This document is a term paper on liver transplantation submitted by Aswathi P. to her lecturer Mrs. Resmi G. at Al-Shifa College of Nursing. It begins with an introduction that describes liver transplantation as replacing a diseased liver with a healthy liver from a donor. It then discusses the anatomy and physiology of the liver, including its structure, lobes, blood supply from the hepatic artery and portal vein, and internal lobule structure composed of hepatocytes and sinusoids. The functions of the liver are also summarized, such as protein synthesis, carbohydrate and lipid metabolism, and detoxification.
