Cabaret Movie Comparison
After watching both of the films for this week I definitely noticed a difference in the film narratives
due to musical numbers and how they were integrated. While watching 42nd Street, the musical
numbers were quite confusing to me. I struggled to understand how they provided context to the film.
As I did not see how they fit within the storyline of the films. I also believe the disconnection between
the numbers and the film made me question, the films event s and I thought I misunderstood certain
moments in the film because the musical numbers did not make sense. I also did not enjoy the fact that
during the numbers themselves there was dialogue going on and the focus shifted during the number. I
think this lessened the impact of the number ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was as if the focus was the music numbers opposed to the films, which in my opinion is the best part
of a musical. I enjoyed watching the numbers and seeing the elaborate costumes and details that were
put into them. Furthermore, in Cabaret, one could tell that the music numbers really fit in with the film
and provided more insight into what was going on. A good example of this was the during the musical
number Maybe This Time sung by Sally which demonstrated her relationship with Brian and how it
has evolved. Their relationship turned into more than a friendship and as the number goes on Sally
sings of the hope she has of this relationship being the real deal and withstanding the test of
time.Through this musical number the audience is able to understood how Sally is feeling without the
use of any actual dialogue. I do believe there is some relation between the context of integration/non
integration and the contexts in which the films were made. 42nd Street was created during the Great
Depression and it seems as if there was some caution in terms of the film was made. It seems as if the
events of the film were more so on the safe side and no feathers were

North Judson Community Assessment Report
To what extent are recreational supports accessible to all community members? The parks located in
downtown North Judson are free to the community members, which makes them very accessible and
affordable for families as well as visitors from other communities. Kathy Lambert, an administrative
assistant at St. Peter Lutheran School states that art, music, physical education, sewing and knitting
classes are free to the students that attend St. Peter Lutheran School. However, they are not offered
free to all the community members, which make them less accessible (personal communication,

These theories have been used by Nissan to improve their productivity. However JIT and Lean
Combined together makes Toyota Production System. For more clarity I am discussing each theory
individually first is JIT is a continuous process and it forces problem by reduced inventory. With this
theory only material are called when they are needed according to the demand. The JIT is also broken
down in to five segments which are JIT Partnerships which exist when a supplier and a purchaser
work together with open communication and a target of removing waste and lowering down the cost.
The second is JIT layouts which is designed to reduce the movements. JIT materials layout place
material directly where they are needed. The third is JIT inventory which works to overcome any
hurdle if arises in the way. The fourth is JIT scheduling where effective schedules are communicated
both within the organization and to outside suppliers. By being able to utilize these methods Nissan
would able to overhaul their process and work to create a JIT environment to utilize all methods and
start saving tremendous amount of overhead and expenditures. Like other theories there are some
advantages and disadvantages of JIT. Advantages include efficient replenishment systems, more free
space, less manpower required to maintain the inventory levels. The disadvantages are Vulnerable to
any demand fluctuation caused by reason i.e. natural disaster, dependency on their supplier is high

The Hubble Telescope and Its Discoveries Essay
Hubble Space Telescope and Significant Discoveries
Funding was approved in 1977 for a Large Space Telescope in 1977 and in 1983 it was renamed
Hubble Space Telescope in honor of astronomer Edwin P. Hubble who discovered evidence of an
expanding universe and the existence of other galaxies. Work was completed in 1985 and it was
launched and deployed from the Space Shuttle Discovery in April of 1990, 350 miles above earth.
Since its deployment, there have been five services, each service to perform corrective and preventive
maintenance, add upgrades to the equipment, or both. In 2011, the Hubble space Telescope celebrated
its millionth observation, the spectroscopic analysis of HAT P 7b an exoplanet orbiting around the star
HAT P 7 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Based on observations of galaxies, galaxy clusters and cosmic microwave background, scientists
determined that most of the universe s mass is composed of dark matter. Dark matter does not emit
light but can be detected by the way its gravity distorts the images of the background galaxies. Using
large 3 D models of the distribution, scientists have determined dark matter clumping increases over
time (Livio, 2010).
The Hubble Space Telescope has been key in not only confirming the universe s expansion but also
the further defining the rate of the expansion. Edwin Hubble in 1929 provided the first evidence of the
expansion of the universe and its finite age with his Hubble constant. The constant says that the farther
a galaxy is the faster the acceleration, therefore the universe is expanding. The ability of the Hubble
Telescope to resolve Cepheid variable stars farther out than could previously be done by ground based
telescope allowed scientists to see further out and therefore longer periods of time than they ever
could before. This ability to look further back in the past has allowed scientists to better define the
expansion rate of the universe. When Hubble was first launched, the expansion rate was estimated
between 50 100 km/sec/Mpc. In 1994 it was determined to be 80 km/sec/Mpc with a 10 percent rate of
error. In 2009, scientists, using observations of Cepheids in faraway galaxies, were able to narrow

Corruption as a Consequence of Colonialism
Corruption as a Consequence of Colonialism as portrayed in Achebe s The African Trilogy
All quotations are taken from the 1988 Picador edition of Chinua Achebe s The African Trilogy
He has put a knife on all the things that held us together and we have fallen apart (Things Fall Apart,
145)
The things that held the Igbo tribe together were their close bonds of clan kinship, unified allegiance
to their gods, and their democratic society. These were the very things that the English set out to
attack, to put a knife on . Once they began this process, Igbo society was never to be the same again.

