This document discusses the diffusion of the Moodle learning management system (LMS). It began in 1999 when Martin Dougiamas invented Moodle based on social constructionist principles. Since then, Moodle has spread to over 37,000 organizations in 204 countries. The document analyzes Moodle's diffusion through Rogers' five stages: knowledge, persuasion, decision, implementation, and confirmation. It also examines who has adopted Moodle early on and who is lagging, as well as how Moodle can meet the needs of the K-12 education industry through its advantages of being free, customizable by users, and able to be experimented with through courses.
