The students wanted to make a chick flick film for their class project that would be interesting yet approachable. They propose a plot where the main character falls in love with another girl after moving to a new town. This would challenge conventions by having a same-sex relationship as the central storyline. The film aims to still be relatable to a wide audience like traditional chick flicks through humor and addressing how love can be experienced across different sexualities and genders.
The document discusses how a film project portrays various social groups through its characters and elements. It introduces a lower-class male teenage protagonist who struggles with relationships and getting up early for college, representing typical teenage experiences. However, the characters are all white, showing a lack of ethnic diversity that could be seen as racist. Elements like dark lighting, rock music, and a college setting provide context about the protagonist's personality and life as a teenager.

The document discusses the author's preference for comedy films over other genres like action or horror. Some of the reasons provided are that comedy films often include references to other works, have big celebrity casts due to "star theory", and don't require complex storylines. Three comedy films are then summarized: The Hangover, Superbad, and Pulp Fiction. Concepts like intertextuality, reception theory, and active spectatorship are also defined in relation to how audiences engage with and interpret films.
The target audience for the media product is primarily females aged 15-20. However, the document aims to appeal to a wider audience to maximize profits. It does this by including a relatable male lead character and a timeless story that could appeal to older viewers. Focus groups of the target demographic were consulted to help shape elements like whether to include a voiceover. The document argues that appealing to both the tastes of the creators will help make the film appealing to different types of teenage girls within the target audience.
Romantic comedies primarily target teenage and young adult females because their lighthearted stories are easy to watch. They are usually set in the UK or US where most of the target audience lives, making the settings relatable. Actors in rom-coms also tend to be from these places and are recognizable figures that can attract larger audiences. While some men may watch with a partner, the target audience for rom-coms is typically girly females who enjoy emotionally engaging narratives, rather than sporty interests. They tend to care about their appearance and be bubbly and friendly.
This document discusses aspects of targeting an audience for a gangster film, including:
- Creating a mood board with screenshots from films like Goodfellas and The Godfather to convey the genres of strong violence, special effects, and a love story.
- The intended audience is ages 17-40, as younger viewers may find strong language and violence offensive, and older viewers may find some aspects offensive. It targets a typical heterosexual and working/middle class audience.
- Feedback from test audiences noted modern aspects like a gun and clothing that prevented the opening from seeming set in the 1960s as intended, so clarification was added that it is actually set in the 1990s in the style of 1960s
To attract their target audience of 15-24 year old males, the filmmakers chose an attractive 18-year old female protagonist, Petrie Kimber, who resembles characters from popular horror films. They also included creepy and damaged dolls and toys to appeal to the audience's memories of abandoning their own toys. Additionally, they incorporated a diary into the opening sequence to draw in teenage girls by playing on stereotypes about girls that age keeping diaries.
The target audience for the media product is 16-18 year olds. This age group can relate to and empathize with the teenage main characters. Having creators and characters of the same age means there is a deep understanding of appealing to other teenagers. Both male and female teenagers are targeted by including strong and capable characters of both genders that break stereotypes commonly seen in thriller films. The primary ethnicity targeted is white British, reflecting the creators and characters, but the story should still be relatable to all. Sexuality is not a focus, so all sexual orientations are included in the target audience. The target audience would enjoy thrillers and be interested in popular culture references included to make the characters more relatable.
The document discusses the age rating of 15 that would be given to a film containing strong violence, frequent strong language, drug use, discriminatory content, or sexual references. Such a film is aimed at audiences ages 15 and older. While both male and female adults could view it, the main character being a college student would make the film most relatable to younger viewers in their late teens and early twenties. An age rating of 15 is therefore appropriate.

Sparks Productions believes the film's realistic plot and characters will appeal to audiences aged 18-25. They plan to cast unknown teenage actors and promote the film heavily on social media to connect with their target audience.
Females, especially teenagers and young adults, make up the primary target audience for romantic comedies due to finding the light-hearted nature of these films easy to watch. Reviews on sites like IMDB show that women consistently rate romantic comedies higher than men across all age groups. These films are usually set in the UK or US where much of the target audience lives, making the settings more relatable. While some romantic comedies find global audiences, most actors in the genre are from the UK or US due to their film market dominance and recognizability. Less serious film fans and those who prefer less cerebral films tend to watch romantic comedies. The target female audience enjoys emotionally engaging narratives and are more likely to have

