Private Ryan, Captain Miller, Corporal Upham
depicted the image of World II perfectly. The Greatest Generation is typically thought
of as the generation that helped revolutionize the United States. Men and Women
both developed new values such as personal responsibility, duty honor and faith. As
men were sent off to war, women would pick up their duties at home or would head
to Washington to help any way they could. Many believed that those characteristics
that the women and men developed to help build the economy, defeat Hitler in his
pursuit to spread totalitarianism, as well as setting the blueprint for future
generations in politics and economic standing.... Show more content on

The stereotype of American soldiers at the time was that of not wanting to let their
fellow members down or abandoning their brothers , which in turn would make
them seem cowardly. This is depicted in the scene where Captain John Miller
delivers the news of the passing of Private Ryan s brothers. Private Ryan suggested
that it wouldn t be fair for him to go home after those who sacrificed their lives just
find him. His willingness to stay behind and help defend the bridge with his
remaining brothers . This signifies the ongoing message throughout the film, which

Martin Mcgartland s Fifty Dead Men Walking
Martin McGartland was an Irish republican growing up in the Ballymurphy Estate
in the Catholic side of Belfast. Many would think that he was a member of the IRA
just like any other eighteen year old living in the Ballymurphy Estate. Instead of
joining the IRA, Martin actually worked with the Special Branch of the Royal Ulster
Constabulary, providing intelligence on possible IRA attacks and in the process
saved multiple innocent lives. Martin McGartland told accounts through his

Martin had a extreme hatred against these punishment gangs and this developed into
a sense of hatred towards the IRA organization as a whole. Martin believed that the
IRA should protect the Catholics of Belfast from the hardline loyalists, the UVF, and
the UFF. Martin was against innocent people dying, it did not matter whether the
person was loyal to the British or wanted a united Ireland. And yet I could not
understand why it was necessary for the IRA, who protested that they were the
guardians of the Catholic community, to use such strong arm tactics against their
own people through their disciplinary committees, their anonymous punishment
gangs and their penchant for kneecapping young, so called hoods . (McGartland 80
81). During his childhood, Martin was bitter against the punishment gangs because
he was a mischievous child growing up. He never had a legitimate job, he would
sell cigarettes to other classmates. He would witness knee capping for joy riding
with stolen cars. Martin did not understand why the IRA was so strict on their own
people and started to resent the entire organization. Also when he first got involved
with the Special Branch, this was his first legitimate job offer, he was excited to
actually to work for a cause. He gathered intelligence from the IRA and he gave that
information to Special Branch and Martin saved

Investigating Modern Jazz Dance And The Samba No Pe
Investigating modern jazz dance and the Samba no pГ©
Introduction:
Many interesting comparisons may be drawn between both the samba and jazz
dance: not only are their historical contexts highly comparable, as they both set
against the background of imperialism and oppression, but are extremely popular in
their respective cultures, today. Moreover, both dances are very similar in respect to
their movement and music, in which either one may be performed to music or to no
music. Similarly, improvisation forms a highly integral part to both jazz dance and
samba no pГ© s modern vernacular. Perhaps most importantly, both dances are bold
representations of cultural identity and are intrinsically linked to the suffering of
people of the African slave trade throughout the latter half of last millennium and are
symbols of survival tactics which have translated into today s dance discourse as
some of the most popular dances.
Historical context:
The term jazz was first coined during the late 19th and early 20th century in African
American communities in the United States, initially as a music genre. Jazz dance,
albeit embodying a broad range of dance styles, originated from the vernacular dances
of Africans during the Atlantic slave trade between the 16th and 19th centuries. The
inception of jazz dance is attributed by historians to African Americans in the United
States in the early 20th century, originally being danced alongside native African
music. The radical jazz dance,
Stoppard s The Invention of Love
How familiar must the audience of Stoppard s The Invention of Love be with
classical literature and with classics as a field of study? How does this affect the
play s potential audience, and why did Stoppard choose to do this?
The potential audience of the Invention of Love is limited in the first instance by
the fact that it is a play for the stage. By proxy, the audience will be likely to have
some knowledge of classical literature, as they will have more of a culture of theatre
going. There is more of a tradition of classics amongst those that would have seen
the play when it was first shown. Stoppard was a long established playwright by
this time ; hence classical references will be more understood and even expected in a

Yet you will need to be intelligent enough to follow the play in the later case.
Stoppard is obviously try to engage those of the audience with a classical
knowledge, by showing that he understands them and welcomes them in to a
closed off area. However, this does not make the play inaccessible to a modern
audience who may have a lesser knowledge of the classics. He either builds on
people s knowledge of classical literature, while at the same time tries to introduce
others to the world of classical studies. He takes the stereotype of a classical scholar
to start off the play, but he presents this stereotype in a simple way so those who
have no knowledge are able to understand this world. The play introduces us to
modern scholars at first and then contrasted later in the play we are introduced to
classics in the Victorian era. In the same dialogue, a lost play of Aeschylus is
referred to and is also alluded to later, but the idea of Aeschylus is not. The play is
explained but not Aeschylus perpetual place amongst the three great tragedians,
although it is not important to the play as such, but the audience is given enough to
understand that the classicist finds this important. The playwright takes the character
s field of study to show how this very cold, logical classicist is an extremely
emotional poet. It also

enough, Lily goes on to guilt Palmer by proclaiming, You cannot leave me alone in
this merciless world (Marks 113). When faced with these remarks, she needed to
address Lily s outlook on their relationship to make sure Lily understood that their
interaction had to remain professional. You say that one of your reasons for
wishing to be in Durban is that you want to see more of me, but have you ever
asked yourself whether I wish do see more of you? As a matter of fact I do not.
Your romantic and self centered imagination has built up for you a picture in
which you are to be my devoted and intimate friend. Now you must forgive me for
saying that this is all nonsense. Even if you were a European girl of your age it
would still be nonsense (Marks 136). Palmer makes it very clear that Lily s
feelings for her are simply not reciprocated. Palmer says she does not wish to see
Lily, and that Lily s perception of their connection is just nonsense . Critics will
argue that Palmer s tone here is too aggressive though. They ll argue that
Waymo Essay
Google company, Waymo, an autonomous vehicle division of Alphabet, has
achieved an important innovative. Members of Phoenix Arizona Easy Rider
Program are now able to register to go for a ride in the self driving minivan for
free. Anyone interested can register, however riders will be selected by the type of
trips needed and the inclination to use the self driving vehicle as their primary
means of transportation. The self driving minivan are being driven without a
driver behind the wheel, however, an employee will ride behind the driver s seat.
The car is equipped with fully autonomy; sensors that can see around the world,
lasers that can see objects in 3D for up to 300 meters. It also has short range lasers
for closer views and radars for seeing beneath and around vehicles for tracking
moving objects. Waymo has teamed up with Flat Chrysler, Lyft (Andrew

