Micro Features -Describe key features and explain what info this gives the audience: Macro Features - Explain what the micro elements suggest about:
Mise en scene (e.g. setting, costume, performance, colour, lighting, etc.)
For the costumes, the two main characters (played by Seth Rogen and
James Franco) are journalists and they are dressed in smart-casual
clothing. The other characters in North Korea are in traditional Korean
military uniforms.
Genre
Action-Comedy
Camerawork (e.g. shot types, angles, movement)
There are lots of shot reverse shots and over the shoulder shots, this
would be to show the conversations of the characters, as there is lots of
dialogue and talking.
Narrative (What events are shown? Are there any conflicts/oppositions? Do you
get a sense of the full film’s beginning-middle-end?)
The first shot is an Asian boy playing the guitar, this may tell us that the film is going
to be set in Asia and feature Asians.
I think the trailer shows events in a random order but you can get a sense of when
the film is at the beginning, middle and end.
We know the opposition is James Franco and Seth Rogen against King Jong-Un. This is
also shown through a title saying ‘The plot to assassinate King Jong-Un’.
Editing (Montage? Pace? Reaction shots? FX?)
This is a mixture of continuity and montage editing, this is because they
have are a few shot changes, the shots that do change can be fast or
they can be slower and the shot duration is longer.
Representation (How are characters, places or events represented?)
James Franco is shown to be the likeable funny-stupid character due to a scene in the
trailer when he does not understand a simple joke.

Sound (e.g. music, dialogue, voice over, effects)
The trailer features lots of dialogue and tells the audience what the film
is roughly going to be about. The sound of the guitar at the beginning
carries on throughout the whole trailer but at some points it is very
quiet, this is because the trailer wants you to focus on the dialogue.
Audience (Who is the target audience and how is this evident?)
I think the audience will be teenagers and young adults, this is because Seth
Rogen and James Franco are normally cast in films that appeal to this age
group such as Pineapple Express and Superbad. I also believe that the plot of
this film may not appeal to people of an older age.
Credits and titles (Any text elements, don’t forget idents and release info)
The credits such the release information (OCTOBER – THIS FALL)
SONY – Columbia Pictures
It also shows the cast (James Franco – Seth Rogen) I believe they are
featured because a lot of teenagers and young adults like them and will
see a film because they are in it.
USP (Do you think the trailer presents a unique selling point for the film?)
I think one of the main usp’s of the film is the fact that Seth Rogen wrote the film.
And that he and James Franco are both in it. They are two very popular actors in their
genre of film and most teenagers and young adults have seen the other films they
are in.