This confusion at the refusal of the Igbos to accept positions such as this is well illustrated in Arrow of
God:
Well, are you accepting the offer or not? Clarke glowed with the I know this will knock you over

Tell the white man that Ezeulu will not be anybody s chief, except Ulu
What! shouted Clarke. Is the fellow mad?
I tink so sah, said the interpreter.
In that case he goes back to prison. Clarke was now really angry. What cheek! A witch doctor making
a fool of the British Administration in public! (498)
The selection of Ezeulu as a potential Warrant Chief is typical of the kind of selection regularly made
by the British a man who was already in the possession of real authority and wealth in his community.
However, the responses of those chosen were not always as idealistic as Ezeulu s. Many Igbos jumped
at the chance of some real power, safe in the knowledge that they were backed by British officials, and
Warrant chiefs became notorious for their corruption and exploitation. Speaking of the Warrant Chief

Essay on Why the American Civil War Lasted for Longer Than...
Why the American Civil War lasted for longer than 90 days The North had expected their war with the
south to last for no more than 90 days. They not only had more men up in the north but they had more
resources as well. Now why couldn t they defeat the south? I have to say it is due to the incompetence
of the north s generals commanding the army, and the army itself. On April 15, 1861, President
Lincoln called on the states to provide 75,000 militia men for 90 days to put down the rebellion of the
south.
On the other hand, the south had the state of Virginia on its side; this gave them a better chance of
victory. It was the home of Robert E. Lee, a brave leader who had been Lincoln s choice for
commanding the union army. When Virginia ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

men who were used to the outdoors and were skilled in firing guns. The first major battle of the Civil
War was fought in Virginia, near the Manassas; this battle later became known as The Battle of Bull
Run. At the beginning of the five hour battle the Union soldiers had the Confederates on the retreat,
except for one brigade commanded by General Jackson. Due to Jackson s ability to hold his ground
and his stubbornness, the men saw him and his militia to resemble a stone wall; hence he earned the
nickname Stonewall Jackson. Thanks to Jackson the Confederates were able to hold out until General
Johnston showed up with 9000 reinforcements to help out General Beauregard. The arrival changed
the course of the battle and soon the Union soldiers were fleeing back to Washington. However,
because of the disorganization of Beauregard s army, they could not pursue McDowell any further.

The battle proved that this was not going to be a one sided war for either side, as was predicted. The
casualties soared to 2,900 killed, wounded, captured, or missing for McDowell s army and 2,000 for
Beauregard s. The battle spurred a sense of victory in the South, pushing them on, and in the North a
feeling for revenge.
If the union had simply prepared their army for battle rather than just jump into a war, they probably

Final Reflection Paper
1. Choosing a career is one of the most important decisions a person has to make in their life. It is so
important because that is what we will have to do to support ourselves throughout life. My whole life I
have always wanted to do something where people will remember me. Throughout this course, I have
learned that I do not know what I want to do with my chosen major. I do not regret majoring in
Criminal Justice because I m positive I want to do something within the criminal justice system. I
have learned that I m open to different ideas and career paths. Through the course, I have learned that
I m a great multi tasker, I m always prepared ahead of time with my deadlines and I never had to give
excuses as to why something is not done on time.
a. I never expected to learn more than what this class had to offer. Even though the semester is over, I
feel I ve learned a lot about myself, and life after college. I spent about half of the year wearing
sweatpants, baggy, flashy clothing, and I was okay with that because it s important to feel
comfortable. This semester, I have also learned that if you dress well you get the respectable attention
and needed. When I had the interview and had to dress up, I noticed many people looking my way and
praising me, I felt respected and felt good about myself as well. Stepping out of my comfort zone has
never felt so good. I believe this would help me in my future career to try new things and take risks.
All in all, I have learned that I

Sandberg on the Difference between Men and Women in the...
When you think of high power names in the workplace it s more often than not associated with men.
In fact, statistics show that of the top corporate jobs in America only 15% are held by women. What s
even more startling is that of all the fortune 500 CEOs only twenty one of them are women (Sandberg,
2013). These eye opening statistics show that although women have made great strides in the
workplace throughout the years one question remains; Why are there not more women in leadership
positions? Sheryl Sandberg, Facebook chief operating officer and author of Lean In: Women, Work,
and the Will to Lead examined the causes of this halt in progress and the possible solutions.
The first idea that Sandberg mentions in her book revolves around women underestimating their own
abilities. She states, If you ask men and women questions about completely objective criteria such as
GPAs or sales goals, men get it wrong slightly high; women get it wrong slightly low. More
importantly, if you ask men why they succeeded, men attribute that success to themselves; and
women, they attribute it to other factors like working harder, help from others, being lucky, etc
(Sandberg). After reading this puzzling fact, I started to wonder what factors played into these
differences in the ways of thinking between men and women.
An underlying message:
If you think about your childhood you were probably immersed with toys suiting your gender. If you

Jackie Robinson Impact On Society
A life is not important except in the impact it has on other lives Jackie Robinson (Baseball Almanac).
Jackie Robinson s life accomplished more than impacting others, he impacted a nation. His humble
upbringing, strong will, and fight for equality is unmatched by any other. He was one of the first
African Americans to stand up for equal rights and broke through many barriers to allow others to
fight with him. His Hall of Fame career on the baseball diamond is only a small piece to Jackie s story
of struggle and hardship to reach equality. Born on January 31, 1919 Jack Roosevelt Robinson was the
youngest of five children. His father left the family before Jackie turned one and shortly after his mom
moved the family from Georgia to California in search of work (Contemporary Black Biography).
Segregation was still present in California, but was less harsh than in the south. To get away from the
problems and racial prejudice, Jackie turned to sports. He was an exceptional athlete excelling in
football, baseball, basketball, and track in both high school and college. He played four sports for the
University of California Los Angeles (commonly known as UCLA). He was mostly a football and
basketball star and had no intentions of playing Major League baseball due to the fact that it was all
white. Jackie had always wanted to become a social worker to help underprivileged boys and hoped
that travelling the nation for sports would expose him to a job in that field