want to blame the software, even the owner, but who is the blame? The way
Family Values In The Family Of The American Family
Picture a picture frame sitting on the mantel over a fireplace, sitting in the frame is
a warm candid family sitting on the couch, the photo reads 12/ 25/77. The father is
holding a beer with his four year old daughter sitting on his lap her curly black hair
almost engulfing her face. She is opening a present wrapped in shining green paper,
the girl s mothersitting next to them smiling in excitement to see what her daughter
thinks of her gift. Happy American familyduring the holidays. This is initially what
every family wants, The Great American Dream : a nice house, a happy family, a
warm meal to come home to, and a white picket fence. The American family
dynamic is changing its look but it is keeping its core values
Next to that photo is another family photo, it shows a mother sitting on the couch
holding her 2 year old son, sitting on the floor opening presents is two kids maybe
five or six years old, next to the mother sits the father holding a gift wrapped in shiny
green paper. The photo reads 12/25/1955.
The typical American family has definitely changed since the 1950s however most
families experience the holidays together, with gifts, food, smiles, traditions and
family squabbles. Most every child experiences the magic of the holidays with their
family, why can t they grow up experiencing that magic with two moms or two dads?

New Mexico.
Habitat:
The American pika lives in rocky mountain areas and boulder covered hillsides
Lives at elevations of between 8,000 13,000 feet
Stays between the timberline and down into subalpine forest
It makes its home in rock piles and slides
Although pikas live in groups, they are territorial and will guard and defend their
own area from other pikas.
Diet:
The American pika is a plant eater.
Eats a variety of green plants like.... grasses Sedges thistles fireweed.
It will eat some food on the spot and it will carry some food away and store in a pile
or haystack.
A pika haystack can contain as much as a bushel of plant matter. The pika will often
move the pile to protect it from rain or to find a better drying spot. After the
vegetation dries, the pika will move it to its den deep in the rocks.
The pika is active all year
It will eat food it has stored in the winter.

Colorimeter Balloon Research Paper
Ice in space may break out the bubbly. Zapping simulated space ice with imitation
starlight makes the ice bubble like champagne. If this happens in space, this
liquidlike behavior could help organic molecules form at the edges of infant
planetary systems. The experiment provides a peek into the possible origins of life.
Shogo Tachibana of Hokkaido University in Sapporo, Japan, and colleagues combined
water, methanol and ammonia, all found in comets and interstellar clouds where stars
form, at a temperature between ‒263° Celsius and ‒258° C. The team then
exposed this newly formed ice to ultraviolet radiation to mimic the light of a young
star.
As the ice warmed to ‒213° C, it cracked like a brittle solid. But at just five
degrees warmer, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That suggests that the bubbles are made of hydrogen that the ultraviolet light split off
methane and ammonia molecules, Tachibana says. It is like bubbling in champagne,
he says with an exception. Champagne bubbles are dissolved carbon dioxide, while
ice bubbles are dissolved hydrogen.

TOIL AND TROUBLE This video inside a super chilled (about ‒145° Celsius)
chamber shows bubbles forming and popping in irradiated ice. The experimental

The irradiated ice took on another liquidlike feature: Between about ‒185° C and
‒161° C, it flowed like refrigerated honey, despite being well below its melting
temperature, Tachibana adds.
That liquidity could help kick start life building chemistry. In 2016, Cornelia
Meinert of the University Nice Sophia Antipolis in France and colleagues showed
that irradiated ice forms a cornucopia of molecules essential to life, including
ribose, the backbone of RNA, which may have been a precursor to DNA (SN: 4/30

The Dangers Of Teen Driving
Introduction Teen driving allows American youth to have their license between the
ages 13 15. At this age, our American youth are more likely to be careless while
driving without supervision. The younger teen drivers are the more susceptible to
fatal car accidents they will be due to the lack of supervision and proper driver s
education. Lack of maturity and experiences leads to developing poor drivinghabits.
The teens in the age group 16 18 are usually more mature in handling a motorized
vehicle. States that allow 13 15 year old teens drive are more likely to get in more
car crashes from driving earlier and not having enough experience.
Theoretical Basis: Conflict Perspective The conflict perspective best explains the
issue of young teen driving and their high number of crashes. States in America
believe that teens should practice to get ready to pass the behind the wheel test. The
more people practice behind the wheel, the better they are at driving a motorized
vehicle. So, it is important that teens received the best opportunity they can with the
behind the wheel driving supervisor in order to potentially reduce fatal car crashes
among teens in America.
Individualized instruction is different for each state for behind the wheel. Some
states do not have enough supervised hours which puts teens at the top of fatal
crash rates. Individual states that have about 40 or more supervised hours and have
lower crash rates are for example, the state of Minnesota. This state has 40
supervised hours for teens of which they have to log before they are able to take the
drivers test. ( The Children s Hospital...).
In Minnesota if the parents do not attend the drivers education meeting before the
class starts their child would have to log 50 hours before they turn 16 to take their
driver s test. This helps since Minnesota has 40 or more supervised hours to
practice driving. Minnesota is in the first group for not having fatal car crashes in
teens. South Dakota has one of the worst teen fatal car crash rates mostly because
they have no supervised hours to meet before they take the behind the wheel test.
This demonstrate an example of the conflict theory because due to lack of resources
a conflict has occurred for
Different Kinds of Terrorism
Different Types of Terrorism: 3 You have probably heard and may have used the
word terrorism. When we did, it had an image in our mind. When other people used
the word (terrorism) they had their own images or meanings for this term. As a result,
terrorism means different things to different people. The nature of terrorismhas
changed over the course of history. Violent activity called terrorism at one point in

After the firm s owner died, Juran took over this firm until he retired in the late
1990s. Once the second world war ended Japan was making products that were not
of quality and because Juran wrote a book called Juran s quality handbook in 1951
the Japanese industry leaders became interested in Juran and invited him to Japan to
help them with the quality of the products being made. When he finally arrived in
Japan in 1954, he visited 10 companies. He taught companies that they need to be
trained from management down and it took Japan 20 years to catch on. During his
life, he made ten visits to Japan, the last in 1990. Once the USA saw Japan s success
they followed in their footsteps. (joseph M. juran)
Juran also made many contributions some of which were The Pareto Principle . In
1906, Italian economist Vilfredo Pareto created a mathematical formula to describe
the unequal distribution of wealth in his country, observing that twenty percent of the
people owned eighty percent of the wealth. In the late 1940s, Juran inaccurately
attributed the 80/20 Rule to Pareto, calling it Pareto s Principle. This principle can be
a very effective tool to help you manage effectively. He also contributed to
management theory. Management theory was a principle that focused on the quality
at the end or finished product. The tools used were sampling, inspection plans and
control chart. Juran is credited for adding the human

