Business Value and Business Model Innovation in Decentralized Interoperabilit...Boris Otto
NisB—short for “The Network is the Business”—facilitates a network of heterogeneous information producers and consumers that share a common interest in harmonizing their knowledge assets. By trading knowledge assets, the network establishes and refines interoperability between its parties. The value of the accumulated interoperability knowledge in the network improves as more the network grows in parties and assets and that interoperability knowledge constitutes economic value in its own right.
The innovative idea is to maintain and refine knowledge, striving for overall consistency. Knowledge creation leverages crowd concepts and the multitude of relationships among individual information items in the same domain.
NisB introduces business model archetypes that base the sharing of interoperability assets on a sound economic model balancing investment with gain while stimulating usage. Based on the understanding that many small contributions generate a great value, incentive models and mechanisms will be developed by which realized value consumed by one will compensate the other underlying contributors

Digital is the new market force that is driving a massive disruption in consumer expectations. It is requiring a different set of skills, processes, culture and metrics. Several industries have already started their digital path; it's time for insurers to respond to this transformation.
This document discusses the disruption of traditional technology silos through continuous and progressive information sharing across the life cycle using open standards. It argues that digital transformation is not about individual point solutions but continuous data availability and linking across domains like geospatial, engineering, asset management and more. True disruption comes from liberated data through life cycle information management rather than isolated systems or proprietary formats that don't interconnect. Organizations must manage change carefully to adopt technologies contributing to information continuity rather than disruptive solutions that work only in isolation.
Horizon 2020 SME Instrument and Eurostars Proposal DevelopmentBusiness West
The document summarizes a presentation given on July 20th in Bristol on writing successful proposals for the Horizon 2020 SME Instrument and Eurostars funding programs. The agenda included an introduction to the Enterprise Europe Network, a discussion of how to write proposals to convince evaluators to invest in a business, and one-on-one meetings between attendees and evaluators/advisers. The presentation then focused on how to describe a business idea in the proposal, emphasizing clear communication of what is offered, market opportunities, value chain, and delivery approach. It stressed the need to tell a coherent story through a proposal and ensure consistency across technology description, objectives, work plan, and other elements.

UK digital market is valued at more than £100bn
Growth on the Internet represents 23% total UK GDP 2004-2009
By 2018 we aim to:
£365m of additional economic revenue
Make a difference to 10,000 organisations

The document discusses how advanced data analytics will transform project controls. It hypothesizes that there are patterns in projects that could make some more prone to variance. With bias-free data pooling and analytics, projects could be delivered with more confidence, quicker and cheaper. An example is given of how analytics could have helped predict issues on the Crossrail project. The challenges of implementing advanced analytics are also discussed, such as how to manage bias in AI and whether project controllers should become data scientists. The document concludes that project controls is on the verge of significant disruption from emerging predictive and forensic analytics capabilities.

A bit of a technical look at how to design process-based applications (a.k.a. Smart Process Applications): why they are different from traditional structured BPM, and all of the components that you need to consider. Delivered at DST's ADVANCE Forum in London, June 2014.
Take a look at your desk. Now take a look at the wall. Now take a look at your hallway. If you're working in IT delivery or infrastructure chances are your eyes have at least met one dashboard, if not more, while your gaze was wondering.
How often do you actually look at said dashboard(s)? How much of the information it presents is tailored towards you? Is the dashboard actually helpful .. is it .. valuable .. to you?
The way the human mind captures, processes and interprets information is different for everyone, however, the results for our dashboards are supposed to be the same: an informed human at the helm of their digital garden of products. The way we design dashboards though is largely different, an information overload, cramming as much information into them "because we might need them some day" and not because we actually need them. Therefore, we forego the one advantage dashboards have over other traditional methods of information capture: Immediacy and relevancy. And that sucks. Let me introduce you to a couple of examples and a few ways out of the information jungle. For better, well-informed decision making at a moment's notice!
The document discusses how businesses can create their own process revolution by adopting new business metrics enabled by mobile, social, and cloud technologies. It recommends providing teams with intelligent, adaptive processes and tools to manage events in real-time. It also suggests linking social presence and external information to core processes and supporting customer devices to transform experiences and boost revenue through reduced friction and gamification.
InnoCentive is an international crowdsourcing platform that connects companies with problems to solvers around the world at low cost. While it provides a global network and works with governments, it may have legal issues due to a lack of guaranteed confidentiality. InnoCentive opportunities include linking problem solvers faster and at lower cost, while threats include new entrants and a crowded market.

The document provides an overview of photogrammetry, which is the science and technology of obtaining reliable spatial information about physical objects and the environment through analyzing photographs. It discusses the different types of photogrammetry including aerial/spaceborne photogrammetry and close-range photogrammetry. It also summarizes the key techniques, applications, and products of photogrammetry such as digital terrain models, orthophotos, and 3D models.
Photogrammetry is the science of making measurements from photographs, especially to determine the exact positions of surface points. It involves planning and taking photographs, processing the photographs, and measuring the photographs to produce results like maps. Photogrammetry can be used for topographic surveys, engineering surveys, geological mapping, and urban and regional planning applications. There are two main types of photographs used in photogrammetry: terrestrial photographs taken from fixed positions on the ground using a phototheodolite, and aerial photographs taken from an aerial camera mounted on an aircraft.
Photogrammetry is the science of obtaining reliable measurements from photographs. There are three main techniques: aerial, using vertically downward photos from planes or satellites; terrestrial, using horizontal photos on the ground; and industrial, adapting terrestrial techniques to small areas. Aerial photos are used for topographic mapping, cadastral plans, land use maps, and hydrographic charts. Stereo plotters allow precise 3D measurement and analysis from stereo photo pairs. Photogrammetry has many applications beyond traditional surveying, including traffic accident reconstruction, medical imaging, and analysis of surface movement.