Border Corridos And Badman Ballads
Border corridos and Badman Ballads contain different style and techniques, however were shaped by
similar social and cultural factors in history, such as interethnic conflict and discrimination. Border
corridos and Badman Ballads each emerged from the oppression of a certain ethnic group, however
each has its own history. Border corridos revolve around the Texas Mexico border and illustrate the
effects of the The Mexican American War. During the Mexican American War, Mexico lost the battle
and the state of Texas, which made the Rio Grande the national border. As a result, Mexicans who
lived on the other side of the river had to decide between America and Mexico. The people who chose
to stay in America became Tejanos (Texan American) (Davis, Lecture) and their culture, language, and
property were respected due to the signing of the Treaty of Guadalupe (Flores, 167). However as
Anglo American settlers moved into Mexican territory, a land grab was institutionalized, which sold
most of Mexicans lands for cheap prices, due to the Mexican population s unawareness. Not only that,
but Texas officers known as Texas Rangers discriminated and violently treated ethnic Mexicans
(Davis, Lecture). The border corridors reflect the interethnic conflict between whites and Tejanos and
portray the injustice during those times. Similarly, Badman Ballads portrays the oppression of one
ethnic groups towards another. This ballad illustrates blacks discriminated by whites during the

Romeo And Juliet Love In Love Essay
Love is defined in many ways. Typically, people love friends, relatives, or someone they ve been in a
relationship with for an extended amount of time. It is hard to ignore the fact that Romeo and Juliet
takes place over the span of three days and the couple claims they re in love. The majority of people
believe that it s impossible to experience love at first sight, so Romeo and Juliet must be feeling lust. I
believe the couple was genuinely in love because they continued to love each other even throughout
their tough relationship, they both defied their parent s wishes, and they both took their own lives
when they heard their spouse was dead. The first reason I believe Romeo and Juliet genuinely loved
each other is they continued to love each other throughout their tough relationship. The two lovers
came from families who despise each other. It was nearly inconceivable for the families to get along.
In the process of pursuing their love Romeo s best friend Mercutio and Juliet s cousin Tybalt died.
After the night they met at the masquerade, Romeo risked his life to see Juliet in her chamber. Juliet
told Romeo If they do see thee they will murder thee. (II, ii, ll.70.), but until the brightness of the day
filled Verona, Romeo stayed risking his life. If a member of the Capulet family caught Romeo, he
would have been put to death, but to Romeo, it was more important to see Juliet then to live

In this way, decision trees provide accuracy and explanatory models where the decision tree model is
able to explain the reason of certain decisions using these decision rules. Decision trees could be used
in classification applications that target discrete value outcomes by classifying unclassified data based
on a pre classified dataset, for example, classifying credit card applicants into three classes of risk,
which are low, medium or high. Also, decision trees could be used in estimation applications that have
continuous outcomes by estimating value based on pre classified datasets, and in this case the tree is
called a regression tree, for example, estimating household income. Moreover, decision trees could be
used in prediction applications that have discrete or continuous outcomes by predicting future value
same as classification or estimation, for example, predicting credit card loan as good or bad. 2.1
Decision Tree Models
Decision tree models are explanatory models, which are English rules so they are easy to evaluate and
understand by people. The decision tree model is considered as a chain of rules that classify records in
different bins or classes called nodes [1]. Based on the model s algorithm, every node may have two
or more children or have no child, which is called in this case leaf node [1]. Building decision tree
models requires partitioning the pre classified dataset into three parts,

Jesus and Buddha are both considered to be the backbone to their respective religions.
Buddha and Jesus are both said to be conceived without their mothers enduring any kind of human

usually what leads to the complete depletion of the resource being exploited as the people causing the

Occurence At Owl Creek Bridge
The short story, An Occurence at Owl Creek Bridge by Ambrose Bierce, is quite strange and vivid in
its description of the final moments before death. It gives a sudden burst of hope to the reader with the
escape of main character, Peyton Farquhar. The story begins with Peyton being held hostage by
soldiers of the Union troops. They were preparing to hang him off of the Owl Creek Bridge. They
inched him closer and closer to the edge of the bridge with the noose around his neck. His heart was
pounding louder and faster each minute. His senses had enhanced so much that he could hear a small

Suddenly, the story cut to a flashback. It showed he and his wife having a conversation with one of the

Farquhar began to think of possible ways for him to make an escape. He believed that he could untie
his hands, plummet into the water down below, and swim to safety. He was able to free his hands from

French Colonialism In Vietnam
It was as if we had been transported to Saigon, Vietnam. As I walked into the elegant colonial villa
lookalike, the fans, suspended from the ceiling, turned slowly. The crudely painted walls were
decorated with louvered bamboo shutters and bleached sepia photographs of antique Vietnam; the
interestingly patterned tiled floors were suddenly broken off by the steep, creaky wooden staircase;
and the woven rattan furniture was accompanied by potted palms, banana trees, and purple
Dendrobium orchids. I was pulled back to reality when the hostess greeted us at the front desk. Right.
We were at Le Colonial. In spite of the busy, prestigious Gold Coast setting of downtown Chicago,
this noted up scale French Vietnamese restaurant nonetheless authentically ... Show more content on

It perfectly encapsulates the days of colonial Vietnam this restaurant evokes the tropical sophistication
of French Vietnam through not only its swirling ceiling fans, shuttered windows, rattan furniture set,
and potted fronds, but also its imaginative French presented, Vietnamese flavored cookery. Even so,
the restaurant s effort of recreating French colonial Indochina does not merely stop at its fine food and
elegant interior it nevertheless does not forget to replicate the French hostility to the Vietnamese
during their reign of Saigon through its service. Most of the associations with French colonization are
cynical and condemning; however, if Le Colonial is one of the rare exceptional fruits of colonization,