Endogenous Factors
Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada (TMMC) growth has meant new opportunities
for Canadian suppliers and has helped create new jobs across Canada. For example
to support the launch of the first Lexus built outside Japan, there have been new
suppliers, built plants in communities as well as the expansion of the suppliers base
already there before TMMC moved into Canada. Additionally because of the lower
Canadian dollar compared to the US Dollar, Canadian plants have shown two areas of
high performance, which are quality and high productivity with the third point being
cost competiveness in the corporate income tax rate.
Additionally flexibility, which is very important to Toyota?s Total Production (TPS),
does not change volume by changing of plant layout but increases flexibility in
overtime working and general manpower. This flexibility gives employees the ability
to work about 48 hours a week if needed to meet demands of customers, (Smith,
2005).
Exogenous factors
The group determined that there are factors beyond its control such as material cost
and labor, location is contributes to the external factors that affected its weighted
benchmarks. In Canada the auto industry is still one of the highest paying fields and
with Toyota?s reputation, they tend to attract higher talent which

The Cersei Lannister Of Privacy Invasion
The Cersei Lannister of Privacy Invasion: An Over Controlling and Oppressive
Watchful Government Presence Online In the television show Game of Thrones,
there exists a world called Westeros and in this world, there lives a woman by the
name of Cersei Lannister. At the end of the most recent season she became queen of
the seven kingdoms amidst much controversy. She rules Westeros with power,
control, and an authoritarian air that commands fear from her subjects. Cersei
Lannister is the epitome of a bully government and will stop at nothing to get
exactly what she wants, even if it means assassinating thousands of innocent people
and causing the death of at least two of her children. This sort of bully behavior
may be entertaining on the television screen but what happens when art imitates life
and the entities that oversee governing our nation turn into the Cersei Lannister s of
the world? Government agencies such as the CIA, FBI, and the NSA are turning
into organizations that actively spy on American citizens and they use the same
sort of scare tactics that Cersei Lannister uses when a certain northern family tries
to get in her way. The CIA, FBI, and the NSA use the information that we post

Quickbooks Software, Created And Developed By Intuit Inc.
Introduction
QuickBooks software, created and developed by Intuit Inc., is one of the most
widely used small business accounting information systems in the world. QuickBooks
accounting software let people manage their business with little or no experience.
QuickBooks is designed to facilitate financial division in creating, recording and
tracking business transactional records that are necessary for producing financial
statement analysis reports. The purpose of my report is to have a general view about
QuickBooks such as its functions.
Main functions
QuickBooks has a lot of functionalities. There are five basic functions of QuickBooks:
Vendors, Customers, Employees, Company, and Banking (Viau, 2013). All of these
functionalities are vital to the integrity of your company file. Below, I will focus
mainly on Vendors. Vendors is the first function appeared in the top left corner. The
vendors function is primarily used by most businesses for the sole purpose of the
Enter Bills Pay Bills function along with Vendor Center. Other functions include
Purchase Orders, Receive Inventory and the subsequent Enter Bills Against Inventory
(Intuit, 2014). In the end this function is associated with Accounts Payable (A/P)
because it is money owed to an existing party and is counted as a liability on your
balance sheet. After Vendors comes Customers; this is where Accounts Receivable
works or better known as A/R. Most of the functions in Customers are quite useful.

Phoenix Constellation
I choose the constellation Phoenix, I ve chosen this constellation because I find the
shape intreging. Phoenix constellation lies in the southern sky. It was originally
introduced by the Dutch astronomer Petrus Plancius from the observations of the
Dutch navigators Frederick Houtman and Pieter Dirkszoon Keyser in the late 16th
century.Phoenix is a relatively small consolation, but it is the largest among the 12
constellations created and named by Plancius. It was first depicted on his globe in
1598 and later appeared in Johann Bayer s atlas Uranometria in 1603. Phoenix

were still unwelcoming to interracial events, and thought that People s Temple was
a progressive group. In fact Jones family was racially mixed, he had a biological
son, also adopted two Asian and an African American children. A large different
demographic range of people were attracted to this organization. Then Jones had an
idea of going to more progressive state and found land in Ukiah, California. Many
people were drawn to the organization because Jones talked about what they were

not take the speculations anymore and moved to their last location. People s Temple
was moved to a secluded area in Jonestown, Guyana. Jones promoted it as a promise

Jones had already manipulated them. He would punish and humiliate people who
wanted to leave. He didn t have any form of contact of the world, like a t.v. or a
radio, so the people would not hear what was actually happening in the world. He
how ever did have an intercom that played 24/7 and that only played his voice; he
would play the false news or manipulating things and he would have it in . In a way
he was brain washing them, because he was the only one that knew any

A solution to this is to have off site parking places and electric trains taking people to
the sites. This damage has been addressed by a number of professors and institutes
however efforts appear to lack co ordination with some temples getting more attention
than others. Another problem that tourists can is defacements. In 2013 a Chinese 15

embarrassment from the negativity he received from online.
Another issues that could possibly cause damage to the temple is terrorism. The
threat of terrorism is quite real because they ve been a few attacks in the city by
Islamic extremist an example would be on June 10th 2015 when a failed suicide
bombing attacked happened in the city of Luxor. The attack happened when three
men refused to go through a security screen, the police opened fire on the terrorist
when they pulled out their weapons. Two of the men were shot and killed, one by a
suicide bomb that went off after he had been shot. The third was taken into police
custody. The failed Luxor city bombing happened shortly after an incident near the
Pyramids where two tourist and a few police officers killed by gunmen on