This document provides an overview of the history and evolution of the romantic comedy genre. It discusses the origins of rom coms in Shakespearean plays and early 20th century films. It then outlines different subgenres that developed over time, such as comedies of manner in the 1930s, screwball comedies in the 1930s focusing on fast-paced dialogue, and sex comedies from the 1950s-1970s highlighting differences between men and women. Radical romantic comedies in the 1960s focused on personal happiness rather than relationships. Recent neotraditional rom coms emphasize compatibility and compromise. 1. A music video treatment for the song "All My Life" by Foo Fighters that uses dark lighting effects, slow and fast motion, and cuts between scenes of a singer in a black light room and the band playing to build intensity.
2. A story treatment for the myth of Icarus that shows Icarus and his father Daedalus crafting wings to escape imprisonment, Icarus disobeying instructions and flying too close to the sun, and ultimately plunging into the sea after his wax wings melt. The treatment includes 10 storyboard-style scenes depicting the key events.
Most radio content is scripted before broadcast to ensure all necessary information is covered and schedules are adhered to. Scripts are used for segments like announcements, music sequences, and features covering topics like science, business and entertainment. Scripting helps presenters stay on schedule and avoid overrunning or underrunning segments. While listeners may think some content is improvised, pre-writing scripts allows radio stations to effectively plan and structure their broadcasts.
The document provides guidance for students submitting a short film proposal as part of an advanced media portfolio course. Students must individually develop and submit a proposal for a 5-minute film. The best proposal will be selected for production by a group. Proposals should include details on the working title, narrative outline, genre influences, locations, casting, props/costumes, and equipment needed. Students are advised to keep ideas simple, use minimal dialogue, include a twist, and avoid drug deals, car chases, sex scenes, and fights.
This document outlines the schedule and content for the "Smooth Mornings" radio program hosted by DJ Anne and DJ Angel on 106.8 Foxy Light Radio. DJs Anne and Angel engage with listeners by asking questions, reading responses on Facebook, thanking sponsors, and providing contact information. The program aims to help listeners relax and enjoy love songs.
The document discusses how a film targeted a 16-25 demographic by featuring a main character and actress of the same age. Locations like a café were used because they are familiar places the target audience frequents. The cliffhanger opening shows the character stealing money and being locked in a freezer, intriguing audiences about whether she is victim or villain. Overall, the narrative is accessible to the target demographic despite being less complex than films aimed at adults.
The document discusses how a film targeted a 16-25 year old audience. It did this by having a main character and actress who were both 17 years old, so the audience could relate to her. It also used normal, everyday locations like a cafe that the target demographic would visit regularly. The cliffhanger scene of the main character being locked in a freezer by her stalker encapsulated common fears to draw in the audience. Overall, the film aimed to attract its target youth audience by using relatable elements they could connect with in the characters and situations.
This document discusses the target audience for a proposed "chick flick" media product. The primary audience would be pre-teen and early teen girls because the film focuses on lighthearted and comic themes of innocent romance, specifically a school girl's crush, rather than serious relationships. Examples are given of popular pre-teen chick flicks like Wild Child that similarly focus on crushes. It is noted the film may include infrequent mild language to reflect realistic dialogue of school-aged girls. An age rating of 12 is proposed to allow for such occasional language.
The document provides details on the planning for a movie trailer titled "Circ le Rouge". It discusses the target audience as ages 12 and up, and both sexes. It also outlines potential distribution channels like MTV and Film4. Details on the genre, plot, actors, funding, and presentation of ideas are given to fully conceptualize the trailer.
The document discusses targeting a teen audience, specifically 15-24 year olds, for a film. It notes that while males attend cinema slightly more, females are more expressive fans of fantasy and horror genres like Twilight. Therefore, the film aims its opening more at females but amplifies the darkness of themes to appeal more to male cinema-goers. It also provides an example audience profile of 16 year old Lucy, who is a fan of shows like Twilight and enjoys mature-content targeted at teenagers.

