Why would anyone leave a lucrative corporate position, an easy volunteer job, or a rewarding nonprofit program position and accept a job as a fundraiser? Yikes! You have to ask people for money?!?
Guess what? Hundreds of thousands of people are doing it, succeeding at it, and loving it. Is it for you?
Many nonprofits struggle with ineffective boards. Why? Most often it is because they do not take the board recruitment process seriously. This is a year round job that has to be done by the best and brightest of your board members.
If you want your board to be successful, take board recruitment seriously. Don't just think about the "old 3 G's" Learn Linda's "New Three G's" and you'll be able to transform your board into a powerful force in governance and fundraising.
Get rid of your nominating committee and start working on building an effective board for your nonprofit.
Learn how nonprofits can be more successful at raising money from their local business communities, how to involve corporate leaders, how to develop a case statement that shows the economic and social impact your organization has on your community, and how to run an annual corporate appeal. Buy the book at new workbook at www.LindaLysakowski.com.
Does your board run screaming when they hear the "F" word--fundraising? Learn how to get them comfortable with and enthused about fundraising. Turn your board members into roaring advocates for your organization, and help them become enthusiastic cheerleaders for your fundraising activities.
How do you approach your board members to make their gifts to your annual appeal. It should not be done at a board meeting, or through the mail. Remember, your board members are major donors and should be treated as such. And do not "nickel-and-dime" them at every meeting. Building Stronger Donor Relations SystemsColin Cumming
In recent years, phrases like “culture of philanthropy” and “donor centricity” have hit the field by storm, often with budget-breaking strategies for implementation and little information about where to start when one may not be a decision-maker. Thus at the Johnson Center for Philanthropy's Brown Bag Lunch & Learn Series, I facilitated a discussion about the importance of donor relations when it comes to long-term fundraising success and ethical fundraising practices. I also talked about the role of fundraising in the context of arts and cultural organizations.
The goal of the event was for participants to walk away with easy to understand ideas for their own organizations and volunteer roles. I discussed: Donor relations and fundraising from a historical perspective; How to integrate engaging donor relations practices into your fundraising program; Fund development challenges specific to membership-based organizations, arts and cultural organizations, and organizations that frequently request general operating funds.
Board members play a critical role in ensuring necessary resources – both human and financial – for any organization, however breaking down exactly what that means is often a mystery. Experience how to leverage the board ambassador role for ensuring financial resources and healthy processes for recruiting and engaging current and prospective board members.
The facilitated discussion will provide board and staff with information on:
• Nonprofit governance roles and responsibilities
• Shared leadership roles between board and staff
• The comparison between corporate and not-for-profit boards
• Strategies for serving as an ambassador to raise funds
• Specific tools for a strong board building cycle

Russian anarchist and anti-war movement in the third year of full-scale warAntti Rautiainen
Anarchist group ANA Regensburg hosted my online-presentation on 16th of May 2024, in which I discussed tactics of anti-war activism in Russia, and reasons why the anti-war movement has not been able to make an impact to change the course of events yet. Cases of anarchists repressed for anti-war activities are presented, as well as strategies of support for political prisoners, and modest successes in supporting their struggles.