Subtypes Of Internet Addiction
In the previous decade, the growth rate of internet addiction is increasing all over
the world (Goel.D, et.al, 2013). In the urban India there were almost 5 million
active users of internet present as per 2000 stats but now as per 2008 it has been
increased to 42 million active users of internet.
Adolescents are more likely to be vulnerable to internet addiction as compared to
any other sections of the society. This is because of the leisure and liberty children
are exposed to these days. There are many different aspects such as ease of internet
use among adolescents, availability of time, unlimited access to internet, curiosity to
know more and psychological support that young one seeks through their peers and

average, from the school years 2009 2010 to 2014 2015, there was an increase of
29.6 percent of students seeking for mental health services. In return, demand for on
campus counselors is not being met by most colleges. Students frequently complain
about the long waits in scheduling appointments, as analyzed by the CCMH
(Kingkade, 2016). For example, in the University of Washington the wait time ranges
from two to three weeks, while in the University of Florida the wait time is at two
weeks. Two to three weeks is similar to appointment wait time with private health care
providers, but when it comes to mental health problems among college students who
may be away from home without a support system, time is brutal.
Target Population An intercept survey was conducted on a small percentage of
CSUN students. The participants were asked a series of questions that touch on
awareness, knowledge on symptoms, experience with symptoms, and resources.
Majority of the participants expressed that they have experienced symptoms of
depression but have not been diagnosed with depression or do not consider
themselves as depressed. Some participants have disclosed that they experiencing or

would apply the slow approach to get Genie learn the environment. This would
enable her effectively discover things by herself through experience. When Genie
was eighteen years old, she still had a lot of difficulty in learning basic aspects of
life. As a researcher, I would have located her to an appropriate environment,
probably a rehabilitation center where she would start to learn by discovering
things by her own. The handling of the Genie s case was subjected into three big
mistakes. Firstly, the psychologist who developed as attention to study her case
placed her in an appropriate position and condition. As she was already a severe
victim, Genie would have
benefited much from a direct support rather than the multiple
The Unification Of Innocence And Experience
The Unification of Innocence and Experience
Many peer reviewed sources believe it is essential to understand the historical
contexts of William Blake s lifetime in order to accurately interpret Songs of
Innocence and of Experience (Blake 23). I present opposing questions to this
theory: (1) why is it necessary to try and adopt a perceptional adaptation of Blake s
historical perspective in order to comprehend and interpret his work; (3) is Songs of
Innocence and of Experience a timeless work of art that remains relevant two
hundred and twenty one years after its initial publication as a compilation; (4) what
remains when all historical contexts are eliminated from the analysis of Songs? If
Blake only wants his readers to understand his personal viewpoint of Songs, relative
to the historical context in which it was written, perhaps he would have published an
analytical companion to Songs. Embracing William Blake s non conformist ways, I
choose to explore the timelessness of Innocence and Experience by excluding the
majority of historical and political information from my interpretations (Roberts 4).
It is my goal to focus this paper on poems from Songs of Innocence and Songs of
Experience that share the same title I believe this will reveal the parallels between
the natures of innocence and experience. Additionally, I will explore the basic
philosophical concepts Blake infuses into his poetry; as well as extract the general
themes, concepts, and imagery of Songs of
The Best Cost Effective Stormwater Management
The easiest and most cost effective stormwater management has already been
happening here in the metro area, which is rain barrels and rain cisterns. The Polk
Soil and Water Conservation District, has fully indorsed the rain barrels and
provides forms to order the rain barrels. They are the easiest and most cost efficient
way for property owners to divert their stormwaterrunoff.
The ease of Rain Barrels are that the rooftop downspouts are directed to a 55 gallon
(usually) barrel that collects rainwater and stores it until needed for a specific use,
such as watering plants. While Cisterns are normally an underground container or
tank with a larger storage capacity than a rain barrel, and that is used to supplement
greywater needs (i.e. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This does make cisterns more expensive, however, these cost would allow the house
to use less water, and would be able to pull in thousands of gallons of water away
from the stormwater sewers.
In Chicago in 2009, there were over 2,220 rain barrels/downspout disconnections.
This the calculated would lead to over 8,281,000 gallons of stormwater were diverted
from combined system annually. This means that the city of Chicago was able to use
these very simple and inexpensive stormwater mitigation methods to greatly reduce
the amount of stormwater that the city was producing. Rain barrels and cisterns are a
stormwater prevention system that the property owners in the metro can and already
have started to incorporate into their properties.
Green Roofs are primarily installed to reduce the amount of stormwater runoff and to
protect water quality. There are two main types of green roofs based on the plant
material, extensive or intensive. Extensive green roofs are characterized by lower
weight, lower installation cost, lower plant diversity, and minimal maintenance.
Intensive green roofs are characterized by deeper soil and greater weight, higher
installation costs, increased plant diversity, and greater maintenance, however, they
are accessible to the public and provide green space for activities in an urban setting.
Green roofs provide many benefits for the urban landscape. They help reduce noise
that is created in the cities, filter out air pollutants
National Capital Territory
In recent years we have seen increase in crimes against women in the National
Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi. It has been issue of prime concern and should be
on priority for Government. Delhi, being national capital and metropolitan city and
also it is surrounded by many states attracts a large number of population.
The people from neighboring states in search of employment or due to poverty
indulge in criminal activities. This is also influenced by mass media and stressful
working conditions, which largely attributed to increase in crimes against women.
Delhi is being perceived most unsafe city of India for women.
The topic deals with the understanding the planning of spaces of Delhi in terms of
criminal activities, especially to crimes against women. A major challenge in Delhi is
ensuring the safety of one half of its citizens. Delhi has the uncertain honour or
recognition as the top ranking city among the one million plus cities in the country in
terms of crime against women.
Another disastrous aspect of the crime scenario is that the majority of the crimes are
committed against young children (11 18 years age group), who get shattered right at
the start of their emerging life.
To control these criminal activities Delhi was trifurcated in three ranges (New Delhi
Range, Southern Range, Northern Range) and further into 11 Districts and 54 Sub
Divisions for the purpose of maintaining law order and the work of above three
ranges have been further divided into four

In How the Other Half Lives, Jacob Riis invesitgates and describes all aspects of life
that the poor population of New York City, during the Guilded Age, experience.
COmbined with actual photo evidence, Riis writes to inform those who don t
realize (the wealthy, politicians, people above the Lower East Side) just how terrible
the living conditions were to lower class families. He explains that most people of
particular wealth and prestige ignore the problem, partly because of the lies the
politicians are feeding them about the conditions the others live in.