HPV: A Cause for Concern
1. Introduction
Human papillomavirus or HPV is one of the most common viruses that are transmitted through sexual
activity. A virus is sometimes referred to an obligate intracellular parasite, which cannot multiply
outside of a living cell. Transmission can occur through hand to hand contact, exposure to
contaminated blood, and shared objects. Typical exposure is achieved through skin to skin contact
during intercourse. HPV can pass from person to person with no signs or symptoms. Development of
symptoms can occur years after initial infection. Many cases of HPV can clear up on their own. If a
reoccurring case of HPV is left untreated, then a papilloma ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Detections methods have improved over the years for identification with the use of swabs from
cutaneous epithelium or plucked hairs. These methods primarily identify beta and gamma types of
viruses. Most infected individuals eliminate the virus without developing clinical manifestations.
Closely related types of virus can show distinct pathologies in HPV. While their genetic sequences can
be similar, their pathologies and virulence can be different. HPV six and eleven share 85% sequence
identity. HPV six is found in anogenital warts while HPV eleven is primarily responsible for laryngeal
papillomas. HPV thirteen shares a 78% likeness with both HPV six and eleven but doesn t cause the
same pathologies. HPV seven and forty have an 87% resemblance in sequence and both cause
butchers warts.
3. Structure and Function
HPV is a non enveloped virus with double stranded DNA that is protected by an icosahedral capsid.
An icosahedral is a polyhedral with twenty faces. The genome consists of double stranded circles with
approximately eight thousand base pairs containing eight or nine open reading frames. Gene
expression involves multiple promoters and complex patterns of splicing. The HPV genome separates
into three regions; the long control region, early region, and a late region. The early region contains no
coding for structural proteins in

Australian Fiscal Policy Analysis

tool of the government for the exercise of fiscal policy, it shows the government s planned revenue for
the next financial year. By varying the amount of government spending and revenue, the government
can alter the level of aggregate demand, which in turn will influence economic growth, environmental

It can increase funding to support or subsidise the development of certain resources encouraging the
market to use that particular resource. In the 2015 16 budget the government will be implementing
structural reforms to help encourage small business growth and more generous child care payments,
making it easier for parents to participate in the workforce and promote stronger business confidence.
The budget can also be used to redistribute the incomes to increase equality. This means redirecting
incomes from top income earners to the lowest earners. It is achieved primarily through progressive
taxes. However in the 2015 16 budget inequality is unlucky to be changed much on a national level.
Investment in child care to help parents get back to work could address the unemployment however

Black Tailed Prairie Dogs Summary
This article describes the black tailed prairie dogs (Cynomys Ludovocianus) and their coteries.
Coteries are polygynous social groups that black tailed prairie dogs live in (Hoogland 1983). In these
groups, the one adult male reproduces with genetically similar females. The main purpose of this
article is for the author (John L. Hoogland) to communicate and defend his earlier work on prairie
dogs. These prairie dogs exist where some females and pups, within the coteries, do not breed
(Hoogland 1983). Moreover, black tailed prairie dogs behave parentally towards non offspring
(Hoogland 1983). In addition, Hoogland classifies black tailed prairie dogs as cooperative breeders;
however, they do not help breeders to the same degree as cooperative breeding birds (Hoogland 1983).

Thus, there is no evidence shown that support Hoogland original prediction (stated in the former
paragraph). Michener and Murie (1983) also argue that Hoogland s grounded assumption is on
outdated information. Hoogland refutes Michener and Murie (1983) argument by stating that the
direct relationship between helper size and long term reproductive success of females is an
assumption; thus, it should not solely decide if black tailed prairie dogs are cooperative breeders
(Hoogland 1983). I find Hoogland s last argument inadequate because he creates a prediction based
off statistics that do not support black tailed prairie dogs having an increased success from having
more helpers. Although it is acceptable, it does not support his argument; and, consequently, taken
advantage of by fellow researchers. The determination if black tailed prairie dogs are cooperative
breeders needs further research on the females long term reproductive success. These are only a few of
the examples that occur in this

Oxygen is produced when manganese dioxide and hydrogen peroxide are mixed together. When
manganese oxide is added to hydrogen peroxide bubbles of oxygen are given off. I know this because
flames need oxygen to burn and when the flame was introduced to the gas it got brighter and larger.
D. Carbon dioxide gas is produced when hydrochloric acid and baking soda are mixed together. I
know this because carbon dioxide will extinguish the flame and in both my burning and glowing splint
tests the flame was extinguished.
E. Hydrogen gas is produced when Hydrochloric acid and Mossy zinc are mixed together. I know this
because when Hydrogen gas is combined with Oxygen and a flame it creates a high pitched *pop*.
F. The changes I came across in my experiments were just chemical changes, I know this because
every reaction we had let off a gas, bubbled, fizzed or let off heat, which are some of the ways you
know a chemical change has happened.
G. Some problems we encountered was the test tubes got too hot to handle and sometimes the gas
wouldn t build up enough for us to see the reaction, and when we tried to mix hydrochloric acid with
magnesium ribbon the reaction we got wasn t what we were supposed to get and that was because the
magnesium ribbon had oxidised.

