This document discusses best practices for using agile product development for hardware projects. It provides differences between hardware and software development such as hardware being more difficult to change after manufacturing. It recommends using scrum with a focus on technical stories for hardware. An example project at Thermo Fisher Scientific developing analytical chemistry equipment is described that successfully used scrum. Key lessons learned include the product owner also being a team member, most deliverables being behind the scenes technical work rather than user-facing, and estimation and velocity being more challenging for hardware projects.
For numerous large enterprises, the alignment of hardware and software processes is critical to managing an Agile environment. Agile Hardware implementations can be put in place by using the same framework as our typical Agile Software Development transformations. Start off with assessing the organization’s current state, then move to planning and preparing by and putting together a transition backlog, start execution with training and coaching, spread the cultural shift with change management and maintain and scale the transformation.

The Art of the Retrospective: How to run an awesome retrospective meetingChris Smith
The drive to inspect and adapt is one of the most important aspects of agile software development. A great way to bake this approach into your process is by having regular retrospective meetings that engage and challenge the team to solve their own problems and make things better. However, these meetings can be difficult to run well and drive improvement. In fact, many teams sleepwalk through sessions, treating them as a box-ticking exercise that signals the end of the iteration.
Maybe its time we tried a bit harder to make retrospective meetings work?
In this talk, Chris explains how to put together an awesome sprint retrospective. He discusses the following:
* Why retrospectives can be unpopular
* Structuring the meeting to succeed
* Setting the right tone
* Activities to gather data
* Activities to generate insights
* How to decide what to do
* How to manage retrospective actions

The financial services company asked for their meeting room space to be made more flexible by incorporating a hallway. This required an audio visual solution that could accommodate nine different room configurations. Challenges included designing a system for partition walls instead of fixed walls, a tight four week timeline that included construction work, and installing equipment without ceiling or power access until late in the project. The solution included LED screens in each room, a video matrix switcher, and iPad control software to easily select room layouts and inputs. The outcome was a successful project delivered on schedule and within budget.

Suzanne Lagerweij - Influence Without Power - Why Empathy is Your Best Friend...Suzanne Lagerweij
This is a workshop about communication and collaboration. We will experience how we can analyze the reasons for resistance to change (exercise 1) and practice how to improve our conversation style and be more in control and effective in the way we communicate (exercise 2).
This session will use Dave Gray’s Empathy Mapping, Argyris’ Ladder of Inference and The Four Rs from Agile Conversations (Squirrel and Fredrick).
Abstract:
Let’s talk about powerful conversations! We all know how to lead a constructive conversation, right? Then why is it so difficult to have those conversations with people at work, especially those in powerful positions that show resistance to change?
Learning to control and direct conversations takes understanding and practice.
We can combine our innate empathy with our analytical skills to gain a deeper understanding of complex situations at work. Join this session to learn how to prepare for difficult conversations and how to improve our agile conversations in order to be more influential without power. We will use Dave Gray’s Empathy Mapping, Argyris’ Ladder of Inference and The Four Rs from Agile Conversations (Squirrel and Fredrick).
In the session you will experience how preparing and reflecting on your conversation can help you be more influential at work. You will learn how to communicate more effectively with the people needed to achieve positive change. You will leave with a self-revised version of a difficult conversation and a practical model to use when you get back to work.
Come learn more on how to become a real influencer!

Carrer goals.pptx and their importance in real lifeartemacademy2
Career goals serve as a roadmap for individuals, guiding them toward achieving long-term professional aspirations and personal fulfillment. Establishing clear career goals enables professionals to focus their efforts on developing specific skills, gaining relevant experience, and making strategic decisions that align with their desired career trajectory. By setting both short-term and long-term objectives, individuals can systematically track their progress, make necessary adjustments, and stay motivated. Short-term goals often include acquiring new qualifications, mastering particular competencies, or securing a specific role, while long-term goals might encompass reaching executive positions, becoming industry experts, or launching entrepreneurial ventures.
Moreover, having well-defined career goals fosters a sense of purpose and direction, enhancing job satisfaction and overall productivity. It encourages continuous learning and adaptation, as professionals remain attuned to industry trends and evolving job market demands. Career goals also facilitate better time management and resource allocation, as individuals prioritize tasks and opportunities that advance their professional growth. In addition, articulating career goals can aid in networking and mentorship, as it allows individuals to communicate their aspirations clearly to potential mentors, colleagues, and employers, thereby opening doors to valuable guidance and support. Ultimately, career goals are integral to personal and professional development, driving individuals toward sustained success and fulfillment in their chosen fields.

2. Ten Top Presentation Tips
These are based on tips that I have picked up over the years and
tips picked up from Roy Sheppard the excellent conference
facilitator and speaker.
3. • Preparation, Preparation, Preparation
• What is the purpose of most presentations? To
share information (wrong!). The purpose is to
get the audience to want to know more!
• Grab the audience’s attention early on with an
insightful statement, get them interested at the
beginning – make it relevant
4. • Know your audience
• I think making it personal can help you engage
at an emotional level
• Know your key messages, what are the benefits
to the audience in listening to you?
• A brief summary at the end works well and a
‘call to action’. Know exactly what you are going
to say to leave a lasting impression
5. • Provide the audience with a link to where they
can find out more details or have some
information at the front of the room
• Have a look at some TED talks
• Number one tip is about your ENERGY levels
during your talk, you can channel your nervous
energy