Once Were Warriors And Tess Of The DUrbervilles Essay
How do the Authors of Once Were Warriors and Tess of the D Urbervilles Explore
the Subjugation of Women in Patriarchal Societies?
The film Once Were Warriors, directed by Lee Tamahori, and the novel, Tess of the
D Urbervilles by Thomas Hardy differ in terms of context, however each explores the
subjugation of women in a patriarchal society. Tamahori and Hardy both explore the
idea that patriarchy traps women in oppressive situations employing the settings of
their texts and the characters they devised. Each author concludes that gender
subjugation forces women to respond in drastic ways through the characterisation of
their protagonists as well as through symbolism. It is Tamahori s cinematography, and
Hardy s narrative perspective and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jake for example, is portrayed as an arrogant, violent man, often depicted yelling
and resorting to his fists when things do not go his way, Tamahori using
cinematography to emphasise his violent nature. When Jake beats Beth for the
first time on screen Tamahori frequently employs an upward camera angle to
emphasise Jake s power. The upwards torso shots in particular allow the audience
to view Jake s body language and facial expression. From these shots, evidence of
Jake s violence are captured in his tightened muscles and strained face. Tamahori

brutalization. The downward angles allow the audience to witness Beth s fearful
facial expressions and the contortions of a damaged body. In this contrast Tamahori
is able to further emphasise situations of domestic abuse. Jake s violent portrayal
as an abusive man is symbolic of Maori men enforcing patriarchy in post colonial
New Zealand communities. Although Hardy s antagonist Alec D Urberville is not
physically violent, he is portrayed as an emotionally manipulative privileged male
who uses these characteristics to entrap Tess. Alec s courtship of Tess is oppressive
in the sense that he believes he is entitled to her, that because he had sex with her
once he has the right to call himself her master. Hardy hints at her rape in his narrative
The Rainbow Six Siege By Tom Clancy
There is a plethora of shooting games out in the world today. They come on
virtually every platform from cell phones to Computers and Xbox s. Many good
games are overlooked for the more mainstream ones such as Call of Duty whose
games are extremely popular but at best subpar. One of the best new shooters on the
market today is Rainbow six Siege . One of many games in the Rainbow six saga,
Siege is the newest addition to Tom Clancys brainchild tactical shooterseries. The
gamefeatures realistic five on five tactical combat between two teams. One of the
teams attacks, while the other defends. Rainbow six s graphics are amazing for a
console game and really has the power to immerse a casual gamer. Rainbow also
has a perfect formula for mixing in futuristic gadgets with real counter terrorism
style combat in small environments such as residential houses and large yachts.
Every operator has there own special gadget to gain the edge in combat and trying
to guess which operators the enemy team will use is crucial to survival. That being
said, you do not make it very far in Rainbow six without some sort of team work
and collaboration as opposed to shooters such as Call of Duty that have more of a
one vs. all run and gun mentality. As the game is rated M for mature by the ESRB,
You will need to be over eighteen to purchase it. The strong rating is due to blood,
drug references, strong language and violence, which some parents may find okay for
their children but some may
My Understanding Of The Typical Duties Of This Career-
DMS Career Exploration
Describe your understanding of the typical duties of this career
I learned many things about a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer s (DMS) duties
during my time spent job shadowing. It is a career that will keep you on the move.
Much time goes into prepping the room for an examination. From setting up the
machine, reviewing patient history, choosing the correct wand, and making sure you
have the correct patient. That s just a warm up.
The first thing I noticed about the technicians was how personable they were with the
patients. They would greet each patient and ask what brought them in for the
examination. The tech would have a brief interview with the patient trying to get as
much information as they could ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are required to do so much more than just , be able to answer patient s
questions, helping them understand the procedure, and accurately operate and
maintain the imaging equipment (Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Job Description).
My first shadow experience at Hamot started with a paracentesis. The technician did
pretty much everything but insert the needle into the patient s abdomen. It was
incredible. I guess I didn t realize how much more there is to DMS then just taking
images.
I was surprised by how much a physician relies on the sonographer to point out small
parts on the screen. During a Thyroid biopsy at Hamot the physician kept asking the
technician to point out the Thyroid on the screen. It just proves how difficult it is to
identify small parts when you aren t trained to recognize the difference between
normal and abnormal images while conducting an ultrasound, sonogram, or
echocardiogram(Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Job Description).
It was interesting to see how the appropriate equipment settings and adjustment of the
patients positions (Onetonline) could change the outcome of the image. Or how they
compared the differences between healthy and pathological areas (Onetonline).
when they were viewing kidneys and scrotum. I believe my favorite part of the day
was watching a vein expand and contract, and how by using the Doppler you could
see the blood flow and change the view from long to transverse just by adjusting the
Essay on The Cuban Revolution
The time of the Cuban Revolution was a great deal of turmoil, not just in Cuba but
in almost every corner of the world. It was 1945, shortly after the end of World War
Two, and the Cold War was taking off between the United States and the Soviet
Union. Cuba, in the middle of its own war, was caught up in the international politics
of the Cold War. The interaction between international and domestic politics played a
major role in the outcome of the revolution. The result of the revolution left Fidel
Castroin charge of Cuba. The Platt Amendment states that the United States has the
ability to interfere at various points in Cuba s history. This gave America the ability
to better serve its own interests in the region, including sugar... Show more content on

Their focus was national sovereignty, reform, economic growth, a redistribution of
wealth, and social justice(the cuban revolution p 62). Finally, in 1965, Cuba
officially became communist with the emergence of the Cuban Communist Party,
with Fidel Castro as their leader. Castro s involvement with the foreign and
domestic politics during the early Cold War period greatly influenced the outcome
of the Cuban Revolution. Without the actions taken by foreign powers like the
United States and Russia, some events on the domestic front may have had very
different results. It is important to understand how every nation s foreign policies
can influence more than just one other nation, and this was especially true for
Cuba. It was this mix and chain of events which produced the communist Cuba that
we are familiar with today. The most popular of Fidel Castro s documents is La
Historia Me Absolvera also known as History Will Absolve Me. This was a speech
given by Castro at his trial for leading an attack on the Moncada Barracks. Castro s
speech discussed many of his ideas and beliefs that justified his reasoning to form his
revolutionary movement against Fulgencio Batista. History Will Absolve Me, shows
the revolutionary ideologies of Castro and how he later revolts to power. Although,
his speech was about his thought on the revolutionary movement, it also was to show
the foundation of his Moncada attack and what he was trying to achieve. Castro

Maya Angelou Caged Bird
Maya Angelou poem s Caged Bird is a comparison between the lives of two bird.
The free bird is able to live his life freely chasing worms while the caged bird can
only sing for freedom. In Beloved, the characters that escape from slavery
transform from a caged bird to a free bird. Although, they are free, the memory of
the past continues to torment them. By understanding Angelou s poem, the readers
can connect to Paul D and Sethe s mentality. Angelou uses imagery and structure to
illustrate the lives of the two birds. While the free bird can see the orange sun rays
and dares to claim the sky (line 6 7) the other bird can seldom see through his bars
of rage (10 11) The readers can compare how the birds see their environment. Unlike
the free bird, the caged birds cannot see the world around him. Additionally, the free

The tobacco tin contains memories of the iron bit from Sweet Home, his

An Project On Investigative Journalism
Methodology
My proposal focuses on a particular set of cultural practices, organizations,
productions, and identities, such as those mobilized by the performance of
investigative journalism in Chile in a post authoritarian moment. I am particularly
acknowledging culture s conception as a process and a set of practices and not a
collection of things (Hall, cited by Rose, 2016: 2), constituted by interworked systems
of construable signs by which culture is actually a context within which social events,
behaviors, institutions, or processes can be intelligible, thickly described , and not an
outcome of some measurable causes (Geertz, 2008: 36). In this vein, this proposal
recognizes MartГn Barbero s perspective in which popular and ... Show more content

