2. Opening Shot
This is the first initial shot as the
title sequence begins.
This shot shows the division
between the dominant characters
in the film and the weak.
A wide shot is used to highlight
the dominant character’s car. A
low angle is used to show the car
and the man looming over the
weak.
The dominant male is wearing a
hat and his car in the background
which shows he has more wealth
and power. Hats, in the past,
suggest wealth
3. This is the second shot in the title
sequence.
The characters gesture code
suggests that they’re about to
fight.
Also it could show the division of
race/culture because they are
separated by the writing.
4. This is the next most
significant shot in the title
sequence.
It’s a close up of the woman’s
face and she is holding a gun
her gesture code shows that
she is about to shoot/already
shot someone, also the
colours are pink and purple
which fits in with her gender.
5. This is 3 different shots of this man, it
shows him normal then to when he is
laughing and smiling, because of his gun
and gesture code it suggest that he is a man
of power and high status.
The three shots could show three sides to
the film;
• When he’s laughing – a comedy side to
the film
• When he’s in pain; the sad side of the
film
• When he’s pointing the gun; the action
side of the film
6. This is a close up of a man with a
gun, the close up shows the
emotion on his face and the
colours are light and not dark
which could show his personality
of what type of character he is.
The image of the man in this
poster-like format gives away that
he may be on a ‘wanted’ sign by
the police
7. This shot showing a man with a
gun resting on his shoulder and
sunglasses on infer that he has
authority in the film. The cars in
the background represent his
property that he protects.
His gesture code infers that
8. The words in the
background of this shot,
particularly the ‘No
Fighting’, indicate that
there is quite a lot of rule
braking in this film, and
going against the law and
the norm.
9. This shot of a rubber-duck
with a cigarette in it’s mouth
suggests the film is going to be
quite dark.
Also a mysterious, confusing
side to the film because a
rubber duck and a cigarette
would not normally be seen in
the same shot. It could
suggest the film isn’t ‘normal’
or isn’t going to be a typical
thriller/action film.
10. Finally, the title sequence
comes to a close, revealing
the title of the film.
The font is very bold
suggesting that the film is
for quite a masculine
audience.
There is a gun shot mark in
the bottom left corner
which shows that the film’s
genre is thriller or action.