This document discusses targeting a film towards 15-24 year olds, particularly teenage girls who liked films like Twilight that combined romance with horror or fantasy themes. It profiles 16 year old Lucy as a typical target audience member who enjoys vampire-themed shows and British boy bands from the early 2000s.
The document discusses how a media product represents teenagers as the target social group. It uses a typical teenage girl as the sole character so as not to represent any particular social group or exclude others. Scenes were designed to be relatable to a teenage/young adult audience by portraying the character home alone like many of them after school. The mise-en-scene of her bedroom and clothes were crafted to depict a stereotypical "girly girl" teenager to match thriller conventions and engage the intended young audience.
The document provides an evaluation of a horror film called "Voices" produced by the author. It summarizes how the film uses conventions of the horror genre, such as introducing the main character alone to develop sympathy, leaving parts of the story ambiguous to create suspense. It discusses how the film represents social groups by subverting gender roles and portraying a normal family with an abnormal daughter. The target audience is identified as those aged 15-40 who enjoy suspense and disturbance in horror films.
The document discusses the process of creating a thriller opening for a class project. It describes how the group researched different thriller genres and films to understand conventions and aesthetics. They examined physiological, supernatural, and neo-noir thrillers. Based on this research, the group decided on the name "Remember Me" for their thriller. They used techniques like non-linear storytelling with flashbacks. Camera angles, lighting, and editing styles were adapted from the researched films to set mood. Through the process, the student learned about filming, editing, and technologies used in media production.
The document summarizes the research and development process for a student thriller film project titled "Remember Me." The students examined physiological, supernatural, and neo-noir thrillers to understand conventions of the genre. They focused on camera techniques, music, and portraying a troubled teenage girl protagonist and her dysfunctional family relationships. The goal was to create an artistic thriller that could appeal to teenagers and be distributed through independent film festivals and art house cinemas. Social media would be important for marketing to younger audiences.
In the course Entertainment and Marketing Promotion, each student was assigned to a student film to create a marketing plan for. This project taught me how to create a marketing plan for a film both as a major Hollywood film and a student film.
The document analyzes several teen movies from the early 2000s with similar formats to the film "Spinning Time" that is being researched. It summarizes key details about each film's budget, box office gross, teen stars, and critical reception. Overall, the research found that while some films were financially successful, none reached the scale of the highest grossing films that year, demonstrating the niche audience for "chick flicks." Insights from analyzing the films' protagonists and humor/slapstick elements will inform choices for the leading lady and style of the protagonist in "Spinning Time."
This document discusses the target audience and potential distribution for a student film called "Peephole". The film uses horror conventions like graphic violence and explores themes of relationships and jealousy. It represents females in nontraditional roles like the antagonist. The suggested target age is 15-18 to get the largest possible audience while staying within BBFC ratings guidelines. Potential distributors mentioned include larger studios like Universal Pictures known for horror films, or smaller niche companies like Hammer Film Productions. Student feedback on the film was also discussed to continue improving it.
Our media product uses conventions of the thriller genre such as setting scenes in woods and using ominous music. We challenge conventions by having a female antagonist rather than a male one. The product represents young, middle class white females and uses techniques like point of view shots to make the audience feel vulnerable. It would likely be distributed as a TV movie on Channel 4 due to its young audience and low budget. The learner has gained skills in filming, editing software, and collaborating with others to create the product.
The target audience for the media product is 16-18 year olds. This age group can relate to and empathize with the teenage main characters. Both male and female teenagers are targeted by including strong male and female leads that break from typical gender stereotypes. While most of the 6th form students involved in producing the film are white British, the film's focus on suspense means all ethnicities could engage with the narrative. The target audience would be interested in thrillers and pop culture references, enjoy activities like exercise and socializing, and get thrill from watching mysterious events unfold safely in the cinema.
The document provides an analysis of a student-created horror/thriller film titled "Voices" that follows conventions of real media products in the genre. It uses techniques like mysterious pre-title sequences, investigations of strange events, and an unsettling soundtrack. The film represents a working-class family and targets teenagers as its audience through relatable characters and settings. The student learned about using technologies like online research, filming equipment, and internet distribution through constructing this media project.
Stop motion animation is achieved by recording individual still frames of motion and playing them back sequentially to create the illusion of continuous movement. Each frame is a slightly altered version of the previous frame with objects moved in small increments. This labor intensive process can involve manipulating physical objects, cutouts, or live actors frame-by-frame to simulate movement. Different stop motion techniques produce varied effects and involve altering material positions gradually over many frames to depict animation.