That is, this project focuses on the culture specific, from the view of its players,
because people describe their world not as it is but as they make sense of it (Babbie,
2013). Admitting that this inductive bottom up strategy reduces its comparative
potential (Hanitzsch, 2007) and that cultural analysis is intrinsically incomplete
(Geertz, 2008), it rather gains from developing conceptualizations in a specific
political, economic, and cultural context. The proposal s aim is making sense of what
historically has happened in the field of Chilean investigative journalism and better
understand the features of this particular experience. Doing so, it contributes to
expand a research field heavily based upon Western literature, theories, and cultural
frameworks (mainly US and Anglo Saxon) that comparative perspectives are not
fully addressing particular historical experiences, geographical dimensions, or
cultural features (Hanitzsch, 2007; Waisbord Mellado, 2014). By understanding
culture as a set of entangled meanings, this proposal advocates for what Geertz calls
an interpretive effort in search of meanings rather than an experimental science
looking for laws (Geertz, 2008).
I borrow the concept of thick description applied to ethnography (Geertz, 2008) and
adapt it to this methodological proposal as
Study on Essential Hypertension

GIZELLE WILKINSON
SUBJECT: ESSENTIAL HYPERTENSION
STUDENT NUMBER: M00037713
CLINICAL SCIENCES II
INTRODUCTION
Essential hypertension, otherwise known as primary or idiopathic hypertension, is a
condition of raised blood pressure with no identifiable cause. Secondary hypertension
occurs when blood pressure elevation results from a specific and potentially treatable
cause. These include renal diseases, endocrine causes, congenital cardiovascular
causes and pregnancy.
This study however, will focus on essential hypertension so as to avoid unnecessary
confusion. Blood pressure is relative to each individual and tends to vary markedly
depending on height and weight. Levels of blood pressure ... Show more content on

In the arteries, there is thickening of each of the layers in the vessel wall, thus
narrowing the lumen and reducing its effectiveness. A similar development occurs in
the arterioles causing increased rigidity of the walls thus reducing their ability to
contract and expand. Hence the lumen size is reduced. As a result, there is slowing
down of the blood flow resulting in ischaemia of cell tissue.
This then increases the pressure through the vessels and the left ventricular
myocardium or heart muscle undergoes hypertrophy. Ischaemic heart disease and left
ventricular failure are common results of hypertension in this case.
Due to occurrence of the above, the blood vessel in the brain become more fragile
and paves the way for haemorrhage. Damage to small blood vessels within the
cerebral hemispheres produce microscopic infarctions (localised necrotic areas)
appearing as small areas of brain destruction that fill with fluid, otherwise known as
hypertensive lacunae.
In malignant hypertension the vessels undergo similar changes but more acutely.
Therefore the damage is more severe, leading to actual cessation of blood flow
through the vessels. This results in multiple areas of tissue necrosis as in the
glomeruli of the kidney.
As the glomeruli are part of the filtration system in the nephron of the kidney, damage
can hinder removal of waste products, salt and water from the blood stream.

Understanding The Business Process Change
Understanding Business Process Change
To speak intelligently about the importance of understanding business process change
as it relates to employment, it is important to define what business process change
means. In the simplest of terms, business process change is a modification to a
company s existing business process. This process could be manual, automated or
both. The goal of such changes are to improve the performance and productivity of a
company. Advances in technology and globalization are two of the major drivers
behind the increased popularity of business process change. Change and relentless
competition calls for constant innovation and for constant increases in productivity...
both call for an intense focus on how work gets ... Show more content on

After reviewing the videos, I realized that these changes could affect my department
but did not realize to what extent. Had I fully understood the ramifications of these
changes, could I have taken a few precautions? Possible but there is no guarantee.
Concerning future employment plans, I hope to be on the positive end of any
upcoming business process changes be it formal or informal.
Organizational change: Formal or Informal
In terms of organizational change, business process changes is a part of the overall
process. It also includes reviewing and modifying management structures. Therefore,
it is understandable why the term organizational change is often synonymous with
the term organizational structure. Moreover, organizations have both a formal or
informal structure. In today s evolving business environment, globalization,
technological advances, changing consumer demand, economic conditions and
competition are significant drivers that change how businesses operate. Characteristic
organizational change can include three main stages: establishing the need for the
change, implementation of said change and monitoring the change. Regardless of the
scope and impact of the organizational change, the need for formal process changes
are key to effective organizational change.
Formal process