Persuasive Essay On Eugenics
A lot of people have not heard of Eugenics because of the dark past in the history of not only the
United States but also across Europe. What does it mean to have a perfect world? Back in the 1920s
they had an idea to create a world that only included a certain idea of whom the best type of people
were. This may sound like an interesting idea but the price of our own human decency was taken in
which human life did not mean the same for everyone. Most people are unaware of what Eugenics is
because it is not a proud point in the United States, so it does not get taught or talked about very often.
Eugenics started in the late 1800 s. A man named, Sir Francis Galton was the first person to use the
word eugenics. The word eugenics means, the science of improving a human population by controlled
breeding to increase the occurrence of desirable heritable characteristics. (Eugenics) For a while
Eugenics was just an idea of how to perfect the human population. The ideas were put into books and
then analyzed scientifically, but in a way that was biased and unreliable. The Supreme Court put a law
in place called, Buck V. Bell, which supported the obligatory sterilization of people that would be seen
as unfit in our society. This law was put in place in the year of 1927 and was reprimanded in 1942.
Although in some places it still goes on today illegally. The science of Eugenics was not based on
personality but rather on physical and mental traits.
They made assumptions rather

Essay on Culinarian Cookware Marketing Hbr Case
To: Donald Janus From: XXX Date: XXX Subject: Advising a price promotion plan for Culinarian
cookware [pic] Culinarian is a strong brand that is ready for a successful 2007. We have reviewed the
marketing mix of push vs. pull tactics, compared them to the industry, and examined past performance
in this area. Most importantly, we have examined 2004 s price promotion and drawn conclusions that
have allowed us to make recommendations for this coming year. Outlined below are our findings, with
accompanying appendixes. Culinarian uses an acceptable blend of push and pull tactics; they
primarily utilize push for their premium cookware products. This is advantageous for Culinarian
because the majority (55%) of consumers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Looking to 2007, a price promotion program would enable Culinarian cookware to: 1. contribute to
the minimum 15% revenue growth s objective set by the firm s CEO Audrey Roux 2. increase its
market share on the premium cookware segment and 3. build brand awareness among consumers. We
recommend Culinarian to run a 15% price promotion on the CX1 and DX1 categories of products
during the high peak seasons (June July and November December), and to advertise nationally on this
promotion. We feel that a 15% discount rate is more adapted to the brand s premium identity than the
30% discount rate suggested by Brown. Indeed, it shows more consistency with the high end pricing
strategy of the group ($200 rather $199.99) and seems fairly adapted to consumers expectations since
even at a rate of 10% that half of the retailers ran in 2004 the promotion remained successful. A 15%
discount rate should encourage retailers to maintain the suggested discount rate rather than lowering it
because Culinarian would request a lower contribution from retailers: from a 4% to a 3% loss in their
margin. We believe that the best way to enhance sales and to maintain the premium identity of the
brand is to run that price promotion on the two lower priced products: CX1 and DX1. This would
avoid cannibalization between these two products that target high

Kate Chopin And Mary E. Wilkins Freeman
Over the years American Literature has become an important part of the American history. In the other
hand, it is really important for people to study the significant of the American literature, because in
particular is associated with influence of the American culture. People should know more about their
culture, because it is the place where they are living in. Literature was brought to the United States
from the European culture. The American literature started to develop during the antebellum era in the
late 19th century and the 20th century. At this period of time many writers started to get well known in
the American society. Good examples of two good antebellum era writers are Kate Chopin, and Mary
Eleanor Wilkins Freeman. These two women made a big impact in the American history. Both of these
women were very important writers, and well known for their American romance fiction short stories.
Chopin s and Freeman s short stories were very interesting because they talked about real day by day
events. People liked their short stories, because sometimes they identified their selves with the
characters of the stories. Freeman and Chopin wrote several short stories while they were alive. There
are several reasons why Kate Chopin and Mary E. Wilkins Freeman affected the American literature
and culture. The Antebellum era in the American history was best known the period before the civil
war and after the War of 1812. During the first half of the 19th century, the

The length of five spaces in a scale is known as a perfect fifth (Shah 42). C major and A minor start at
the head of the circle (Shah 42). At the head of the circle going clockwise, notes rise at a rate of fifths
and do not stop until a limit of seven sharps is made (Shah 42). Going counter clockwise, the notes go
down at a rate for fourths until a limit of seven flats is met (Shah 42). When the very end of the circle
is reached, six flats and sharps will have overrun each other (Shah 42). Also on the circle, one will
begin at a certain pitch, skip twelve tones, and make it back to the pitch they started with (Shah 43).
Pitch is in relation to the wave s frequency (Petersen 1). The pressure vibrates rapidly wit high notes
because of their high frequency (Petersen 1). Volume and pitch are the two attributes that make up
sound (Petersen 1). Noise level and volume are in relation to the pressure s amplitude (Petersen 2).
The force per unit area, Pascals, is usually used to calculate pressure (Petersen 3). Frequency is equal
to string length (Petersen 3). The rate of a frequency of noise of at least two tones is known as musical
interval (Shah 20). A geometric sequence is fashioned from the frequencies of an octave (Petersen 4).

We knew, as a revolutionary vanguard, repression would be the reaction of our oppressors, but we
recognized that the task of the revolutionist is difficult and his life is short. We were prepared then, as
we are now, to give our all in the interest of oppressed people (Baggins). Radical and provocative, the
60 s was an era of complete political and social upheaval. Although the Civil Rights Act of 1964 had
banned the discrimination of people based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin, the

On April 25th, 1967, the first issue of The Black Panther, the group s official newsletter, was
circulated. Shortly after, in May 1967, in response to the state of California s attempt to ban carrying
loaded weapons in public, Bobby Seale led a group of thirty Panthers to the California Legislature
completely armed. Although police respond by instantly arresting all armed Panthers, Newton
surfaced as a leading figure in the black militant movement. This act of political oppression sparked
the fire that soon spreads to minorities all across the United States, beginning the formation of new
Panther chapters outside California. Soon after, this movement spreads to 25 cities across the country.
In October 1967, Huey Newton was shot, arrested, and wrongfully charged with murder after a messy
gun battle broke out in West Oakland, resulting in the death of young police officer John Frey. In
response, Panther Eldridge Cleaver began the movement to Free Huey , and former chairman of the

