finds on the bed of the stream. It is generally nocturnal but becomes diurnal in the Arctic

Rudd prefer clear waters rich in plants. They also feed on aquatic vegetation when the

15. Lipan podhorní (Thymallus thymallus)
The grayling grows to a maximum recorded length of 60 cm (24 in) and a maximum
recorded weight of 6.7 kg (15 lb). The grayling prefers cold, clean, running riverine
waters, but also occurs in lakes. Omnivorous, the fish feeds on vegetable matter, as well
as crustaceans, insects and spiders, molluscs, zooplankton, and smaller fishes, such as
Eurasian minnows. The grayling occurs in National Park Šumava, Czech Republic.

16. The Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar)
The colouration of young Atlantic salmon does not resemble the adult stage. While
they live in fresh water, they have blue and red spots. At maturity, they take on a silver-
blue sheen. The salmon has a well-developed teeth. All fins are bordered with black.
