2. Film title: rough edges of font and bright colours contribute to the mood and point towards the genre. We wanted the genre to be clear, so we opted for classic punk colours of pink and yellow.
3. Setting/location: This shot shows our three main characters in their urban setting. The scene suggests that they’re stuck in a ‘normal’ life where everyone else conforms. This shot also follows the rule of thirds as do a lot of shots from our inspiring texts.
4. Costumes and props : This shot shows two main characters in costume with the victim of the mugging in the middle. The two main characters’ dress code is evidently different from the victim’s who is dressed relatively ‘normal’ compared to the protagonists. This shows them trying to stand out from the crowd with sunglasses and bright clothing.
5. Camera work and editing : This is a high angle shot of our three protagonists. This shot is great because we can show more characters in the frame as well as being able to achieve a ‘fly on the wall’ type of perspective. It makes the characters seem less intimidating because the viewer is higher than them
6. Title font and style : This text is a livefont which means it’s an animated text style. The rugged style is associated with the punk genre and the colours are taken from the Sex Pistols’ album cover ‘Never mind the bollocks’ These colours combined with the style therefore instantly spark connotations of the intended genre.
7. Story and how the opening sets it up : This mid shot is one of the first few shots and it shows one of our characters venting his rage to his peers. This scene hints at the unique selling point of the movie and is the trigger to the story which shows a group of individuals trying to escape convention.
8. Genre and how the opening suggests it : This close up shows another of our main characters smoking. The connotations that come with smoking as a stereotype are labels such as ‘rebel’ and associations with youngsters who do whatever they want. These connotations are appropriate for our chosen genre and conjure up all the right images for our film.
9. How characters are introduced : For each character we froze the image and added some colour editing controls. We stylized the image to a high contrast pink tint and added a title of the character’s name in bright yellow. This has a dramatic effect because it grabs the viewers attention when the movement freezes.
10. Special effects : This effect is called a travel matte. It is scrolling text with an image inside the lettering. We also changed the colour of the image for effect before creating the title. We drew up the title itself using livetype and stacked the title and the image on top of eachother. We changed the framing options of the text to show the image inside it.
