2. • My name is Daniela Rodriguez. I am currently an RN on a
cardiac/stroke/neuro floor and plan on starting my BSN at UT Tyler in
the Fall.
3. List what things motivate you the most to become
an active participant in our political system
Learning how our system as a whole works, not just from this
government class but my previous Texas government class that I took, I
learned not just that we have to vote on the national level but also
here locally.
We all want a good safe home and it all starts in the root of where we
live. If we want to see change we need to be do something about it and
not just talk and do nothing.
4. List things you have learned this semester that
surprised you about the Federal government
processes.
• Every week, I feel like I learned something especially through our
discussions boards and papers. Having to research specific topics
helps me retain better the information that I am having to turn in. I
learned a lot mostly though, on our paper of the Iraq war. That
situation started going on when I was in 2nd and 3rd grade, so I didn’t
know to much at that age, and as you get older tend to understand
the situation like what happened on 9/11 ect, but researching articles
for our paper helped me have open up my knowledge in regards to
that topic.
5. Choose one single political issue you believe
is the most important to consider for future
generations. (Explain the issue and why you
think it will be significant for the future.
• I think an important topic for all of us is health coverage. Having
affordable health care for everyone is something that is vital and a
necessity. I’m fortunate that have health coverage through my job,
but I know others are not and I think no matter how young you are,
we have to think ahead because we never know what can happen to
us, and good health insurance may be our number one priority one
day. I’m hoping we see a change soon in our system to where
everyone can have the chance to obtain it and afford it.
6. which do you believe is the most important of the
27 Amendments to our Constitution and why.
• I think the first amendment is a very important part of us and in our
daily lives. Freed of religion, speech, press, petition and assembly. It
shapes each of us into our own unique self and makes us who we are.
7. Write about a few lessons you have
learned about our government processes
this semester that you will carry with you
beyond this course
• I think being vocal and going out to vote is something I
learned that needs to be done if we want to see change. I
voted on this last election, but I didn’t on the one before
and I deeply regret that.