  • 2. Cabaret Movie Comparison After watching both of the films for this week I definitely noticed a difference in the film narratives due to musical numbers and how they were integrated. While watching 42nd Street, the musical numbers were quite confusing to me. I struggled to understand how they provided context to the film. As I did not see how they fit within the storyline of the films. I also believe the disconnection between the numbers and the film made me question, the films event s and I thought I misunderstood certain moments in the film because the musical numbers did not make sense. I also did not enjoy the fact that during the numbers themselves there was dialogue going on and the focus shifted during the number. I think this lessened the impact of the number ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was as if the focus was the music numbers opposed to the films, which in my opinion is the best part of a musical. I enjoyed watching the numbers and seeing the elaborate costumes and details that were put into them. Furthermore, in Cabaret, one could tell that the music numbers really fit in with the film and provided more insight into what was going on. A good example of this was the during the musical number Maybe This Time sung by Sally which demonstrated her relationship with Brian and how it has evolved. Their relationship turned into more than a friendship and as the number goes on Sally sings of the hope she has of this relationship being the real deal and withstanding the test of time.Through this musical number the audience is able to understood how Sally is feeling without the use of any actual dialogue. I do believe there is some relation between the context of integration/non integration and the contexts in which the films were made. 42nd Street was created during the Great Depression and it seems as if there was some caution in terms of the film was made. It seems as if the events of the film were more so on the safe side and no feathers were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Kathy Lambert, an administrative assistant at St. Peter Lutheran School states that art, music, physical education, sewing and knitting classes are free to the students that attend St. Peter Lutheran School. • 4. What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Gota... These theories have been used by Nissan to improve their productivity. However JIT and Lean Combined together makes Toyota Production System. For more clarity I am discussing each theory individually first is JIT is a continuous process and it forces problem by reduced inventory. With this theory only material are called when they are needed according to the demand. The JIT is also broken down in to five segments which are JIT Partnerships which exist when a supplier and a purchaser work together with open communication and a target of removing waste and lowering down the cost. The second is JIT layouts which is designed to reduce the movements. JIT materials layout place material directly where they are needed. The third is JIT inventory which works to overcome any hurdle if arises in the way. The fourth is JIT scheduling where effective schedules are communicated both within the organization and to outside suppliers. By being able to utilize these methods Nissan would able to overhaul their process and work to create a JIT environment to utilize all methods and start saving tremendous amount of overhead and expenditures. Like other theories there are some advantages and disadvantages of JIT. Advantages include efficient replenishment systems, more free space, less manpower required to maintain the inventory levels. • 5. The Hubble Telescope and Its Discoveries Essay Hubble Space Telescope and Significant Discoveries Funding was approved in 1977 for a Large Space Telescope in 1977 and in 1983 it was renamed Hubble Space Telescope in honor of astronomer Edwin P. Hubble who discovered evidence of an expanding universe and the existence of other galaxies. Work was completed in 1985 and it was launched and deployed from the Space Shuttle Discovery in April of 1990, 350 miles above earth. Since its deployment, there have been five services, each service to perform corrective and preventive maintenance, add upgrades to the equipment, or both. In 2011, the Hubble space Telescope celebrated its millionth observation, the spectroscopic analysis of HAT P 7b an exoplanet orbiting around the star HAT P 7 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Based on observations of galaxies, galaxy clusters and cosmic microwave background, scientists determined that most of the universe s mass is composed of dark matter. Dark matter does not emit light but can be detected by the way its gravity distorts the images of the background galaxies. Using large 3 D models of the distribution, scientists have determined dark matter clumping increases over time (Livio, 2010). The Hubble Space Telescope has been key in not only confirming the universe s expansion but also the further defining the rate of the expansion. Edwin Hubble in 1929 provided the first evidence of the expansion of the universe and its finite age with his Hubble constant. The constant says that the farther a galaxy is the faster the acceleration, therefore the universe is expanding. The ability of the Hubble Telescope to resolve Cepheid variable stars farther out than could previously be done by ground based telescope allowed scientists to see further out and therefore longer periods of time than they ever could before. This ability to look further back in the past has allowed scientists to better define the expansion rate of the universe. When Hubble was first launched, the expansion rate was estimated between 50 100 km/sec/Mpc. In 1994 it was determined to be 80 km/sec/Mpc with a 10 percent rate of error. In 2009, scientists, using observations of Cepheids in faraway galaxies, were able to narrow ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Corruption as a Consequence of Colonialism Corruption as a Consequence of Colonialism as portrayed in Achebe s The African Trilogy All quotations are taken from the 1988 Picador edition of Chinua Achebe s The African Trilogy He has put a knife on all the things that held us together and we have fallen apart (Things Fall Apart, 145) The things that held the Igbo tribe together were their close bonds of clan kinship, unified allegiance to their gods, and their democratic society. These were the very things that the English set out to attack, to put a knife on . Once they began this process, Igbo society was never to be the same again. This confusion at the refusal of the Igbos to accept positions such as this is well illustrated in Arrow of God: Well, are you accepting the offer or not? Clarke glowed with the I know this will knock you over feeling of a benefactor. Tell the white man that Ezeulu will not be anybody s chief, except Ulu What! shouted Clarke. Is the fellow mad? I tink so sah, said the interpreter. In that case he goes back to prison. Clarke was now really angry. What cheek! A witch doctor making a fool of the British Administration in public! (498) The selection of Ezeulu as a potential Warrant Chief is typical of the kind of selection regularly made by the British a man who was already in the