The novel by Amy Tan delves into intricate themes such as cultural identity, generational conflicts, and the complex relationships between mothers and daughters. The multifaceted narrative structure, alternating between the perspectives of different characters, adds an additional layer of complexity to the analysis. One of the difficulties lies in navigating the cultural nuances presented in the book. The story unfolds against the backdrop of Chinese-American immigrant experiences, and capturing the essence of these cultural intricacies requires a careful understanding of both Chinese and American perspectives. The cultural clash and fusion within the characters' lives demand a nuanced exploration, making it challenging to strike a balance in the essay. Furthermore, examining the intricate mother-daughter relationships portrayed in the novel requires a deep dive into the characters' motivations, fears, and desires. Each character has a unique voice and story, and weaving these together to form a coherent analysis can be a demanding task. Crafting a thesis that encapsulates the overarching themes of the novel while providing fresh insights is another hurdle. Given the extensive critical analysis available on "The Joy Luck Club," finding a unique angle or perspective that adds value to the existing discourse can be a formidable challenge. • 8. A Biological Family In Kingsolver s The Bean Trees Everyone has a biological family, but sometimes people give up their children or when children grow up they sometimes decide to leave this biological family. But, this does not mean that these children have given up a family forever. According to dictionary.com, a family is a group consisting of parents and children living together in a household . This definition generates the idea that familydoes not have to be biological. In The Bean Trees, Kingsolver uses the intimacy between the character to suggest the idea that non biological families can be as strong or even stronger than biological ones. The connection to Taylor s heritage helps to create a sense of family and belonging when she is in Cherokee nation. When she first leaves home, Taylor drives through Cherokee nation which, reminds her of her heritage and family so she decides to write a letter to her mom. Shadism and Racism are both a large part in Hollywood and the casting process. There has been a recent concentration online on institutional racism in Hollywood; social media movements have brought attention towards, the casting process and the lack of diversity at the Oscars. The persistent snubbing of people of colour (POC) in Hollywood is being recognised. However, has this changed the representation of POC in films? To transform into a character, I need the proper makeup tools to help me look like Angelina Jolie. The tools I need are makeup brushes: contour brush, eyeshadow brush, angled eyeliner brush. Transforming my face into a well known celebrity challenges my skills. To transform my face, I see my characteristics are similar to Angelina Jolie. I identify my face to see if the transformation is possible. I need defined cheeks because Angelina Jolie s cheek bones is her most prominent feature. The cheeks must be high and well defined. Defining the cheeks, I choose a medium brown shade of eyeshadow or bronzer. The forehead is the second most important feature to create. Angelina Jolie has a long, narrow forehead, as mine is wide. Having the medium brown shadow on my temples it creates shadows. I create the illusion of a long forehead. After identifying my features, I am ready to start my transformation. The alterations for my face will take time to prefect. It will take an hour or longer to do. I might have to attempt the look a few times until I get it right. Plant Sets And Its Effect On Our Lives Part A The results were conclusive and differed slightly from previously expectations with the plants germinated with an absence of light growing on average 17.975 mm per day compared to the plants with exposure to light growing 6.965 mm less at an average of 11.01 mm per day. This trend was evident throughout the duration of the experiment however as the investigation continued it was clear the growth of both plant sets was beginning to decrease and slow. As shown in graph 2.0 and table 1.0 on day 15 the plants grown in the dark had reached a height of 175.9 mm and by day 17 they had only grown 1.475 mm and reached a height of 177.375 mm, compared to the growth between day 8 and 9 when the plants grew by 44.375 mm, a 48% increase, nearly doubling its height of 47.85 mm on day 8. The heights of both sets altered from each other for most of the experiment expect for day 10 when the heights only altered by 0.891 mm with the plants in the dark having a average height of 108.125 mm while the plants with light had reached a height of 108.944 mm. Part B The results of part B were also conclusive but were as to be expected with both plant sets increasing in mass. The original mass of a individual seed was 0.036 grams with the total mass being 0.3 grams. • 12. Saving Private Ryan Research Paper Saving Private Ryan is arguably one of the greatest war films of all time. However, did Spielberg attempt to change the narrative of World War II? The popular opinion is that the objective of World War II was to put an end to the spread of totalitarianism and protect democracy, thus it garnered the name The Good War . There are some historians that believe this could skew the public s vision of the war by leaving out the negative aspects that occurred. I don t believe this was the case regarding Saving Private Ryan. Private Ryan, Captain Miller, Corporal Upham depicted the image of World II perfectly. The Greatest Generation is typically thought of as the generation that helped revolutionize the United States. Men and Women both developed new values such as personal responsibility, duty honor and faith. As men were sent off to war, women would pick up their duties at home or would head to Washington to help any way they could. Many believed that those characteristics that the women and men developed to help build the economy, defeat Hitler in his pursuit to spread totalitarianism, as well as setting the blueprint for future generations in politics and economic standing.... Investigating Modern Jazz Dance And The Samba No Pe Investigating modern jazz dance and the Samba no pГ© Introduction: Many interesting comparisons may be drawn between both the samba and jazz dance: not only are their historical contexts highly comparable, as they both set against the background of imperialism and oppression, but are extremely popular in their respective cultures, today. Moreover, both dances are very similar in respect to their movement and music, in which either one may be performed to music or to no music. Similarly, improvisation forms a highly integral part to both jazz dance and samba no pГ© s modern vernacular. Perhaps most importantly, both dances are bold representations of cultural identity and are intrinsically linked to the suffering of people of the African slave trade throughout the latter half of last millennium and are symbols of survival tactics which have translated into today s dance discourse as some of the most popular dances. Historical context: The term jazz was first coined during the late 19th and early 20th century in African American communities in the United States, initially as a music genre. Jazz dance, albeit embodying a broad range of dance styles, originated from the vernacular dances of Africans during the Atlantic slave trade between the 16th and 19th centuries. The inception of jazz dance is attributed by historians to African Americans in the United States in the early 20th century, originally being danced alongside native African music. • 27. The Dangers Of Teen Driving Introduction Teen driving allows American youth to have their license between the ages 13 15. At this age, our American youth are more likely to be careless while driving without supervision. The younger teen drivers are the more susceptible to fatal car accidents they will be due to the lack of supervision and proper driver s education. Lack of maturity and experiences leads to developing poor drivinghabits. The teens in the age group 16 18 are usually more mature in handling a motorized vehicle. States that allow 13 15 year old teens drive are more likely to get in more car crashes from driving earlier and not having enough experience. Theoretical Basis: Conflict Perspective The conflict perspective best explains the issue of young teen driving and their high number of crashes. States in America believe that teens should practice to get ready to pass the behind the wheel test. The more people practice behind the wheel, the better they are at driving a motorized vehicle. So, it is important that teens received the best opportunity they can with the behind the wheel driving supervisor in order to potentially reduce fatal car crashes among teens in America. Individualized instruction is different for each state for behind the wheel. Some states do not have enough supervised hours which puts teens at the top of fatal crash rates. Individual states that have about 40 or more supervised hours and have lower crash rates are for example, the state of Minnesota. This state has 40 supervised hours for teens of which they have to log before they are able to take the drivers test. ( The Children s Hospital...). In Minnesota if the parents do not attend the drivers education meeting before the class starts their child would have to log 50 hours before they turn 16 to take their driver s test. This helps since Minnesota has 40 or more supervised hours to practice driving. Minnesota is in the first group for not having fatal car crashes in teens. South Dakota has one of the worst teen fatal car crash rates mostly because they have no supervised hours to meet before they take the behind the wheel test. This demonstrate an example of the conflict theory because due to lack of resources a conflict has occurred for

