This document provides instructions for students to document their progress on constructing a foundation portfolio. It instructs students to create a diary planning their time and tasks. It also instructs students to blog about photography shoots, take photos of the process, and create contact sheets of photos selecting a few to analyze. Students should take screenshots of their editing process in software and upload drafts of their work by December 20th to get feedback and compare to professional work to improve. The goal is for students to document their portfolio construction process and progress through blogging, photos, and drafts to receive marks.

2. Get Organised
1. Make a post which creates a
diary of how you intend to
organise your time – 1st draft
of your product is due in Dec
20th. What will you do each
lesson and how will you use
you 4.5 hours of homework
time?
2. Book a photography slot and
book the equipment you
require for filming /
photography.

3. Document your progress
Keep your blog updated by doing the following;
1. Blog about your shoots. What footage did you collect? How
well did it go? What do you still need to do?
2. Take on set images, blog them and annotate them. This
evidences your skill in directing and using the equipment.
3. Take images of your organising your models – photos of
doing hair and make up etc.

4. Create contact
sheets
Print producers should
create a contact sheet
of all of the
photographs that you
took on your shoot.
Then pick out 4-5 per
shoot and discuss the
strengths and
weaknesses of each –
distance, angle, pose,
lighting, focus etc.

5. Screen Shot the editing process
Take screen shots of everything that you make and
discuss the skills you’ve developed and features of
the software that you’ve used. You only need 4-5
screen shots per page (print), rough cut (video),
soundscape (video) and logos/titles (video).

6. Part of your R&P marks are
made up from drafting. Your
first rough cut is due in 20th

For both;
1.Compare your draft with a professional product and discuss strengths of your work
but areas that need improving (we’ll blog a list of things that you should be
commenting)
2.Get some feedback from peers, friends and teachers. Is it readable as the intended
genre? Is it clear what it’s about? Does it look professional? How could it be improved?
3.Set yourself some progression targets. What do you need to do to improve this
product?
