1. My name is Tana Davis. I am a freshman
here at Grayson and I play on the Softball
team. I am majoring in Kinesiology and I will
then transfer to a 4 year to go to Physical
Therapy school.
2. Some things that motivate me to become
and active participant in our political system
are:
1.) I want to have a voice on presidency. Every vote counts.
2.) My family is really big on politics, so its only fitting that I am as well.
3.) I love election time. I love hearing what people have to say and have
to offer.
3. Things I have learned this
semester that have took me by
surprise:
1.) Freedom of speech has limitations.
2.) The government could not enforce any laws through the Articles of
Confederation.
3.) Most countries don’t have as many freedoms as we do.
4. One Political issue that could
alter future generations:
Minimum voting age is a huge deal right now. Should they lower the voting age or
keep it the same?
81% of people say no and 11% say yes.
This is significant for the future because if people do not know anything about
politics and just vote because they are of age, it could really alter the outcome of the
election. You need to be mature enough to vote.
5. Which do you believe is the most important of the
27 Amendments to our Constitution and why?
THE FIRST AMENDMENT
WHY?
The First Amendment protects freedom of religion, speech and the press, as
well as the right to assemble and petition the government.
This is the most important because it supports the
right of a person.
6. A few lessons I have learned:
One lesson I have learned this semester that I will carry with me
is not to take for granted the rights we have as American citizens
because other countries don’t have the same freedoms as we do. I
have also learned that even though we do have certain rights, there are
limitations to them.