In 1906, Italian economist Vilfredo Pareto created a mathematical formula to describe the unequal distribution of wealth in his country, observing that twenty percent of the people owned eighty percent of the wealth. In the late 1940s, Juran inaccurately attributed the 80/20 Rule to Pareto, calling it Pareto s Principle. This principle can be a very effective tool to help you manage effectively. If Blake only wants his readers to understand his personal viewpoint of Songs, relative to the historical context in which it was written, perhaps he would have published an analytical companion to Songs. The ease of Rain Barrels are that the rooftop downspouts are directed to a 55 gallon (usually) barrel that collects rainwater and stores it until needed for a specific use, such as watering plants. Initial shape and curvature of nickel titanium alloy depend upon its length and self weight of the beam large deflection of combined loading was proposed by kyongoo lee [1] finding deflection of non linear elastic cantilever beam and solved governing equation using numerical integration of one parameter shooting method. Bishop and drucker [2] investigate large deflection of cantilever beam of linear elastic material. We are using nitinol (nickel titanium alloy) beam it s having a low modulus of elasticity(E) which shows good spring back behavior which regain its original shape after removing external load. Who s bending stiffness is low compared to other material like stainless steel. Due to this property at very low external load large deflection take place in the beam. We are going to find the deflection in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This bending moment equation was only valid when the entire point load is in same direction. In this paper we are dealing about single segment continuum robot and the load experienced on each disk are dependent upon load provided at end disk through secondary back bone and the direction of each disk was also depend upon end point load direction. The free bird is able to live his life freely chasing worms while the caged bird can only sing for freedom. In Beloved, the characters that escape from slavery transform from a caged bird to a free bird. Although, they are free, the memory of the past continues to torment them. By understanding Angelou s poem, the readers can connect to Paul D and Sethe s mentality. Angelou uses imagery and structure to illustrate the lives of the two birds. While the free bird can see the orange sun rays and dares to claim the sky (line 6 7) the other bird can seldom see through his bars of rage (10 11) The readers can compare how the birds see their environment. Unlike the free bird, the caged birds cannot see the world around him. Additionally, the free bird has the fat worms waiting on a dawn bright lawn . . . but a... In Georgia, Paul D is chained into a cage like the caged bird. He flies to freedom by following the tree blossom to the North. Still, Paul D is trap due to the tobacco tin buried in his chest where a red heart used to be (Morrison, 89) and is plagued by the contents. (271) The tobacco tin contains memories of the iron bit from Sweet Home, his confinement, and the death of his friend. The memories haunts Paul D and cannot move on until he accepts and opens up to Sethe at the end of the novel. For Sethe, 124 is her cage. Her sons escape the ghost of 124 by moving on from the past and join the Union to fight the war against slavery. Sethe views Beloved s death is the result of slavery. Beloved s grave is also Sethe s grave of dreams (Angelou, 27) for a family. Sethe exchanges the happiness of her family for her family s freedom using Beloved as a

An Project On Investigative Journalism Methodology My proposal focuses on a particular set of cultural practices, organizations, productions, and identities, such as those mobilized by the performance of investigative journalism in Chile in a post authoritarian moment. I am particularly acknowledging culture s conception as a process and a set of practices and not a collection of things (Hall, cited by Rose, 2016: 2), constituted by interworked systems of construable signs by which culture is actually a context within which social events, behaviors, institutions, or processes can be intelligible, thickly described , and not an outcome of some measurable causes (Geertz, 2008: 36). In this vein, this proposal recognizes MartГn Barbero s perspective in which popular and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That is, this project focuses on the culture specific, from the view of its players, because people describe their world not as it is but as they make sense of it (Babbie, 2013). Admitting that this inductive bottom up strategy reduces its comparative potential (Hanitzsch, 2007) and that cultural analysis is intrinsically incomplete (Geertz, 2008), it rather gains from developing conceptualizations in a specific political, economic, and cultural context. The proposal s aim is making sense of what historically has happened in the field of Chilean investigative journalism and better understand the features of this particular experience. Doing so, it contributes to expand a research field heavily based upon Western literature, theories, and cultural frameworks (mainly US and Anglo Saxon) that comparative perspectives are not fully addressing particular historical experiences, geographical dimensions, or cultural features (Hanitzsch, 2007; Waisbord Mellado, 2014). By understanding culture as a set of entangled meanings, this proposal advocates for what Geertz calls an interpretive effort in search of meanings rather than an experimental science looking for laws (Geertz, 2008). I borrow the concept of thick description applied to ethnography (Geertz, 2008) and adapt it to this methodological proposal as

Study on Essential Hypertension PRESENTATION BY: GIZELLE WILKINSON SUBJECT: ESSENTIAL HYPERTENSION STUDENT NUMBER: M00037713 CLINICAL SCIENCES II INTRODUCTION Essential hypertension, otherwise known as primary or idiopathic hypertension, is a condition of raised blood pressure with no identifiable cause. Secondary hypertension occurs when blood pressure elevation results from a specific and potentially treatable cause. These include renal diseases, endocrine causes, congenital cardiovascular causes and pregnancy. This study however, will focus on essential hypertension so as to avoid unnecessary confusion. Blood pressure is relative to each individual and tends to vary markedly depending on height and weight. Levels of blood pressure ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the arteries, there is thickening of each of the layers in the vessel wall, thus narrowing the lumen and reducing its effectiveness. A similar development occurs in the arterioles causing increased rigidity of the walls thus reducing their ability to contract and expand. Hence the lumen size is reduced. As a result, there is slowing down of the blood flow resulting in ischaemia of cell tissue. This then increases the pressure through the vessels and the left ventricular myocardium or heart muscle undergoes hypertrophy. Ischaemic heart disease and left ventricular failure are common results of hypertension in this case. Due to occurrence of the above, the blood vessel in the brain become more fragile and paves the way for haemorrhage. Damage to small blood vessels within the cerebral hemispheres produce microscopic infarctions (localised necrotic areas) appearing as small areas of brain destruction that fill with fluid, otherwise known as hypertensive lacunae. In malignant hypertension the vessels undergo similar changes but more acutely. Therefore the damage is more severe, leading to actual cessation of blood flow through the vessels. This results in multiple areas of tissue necrosis as in the glomeruli of the kidney. As the glomeruli are part of the filtration system in the nephron of the kidney, damage

Understanding The Business Process Change Understanding Business Process Change To speak intelligently about the importance of understanding business process change as it relates to employment, it is important to define what business process change means. In the simplest of terms, business process change is a modification to a company s existing business process. This process could be manual, automated or both. The goal of such changes are to improve the performance and productivity of a company. Advances in technology and globalization are two of the major drivers behind the increased popularity of business process change. Change and relentless competition calls for constant innovation and for constant increases in productivity... both call for an intense focus on how work gets ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After reviewing the videos, I realized that these changes could affect my department but did not realize to what extent. Had I fully understood the ramifications of these changes, could I have taken a few precautions? Possible but there is no guarantee. Concerning future employment plans, I hope to be on the positive end of any upcoming business process changes be it formal or informal. Organizational change: Formal or Informal In terms of organizational change, business process changes is a part of the overall process. It also includes reviewing and modifying management structures. Therefore, it is understandable why the term organizational change is often synonymous with the term organizational structure. Moreover, organizations have both a formal or informal structure. In today s evolving business environment, globalization, technological advances, changing consumer demand, economic conditions and competition are significant drivers that change how businesses operate. Characteristic organizational change can include three main stages: establishing the need for the change, implementation of said change and monitoring the change. Regardless of the scope and impact of the organizational change, the need for formal process changes are key to effective organizational change. Formal process