The document discusses several different music genres that could be used for a music video project, including country music, R&B, rap, soul music, and pop music. Examples of songs are provided for each genre along with brief descriptions of their history and conventions. The document aims to help pick a genre to base the music video concept and style on.
The document discusses several different music genres that could be used for a music video project, including country music, R&B, rap, soul music, and pop music. Examples of songs are provided for each genre along with brief descriptions of their history and evolution. Country music originated in the southern US in the 1920s while R&B developed in the 1940s combining elements of blues, gospel, and soul. Rap uses rhyming lyrics often accompanied by drums or electronics. Soul music originated in the US combining gospel, R&B, and has sub-genres like psychedelic and blue-eyed soul. Pop comes from "popular" music aimed at youth and builds on existing styles.
WolfPack Productions learned about proper camera techniques and framing shots in creating their full film project, as opposed to dealing with actors in their preliminary task. They feel an institution like Film 4 that supports independent films would be suitable to distribute their film. Their target audience is males and females ages 15 to 25, reflected in the film's 15 rating, and they would attract this audience through ads and an official Facebook group to inform them of screenings and premieres.
What have we learned about the technologies from the process of constructing ...Abbeyfield
The document discusses the technologies learned during the construction of an opening for a film. They experimented with different camera techniques before finding the best shot required the camera to be further away from the actors. They also learned how to keep the camera steady without a squeaky tripod. While the video editing software Adobe Premier initially seemed complex, seeking help from teachers made it easier to edit and add effects to the opening. Adding voiceovers required learning how to incorporate audio on the timeline. Uploading files to Tumblr was initially difficult for some, and the school internet not always cooperating made uploads challenging but working from home helped overcome this.

The document analyzes the opening two minutes of the film "Aquamarine" in terms of genre, characterization, titles, and mood/tone. It establishes that the genre is a pre-teen girly movie. Through focusing on two teenage girls on the beach and a male lifeguard, the opening establishes the characters and setting of the film partly under the sea and on the beach. Blue water-like fonts are used for the characters, producers, and directors names as well as the title to represent the sea. The opening conveys a happy, magical mood and tone through the visuals and music.
The document discusses how the filmmakers addressed their target audience of adolescents for a "chick flick" film. They chose an attractive blonde protagonist who fits stereotypes. Popular up-to-date music known to teenagers was used. The film features themes of identity, family issues, and moments that drastically change beliefs, which adolescents can relate to. Special care was taken to accurately portray the protagonist's room, appearance, and lifestyle as a wealthy teenage girl through her hair, makeup, clothing and decor.

This is the shot list for our film 'Nobody's perfect'- Remember with shot lists that they are not in chronological order but in the order in which you are going to film so its easier in editing.
The document discusses various camera shots used in filmmaking and what each shot achieves. An extreme close up focuses on very small details like a character's facial expression. A close up shows a character's head and shoulders to reveal details. A mid close up is slightly more pulled back than a close up. A mid shot shows a character from the waist up. A long shot captures the whole body from the ground up. A two shot includes two people to highlight their interaction, often cutting to an over the shoulder shot of the speaking character.
Narrative provides an insight into how the film will develop and also hints at how the film will end. There are four different types of narrative: Linear, Non-linear, Omniscient and Restricted.

LAND USE LAND COVER AND NDVI OF MIRZAPUR DISTRICT, UPRAHUL
This Dissertation explores the particular circumstances of Mirzapur, a region located in the
core of India. Mirzapur, with its varied terrains and abundant biodiversity, offers an optimal
environment for investigating the changes in vegetation cover dynamics. Our study utilizes
advanced technologies such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Remote sensing to
analyze the transformations that have taken place over the course of a decade.
The complex relationship between human activities and the environment has been the focus
of extensive research and worry. As the global community grapples with swift urbanization,
population expansion, and economic progress, the effects on natural ecosystems are becoming
more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and
cover support policymakers and scientists in making well-informed decisions, as alterations in
these patterns indicate shifts in economic and social conditions. Monitoring such changes with the
help of Advanced technologies like Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems is
crucial for coordinated efforts across different administrative levels. Advanced technologies like
Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems

Changes in vegetation cover refer to variations in the distribution, composition, and overall
structure of plant communities across different temporal and spatial scales. These changes can
occur natural.