possession of real authority and wealth in his community. However, the responses of those chosen were not always as idealistic as Ezeulu s. Many Igbos jumped at the chance of some real power, safe in the knowledge that they were backed by British officials, and Warrant chiefs became notorious for their corruption and exploitation. • 7. Essay on Why the American Civil War Lasted for Longer Than... Why the American Civil War lasted for longer than 90 days The North had expected their war with the south to last for no more than 90 days. They not only had more men up in the north but they had more resources as well. Now why couldn t they defeat the south? I have to say it is due to the incompetence of the north s generals commanding the army, and the army itself. On April 15, 1861, President Lincoln called on the states to provide 75,000 militia men for 90 days to put down the rebellion of the south. On the other hand, the south had the state of Virginia on its side; this gave them a better chance of victory. It was the home of Robert E. Where as the confederate soldiers were country men who were used to the outdoors and were skilled in firing guns. The first major battle of the Civil War was fought in Virginia, near the Manassas; this battle later became known as The Battle of Bull Run. At the beginning of the five hour battle the Union soldiers had the Confederates on the retreat, except for one brigade commanded by General Jackson. Due to Jackson s ability to hold his ground and his stubbornness, the men saw him and his militia to resemble a stone wall; hence he earned the nickname Stonewall Jackson. Thanks to Jackson the Confederates were able to hold out until General Johnston showed up with 9000 reinforcements to help out General Beauregard. The arrival changed the course of the battle and soon the Union soldiers were fleeing back to Washington. However, because of the disorganization of Beauregard s army, they could not pursue McDowell any further. Rico 3 The battle proved that this was not going to be a one sided war for either side, as was predicted. The casualties soared to 2,900 killed, wounded, captured, or missing for McDowell s army and 2,000 for Beauregard s. The battle spurred a sense of victory in the South, pushing them on, and in the North a feeling for revenge. • 8. Final Reflection Paper 1. Choosing a career is one of the most important decisions a person has to make in their life. It is so important because that is what we will have to do to support ourselves throughout life. My whole life I have always wanted to do something where people will remember me. Throughout this course, I have learned that I do not know what I want to do with my chosen major. I do not regret majoring in Criminal Justice because I m positive I want to do something within the criminal justice system. I have learned that I m open to different ideas and career paths. Through the course, I have learned that I m a great multi tasker, I m always prepared ahead of time with my deadlines and I never had to give excuses as to why something is not done on time. a. I never expected to learn more than what this class had to offer. Even though the semester is over, I feel I ve learned a lot about myself, and life after college. I spent about half of the year wearing sweatpants, baggy, flashy clothing, and I was okay with that because it s important to feel comfortable. This semester, I have also learned that if you dress well you get the respectable attention and needed. When I had the interview and had to dress up, I noticed many people looking my way and praising me, I felt respected and felt good about myself as well. Stepping out of my comfort zone has never felt so good. I believe this would help me in my future career to try new things and take risks. All in all, I have learned that I ... • 10. Sandberg on the Difference between Men and Women in the... When you think of high power names in the workplace it s more often than not associated with men. In fact, statistics show that of the top corporate jobs in America only 15% are held by women. What s even more startling is that of all the fortune 500 CEOs only twenty one of them are women (Sandberg, 2013). These eye opening statistics show that although women have made great strides in the workplace throughout the years one question remains; Why are there not more women in leadership positions? Sheryl Sandberg, Facebook chief operating officer and author of Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead examined the causes of this halt in progress and the possible solutions. The first idea that Sandberg mentions in her book revolves around women underestimating their own abilities. She states, If you ask men and women questions about completely objective criteria such as GPAs or sales goals, men get it wrong slightly high; women get it wrong slightly low. More importantly, if you ask men why they succeeded, men attribute that success to themselves; and women, they attribute it to other factors like working harder, help from others, being lucky, etc (Sandberg). After reading this puzzling fact, I started to wonder what factors played into these differences in the ways of thinking between men and women. An underlying message: If you think about your childhood you were probably immersed with toys suiting your gender. If you re a girl, you were probably given dolls of some ... • 11. Jackie Robinson Impact On Society A life is not important except in the impact it has on other lives Jackie Robinson (Baseball Almanac). Jackie Robinson s life accomplished more than impacting others, he impacted a nation. His humble upbringing, strong will, and fight for equality is unmatched by any other. He was one of the first African Americans to stand up for equal rights and broke through many barriers to allow others to fight with him. His Hall of Fame career on the baseball diamond is only a small piece to Jackie s story of struggle and hardship to reach equality. Born on January 31, 1919 Jack Roosevelt Robinson was the youngest of five children. His father left the family before Jackie turned one and shortly after his mom moved the family from Georgia to California in search of work (Contemporary Black Biography). Segregation was still present in California, but was less harsh than in the south. To get away from the problems and racial prejudice, Jackie turned to sports. He was an exceptional athlete excelling in football, baseball, basketball, and track in both high school and college. He played four sports for the University of California Los Angeles (commonly known as UCLA). Border corridos and Badman Ballads each emerged from the oppression of a certain ethnic group, however each has its own history. Border corridos revolve around the Texas Mexico border and illustrate the effects of the The Mexican American War. During the Mexican American War, Mexico lost the battle and the state of Texas, which made the Rio Grande the national border. As a result, Mexicans who lived on the other side of the river had to decide between America and Mexico. The people who chose to stay in America became Tejanos (Texan American) (Davis, Lecture) and their culture, language, and property were respected due to the signing of the Treaty of Guadalupe (Flores, 167). However as Anglo American