The curious case of Zoe Grace
About a young quirky girl who opens up to a camera in the
comfort of her own home about a plan to pursue Calvin
Johnson, but her “best friend” gets in the way, and
changes the whole thing.
3. Character Information
Zoe Grace- A young 16 year old girl, quirky and quiet,
she likes vlogging her plans of life and feelings that she
hides from the outside world, an only child with busy
parents.
Calvin Johnson- 16 year old boy, similar character to
Zoe but a more closed book.
Charlotte- Zoe’s bestfriend
4. Synopsis
Act 1
ZOE, keeps a ‘video blog’ about her pursuit of the perfect romance, She’s
very enthusiastic about this, until the day comes for day 1 of her plan to
happen.
Act 2
Zoe’s best friend, who knows everything about her ‘Plan’ to pursue a
relationship with Calvin, intervenes with this. Jealous, she tries to win
Calvin over before Zoe gets a chance too.
Act 3
Everything she imagined to become true before with Calvin, she imagines
now it all happening with her friend, as Zoe stands on the sidelines and
watches it all, whilst she creates videos about her angry feelings, but hiding
it all when outside of her bedroom.
5. Audience
Our campaign is aimed at teens
both male and female aged 12-
20
We chose this audience as after
pearl and dean research into
films of a similar kind to ours
(Submarine and 500 days of
summer), Their film audience
was both even boy and girls
mostly aged 15-24, this is why
we’ve chose to target our
audience of a similar age to
these films of 12-20.
6. Marketing campaign ideas
A distinct look for characters in both the trailer, poster
and magazine cover, using colours such as blues,
yellows, reds and white in their costumes and poster
background.
7. Poster ideas
We want both Calvin and Zoe characters in the poster.
Zoe to reveal more through her facial expression by
looking towards him longingly whilst Calvin has blank
expression looking straight into the camera.
We liked the thought bubbles used in the ‘500 days of
summer’ poster, which helped hint towards the story of
the film.
