Darmi lived with her poor widow mother but was ashamed of her mother's appearance and status. When they went to the market, Darmi told traders that her mother was her servant, hurting her mother deeply. Her mother prayed for punishment, and Darmi was turned to stone by God. She remains as a stone that cries, called the Crying Stone, as a lesson about respecting one's mother.

The Crying Stone
One upon a time, lived a poor old widow in a small village. She lived
with her daughter. Her daughter was very beautiful but also very lazy and
arrogant. She never helped her mother and didn’t want to know what
problem her mother had. Everyday, she put make up and wears her best
clothes. She always wanted to look rich and beautiful
One day, the mother and her daughter went to the market to buy
some food.
Darmi’s mom: “Darmi, please accompany mom to the market?”
She didn’t want to walk with her mother
Darmi : “All right, but I don’t want to walk at your side, you have to
walk behind.”

2. (Darmi’s mom sad listened to her daughter, but the Darmi’s mom
agreeing to walk behind her)
On the way to the market, everybody admired the girl's beauty. But
they were also curious. Behind the beautiful girl, there was an old woman
with a simple dress. The girl and her mother looked very different.
Trader 1: “Hello beautiful girl. Who is the old woman behind you? is
she your mother?”
Darmi : “No, she is not my mom. She is my servant.”
Darmi’s mom was very sad to hear that, but she didn’t say anything. She
could understand that her dayughter was ashamed.
Darmi and her mother met other people again. They asked who the
woman behind the beautiful girl.
Trader 2 : “Who is the old woman behind you?”
Darmi : “No, She is my servant.”
Trader 2 : “No wonder, the old and ragged clothes.”
(Mother darmi sad and offended, then he said to darmi)
Darmi’s mom : “Darmi, how can you telling people that I'm not your
mother?”
Darmi : “Mother, I have to do that, because I don’t want anyone to
know that you are my mother. we look so different.”

3. Darmi’s mom: “Darmi enough! You've hurt me!
you must respect me as a mother.”
(Because it can’t withstand the pain. He prayed to God to punish his
daughter)
Darmi’s mom : “Ya Allah .... I couldn’t see my daughter's behavior,
she was already deep in my violated. Please give him the punishment
that she was sorry for what she did to me.”
Suddenly, the girl's leg turns into stone. Slowly, the process
continues to the upper part of the girl's body. The girl was in panic.
(And God answers prayer Darmi’si mother. Slowly Darmi turned into
stone)
Darmi: “Mom, please forgivr me! Mother!!”
She cried and asked her mother to forgive her. But it's already too
late. Her whole body finally becomes a big stone. Until now, people can
still see tears falling down from the stone. People then call it batu
menangis (it mean the crying stone)