settlers moved into Mexican territory, a land grab was institutionalized, which sold most of Mexicans lands for cheap prices, due to the Mexican population s unawareness. Not only that, but Texas officers known as Texas Rangers discriminated and violently treated ethnic Mexicans (Davis, Lecture). The border corridors reflect the interethnic conflict between whites and Tejanos and portray the injustice during those times. Similarly, Badman Ballads portrays the oppression of one ethnic groups towards another. This ballad illustrates blacks discriminated by whites during the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is hard to ignore the fact that Romeo and Juliet takes place over the span of three days and the couple claims they re in love. The majority of people believe that it s impossible to experience love at first sight, so Romeo and Juliet must be feeling lust. I believe the couple was genuinely in love because they continued to love each other even throughout their tough relationship, they both defied their parent s wishes, and they both took their own lives when they heard their spouse was dead. The first reason I believe Romeo and Juliet genuinely loved each other is they continued to love each other throughout their tough relationship. The two lovers came from families who despise each other. It was nearly inconceivable for the families to get along. In the process of pursuing their love Romeo s best friend Mercutio and Juliet s cousin Tybalt died. After the night they met at the masquerade, Romeo risked his life to see Juliet in her chamber. Juliet told Romeo If they do see thee they will murder thee. (II, ii, ll.70.), but until the brightness of the day filled Verona, Romeo stayed risking his life. Decision trees could be used in classification applications that target discrete value outcomes by classifying unclassified data based on a pre classified dataset, for example, classifying credit card applicants into three classes of risk, which are low, medium or high. Also, decision trees could be used in estimation applications that have continuous outcomes by estimating value based on pre classified datasets, and in this case the tree is called a regression tree, for example, estimating household income. The decision tree model is considered as a chain of rules that classify records in different bins or classes called nodes [1]. These prairie dogs exist where some females and pups, within the coteries, do not breed (Hoogland 1983). Moreover, black tailed prairie dogs behave parentally towards non offspring (Hoogland 1983). What does it mean to have a perfect world? Back in the 1920s they had an idea to create a world that only included a certain idea of whom the best type of people were. This may sound like an interesting idea but the price of our own human decency was taken in which human life did not mean the same for everyone. Most people are unaware of what Eugenics is because it is not a proud point in the United States, so it does not get taught or talked about very often. Eugenics started in the late 1800 s. A man named, Sir Francis Galton was the first person to use the word eugenics. The word eugenics means, the science of improving a human population by controlled breeding to increase the occurrence of desirable heritable characteristics. (Eugenics) For a while Eugenics was just an idea of how to perfect the human population. The ideas were put into books and then analyzed scientifically, but in a way that was biased and unreliable. We recommend Culinarian to run a 15% price promotion on the CX1 and DX1 categories of products during the high peak seasons (June July and November December), and to advertise nationally on this promotion. We feel that a 15% discount rate is more adapted to the brand s premium identity than the 30% discount rate suggested by Brown. Indeed, it shows more consistency with the high end pricing strategy of the group ($200 rather $199.99) and seems fairly adapted to consumers expectations since even at a rate of 10% that half of the retailers ran in 2004 the promotion remained successful. A 15% discount rate should encourage retailers to maintain the suggested discount rate rather than lowering it because Culinarian would request a lower contribution from retailers: from a 4% to a 3% loss in their margin. We believe that the best way to enhance sales and to maintain the premium identity of the brand is to run that price promotion on the two lower priced products: CX1 and DX1. The length of five spaces in a scale is known as a perfect fifth (Shah 42). C major and A minor start at the head of the circle (Shah 42). At the head of the circle going clockwise, notes rise at a rate of fifths and do not stop until a limit of seven sharps is made (Shah 42). Going counter clockwise, the notes go down at a rate for fourths until a limit of seven flats is met (Shah 42). When the very end of the circle is reached, six flats and sharps will have overrun each other (Shah 42). Also on the circle, one will begin at a certain pitch, skip twelve tones, and make it back to the pitch they started with (Shah 43). Pitch is in relation to the wave s frequency (Petersen 1). The pressure vibrates rapidly wit high notes because of their high frequency (Petersen 1). Volume and pitch are the two attributes that make up sound (Petersen 1). Noise level and volume are in relation to the pressure s amplitude (Petersen 2). The force per unit area, Pascals, is usually used to calculate pressure (Petersen 3). Frequency is equal to string length (Petersen 3). The rate of a frequency of noise of at least two tones is known as musical interval (Shah 20). A geometric sequence is fashioned from the frequencies of an octave (Petersen 4). An exponential function would be seen if such a sequence was graphed (Petersen 4). An ... • 34. The Black Panther Party Essay Black Panther Party We knew, as a revolutionary vanguard, repression would be the reaction of our oppressors, but we recognized that the task of the revolutionist is difficult and his life is short. Shortly after, in May 1967, in response to the state of California s attempt to ban carrying loaded weapons in public, Bobby Seale led a group of thirty Panthers to the California Legislature completely armed. Although police respond by instantly arresting all armed Panthers, Newton surfaced as a leading figure in the black militant movement. This act of political oppression sparked the fire that soon spreads to minorities all across the United States, beginning the formation of new Panther chapters outside California. Soon after, this movement spreads to 25 cities across the country. In October 1967, Huey Newton was shot, arrested, and wrongfully charged with murder after a messy gun battle broke out in West Oakland, resulting in the death of young police officer John Frey. In response, Panther Eldridge Cleaver began the movement to Free Huey , and former chairman of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee, Stokely Carmichael, becomes the party s Prime Minister. Straightaway, Carmichael is inflexible against allowing whites to fight the Panther cause, explaining whites are unable to truly understand the black experience, explaining, If we are to proceed toward true liberation, we must cut ourselves off from white people...
