Engaging Staff & Promoting Interactive Usage in FE - Presented at the 2015 Moodle Moot UK held at the Dublin City University.
In July 2012 Exeter College made the strategic decision to move from a Microsoft SharePoint based VLE to Moodle. Offering our staff more tools for blended delivery, assessment and explore other active learning approaches, in turn enhancing our students’ learning experience. This presentation summarises the journey and the challenges faced by the college in making this transition.
The College employs over 600 teaching staff. It was identified early on that giving staff and learners the opportunity to play an active role in the planning, development and promotional stages was critical to the project’s success.
We will explore the strategies, technical issues encountered and approach towards training and supporting staff resulting in how we went from no moodle in 2012 to achieving 80% faculty uptake in the academic year of 2013-14.
In 2014 Exeter College was the first college in Devon and Cornwall to be rated as Outstanding by Ofsted using its new enhanced framework, this followed the previous rating of Outstanding in a no-notice pilot less than two years prior.”

How Blended Learning with Moodle Can Help Your E-Learning BusinessIDS Logic Pvt. Ltd.
Are you planning to use Moodle LMS development for your e-learning course? For designers and instructors, it is always easy to stick to a pattern of using the same program over and over again. Any activity that we are not much familiar with can be intimidating and time involving to increase the collaboration.
How Moodle LMS Provides Quality E-Learning Opportunities During the Covid-19 ...IDS Logic Pvt. Ltd.
E-learning is an emerging field and as a promising instructional medium, it has a great impact on teaching and learning activities. The fundamental nature of e-learning is that it differs from face to face delivery, thereby requiring some more features for course development, interaction and online assessment.
2. Moodle is already used by 1.3 million teachers across the globe. it is a specifically
designed technology aimed at teaching staff to enhance teaching and learning.
Today’s students feel at home within the digital world, being able to randomly
access information and partake in engaging interactive activities. Moodle offers all
this and more, targeting students in a teacher controlled atmosphere.
Not only is it controlled by teachers, but it makes teaching staff lives’ easier,
having one central location accessible anywhere; with a massive array of tools for
aiding the delivery, marking and providing feedback for all courses.
3. Here is a brief video depicting some of the benefits of using Moodle for teaching.

4. Now you may ask what is the difference between Moodle and other
technologies that can be used, such as Microsoft SharePoint.
Moodle is:
Highly interactive
Easily accessible across all major devices
Easy to integrate with other systems
Allows teachers the freedom to develop engaging courses how they want.
Makes marking more manageable and provides students with a visual incentive.
Can remind students of deadlines, where they are most active (mobile devices/social networks)
Students love it.
Easy to use.
5. It is imperative that Moodle is well publicised within the college, clearly outlaying the
benefits, and urging staff to try it out.
This means
Presenting and communicating to a large audience and also to individual departments.
Providing first rate support, and easy to follow resources.
Demonstrate its use, and how other (less IT literate) teachers are using it and, how
engaging it can be for students.
6. Displaying the success of Moodle
An incentive to use Moodle, everybody loves a bit of friendly competition!
Constant development & Support- moving with the times, offering new
features.