1. S.E.L.L productions film treatment- script for our pitch<br />Speaker 1: <br />The film follows Felicity Harrison, a seventeen year old female who has spent her life being pampered, polished and generally living in perfection in an environment where £5,000 is small change. She studies at prestigious, £20,000 a term St. Josephs’ Academy, where she is popular and happy. At an annual polo match sponsored by her father’s hotel company she discovers she is to be the sole heir to his multi-billion pound business however, a few days later, at the summer party her family hosts every July she makes a horrific discovery about her own friends and family. Distraught at the now shattered illusion of her upper-class existence she flees to Scotland to settle herself. Felicity decides to start her life afresh in a small village she once holidayed in away from her dishonest, fake family and friends- soon after she meets a young man who explains how her family has affected the village more than she could have ever realised. As her inheritance is taken away from her on the condition that she must reconcile with her family and friends, Felicity begins to understand the true meaning of independence and concocts a plan on how to put things right.<br />Speaker 2:<br />Our intended audience is females around the age of 12-20. This broad gap, we believe, is conventional for the chick-flick genre; cut movie ‘Mean girls’ held a ‘12’ certificate despite alluding much more to mature themes (sex, alcohol) and is enjoyed by females of a much older age. Similarly, 90s flick ‘Clueless’, starring the late Brittany Murphy, was watched by a much broader age range than first appears. We feel that, as female teenagers, we know the genre well from our own experience of the genre and also from being immersed in the world of young people.<br />Speaker 3:<br />From viewing other chick-flicks, we can recognise the typical pattern of this genre; the female protagonist is unpopular at her school and has a problem which is not uncommon (bullying, peer pressure- for example) and will go through trials and tribulations to overcome this problem. Examples of this include ‘A Cinderella story’, the ‘Lizzie McGuire’ franchise, and ‘Sydney White’.<br />Speaker 4:<br />However we found that some of the more classic chick-flicks deviated from these formula quite drastically; cult chick-flick ‘Mean girls’ is based ultimately on the concept of popularity, as was 1989 dark comedy ‘Heathers’- both revolved around the idea that having it all did not always bring happiness. Other films that showed popular or wealthy characters were ‘Bring it on’ and ‘Clueless’, We noticed that these appealed to a broader age range and also were a lot more successful.<br />Speaker 1:<br />Arguably our film is similar in this respect; not many fifteen year old girls are rich, but we feel this is our films unique selling point- Felicity, our protagonist, has an unfamiliar life, one that doubtless teenage girls will enjoy observing. ’Clueless’ shows the life of an insufferably rich and vain girl with whom the audiences nonetheless sympathise. The audiences’ expectations will therefore be satisfied as our film follows the recent expansion of the chick flick genre, away from the cliché of an unpopular girl struggling with a very typical day-to-day problem.<br />Speaker 2:<br />S.E.L.L. productions intend to giver our film, ‘Nobody’s Perfect’, a certificate of ‘12’ under BBFC guidelines, while our target audience for the film would be older teenagers, having a 15-certificate would unnecessarily restrict the audience.<br />Most chick-flicks revolve around teenage girls, and the relationships between them, while our film focuses largely on Felicity Harrison as an individual- it does include the other themes typical to the genre; identity, independence and growing up. Other conventions include school and family life, status, popularity and lifestyle- all of which our in our film. <br />Speaker 3:<br />We believe the reason our film is successfully tailored to our audience is due to how it runs alongside the genres’ conventions without being clichéd or predictable.<br />Speaker 4:<br />Our film ‘Nobody’s perfect’ begins with showing Felicity’s morning routine, This is similar to other chick-flick films such as ‘Clueless’ and ‘Bratz’ an develops the two most important features of an opening- characterisation and setting.<br />Speaker 1:<br />Felicity is shown waking up and getting ready for school, the time it takes her to prepare- as well as the amount of time she spends in the mirror- emphasises her characters’ superficial and vain attitude and a brief conversation with her sister over breakfast reveals a little about Felicity’s family life and situation. Other details about her friends and personality are told via a voice-over.<br />Speaker 2:<br />The reason we decided to use this opening is firstly because it fits with chick-flick conventions and secondly because it is more effective to ‘show’ the character rather than simply telling the audience about your protagonist. We have a voiceover to introduce more implicit details such as the names of her friends and her own situation, but also the display of a morning routine to show the audience her personality and lifestyle. <br />
