Join agile coaches Bob Galen from RGCG and Michael Cooper from the QASymphony Board of Advisors as they explore key aspects of the 3-Pillars of Agile Quality & Testing framework that Bob and Mary Thorn developed. In this dynamic panel discussion Bob and Michael will tackle what it takes to be a balanced and effective tester in today’s agile world. We’ll talk about tools, techniques, attitudes, and adjustments. There will be no “one size fits all” strategies here, just real-world experience sharing stories about what works and what doesn’t.
For numerous large enterprises, the alignment of hardware and software processes is critical to managing an Agile environment. Agile Hardware implementations can be put in place by using the same framework as our typical Agile Software Development transformations. Start off with assessing the organization’s current state, then move to planning and preparing by and putting together a transition backlog, start execution with training and coaching, spread the cultural shift with change management and maintain and scale the transformation.
In Agile Development, Testing is meant to be a part of the development process, right along with coding, but many “Agile Teams” are missing this vital component and experiencing degregated quality. In this presentation, we will discuss how to integrate Agile Testing in Kanban processes by discussing the following:
• Introduction to Agile and Lean
• How testers add value to cross-functional Agile Development Teams
• How testers participate in Agile ceremonies
• How to test in an Agile Environment
• The Four Environments (Dev, Test, Stage, Production)
• The types of testing that occurs in each environmen
Resource Planning is one of the biggest headaches for medium to large organizations. Creating a detailed resource plan that is meaningful is very difficult, and keeping it up to date is almost impossible. Plans that look good are often an attractive fiction, full of unrealistic assumptions, over-allocations, and the spreading of too-few people in too many ways.
Agile Resource Planning provides a very different approach to the classic model. It produces realistic plans that are simple to maintain, and effective for planning work over time. In this webinar, Dr. Kevin Thompson will present new concepts in Agile Resource Planning, which provide a practical and easy-to-use approach to Resource Planning that can be used for Agile and classic environments.
This webinar will provide guidance for proper planning and managing, in order to get your distributed teams working smoothly and effectively. Prerequisites: A working knowledge of Lean and Scrum NPD methods (stand-up meetings, user stories, backlog, sprints, burn-down charts, etc.)
We will cover the following topics in this webinar:
· Qualifying and monitoring distributed partners
· Planning an Agile project
· Project execution across time-zones and cultures
· Encouraging true Innovation and Collaboration
· Effective Internet tools
· Q&A
ome teams find it difficult to measure the success (or failure) of Agile projects. In many cases this is because the link between process and technology is absent and the right tools are not being used - or are not being used in the right way. In this presentation we will introduce Atlasssian products that bring agile reporting to life.

The concept of “shifting testing left” in the software development lifecycle is not new. Shifting testing from manual to automated and then upstream into engineering is a driving factor in DevOps and agile software development. However, Michael Nauman wonders why test automation, DevOps, and agile software development still frequently fail to deliver on their promises? Aligning and hardening your DevOps and test automation—along with streamlining your agile processes—is critical to your project. Michael shares how AutoCAD’s shifting testing left enabled improvements within their engineering team. Learn how the team increased engineering reliability and velocity, and forced process changes upstream into design and research all the way through to product support. Leave knowing why the concept of separation of concerns with regards to quality is as fundamental as the separation of code quality from product quality. Learn how the AutoCAD web team used process dogma and ruthless prioritization to combat metric idolatry and the host of other evils that hold teams back from fully realizing their potential and going beyond agile.

The Lean Startup Method and Its Value for TestersJosiah Renaudin
A startup is an organization created to deliver a new product or service under conditions of extreme uncertainty. Approximately 40 percent of all startups will cease operations with investors losing everything; 95 percent will fall short of their financial projections. And the number one cause of failure? No one wants to buy their product. Eric Ries, author of The Lean Startup, learned that under conditions of extreme uncertainty, classical management methods do not bring success. He formulated the Lean Startup Methodology based on his and others’ experiences. This methodology consists of five important ideas: (1) Build-Measure-Learn (BML) loop, (2) Minimum Viable Product (MVP), (3) Validated Learning, (4) Customer Development, and (5) One Metric That Matters. Lee Copeland believes these keys to the Lean Startup methodology have great value for testers. Come and discover how the BML loop is similar to exploratory testing, how the MVP idea suggests a Minimum Viable Set of Tests, how Customer Development suggests developing clients for your testing services, and more. Learn how to apply Lean Startup ideas in your testing organization.

Large-Scale Agile Test Automation Strategies in PracticeTechWell
After providing an introduction to several key agile testing concepts—including the Automation Triangle and the Test Automation Quadrants—Geoff Meyer discusses approaches to effectively deliver automated testing. Geoff shares practical insights and demonstrates how they were employed in the test automation strategies developed for several large-scale agile projects at Dell. He shows how the overall test strategy and implementation of each underlying agile concept was influenced by the realities of the project’s organization structure, application architecture, incumbent tools, and tester skillsets. Geoff explores the similarities of the projects from their common goals of establishing automated regression suites, achieving in-sprint automation, and test staffing approaches. More importantly, he delves into the implications of organizational structures and how they led to divergent approaches to test strategy from the choice of automation frameworks to the decisions to automate at the REST/SOAP-based API level or UI level.
The Three Pillars Approach to an Agile Testing StrategyTechWell
Far too often, organizations focus solely on the development teams and their technical practices as their agile adoption strategy. And then there’s the near constant focus on acquiring development tools. Often the testing activity and the testing teams are left behind in agile adoption, or even worse, they’re simply along for the ride. This is not an effective transformation strategy. Join experienced agile coach Bob Galen as he shares the Three Pillars framework for establishing a balanced strategic plan for quality and testing. The Three Pillars focus on development and test automation, testing practices, and collaboration activities that ensure you have a balanced approach to agile testing. Specifically, Bob explores risk-based testing, exploratory testing, paired collaboration around agile requirements, agile test design, and TDD-BDD-functional testing automation as tactics within a balanced framework. Leave with ideas to immediately initiate or re-tool a much more effective and balanced agile testing strategy.

From Project to Product - The Need for SpeedCprime
As we look to enhance our ways of working and shift from project-based methodologies to product thinking, it's easy to overlook the technical aspects of this change. Let's not make that mistake.
In this webinar, Cprime's Ken Robinson, and Anne, Chief Product Coach, delve into the technical aspects of switching from project to product. What does this mean for our engineers, testers, and product teams? Equally important, what does this mean to the health, resilience, and maneuverability of our codebases and environments?
We'll approach these topics across the following dimensions:
-Development - new product development as well as maintenance and enhancements
-Testing
-Delivery Lifecycle
Lastly, we'll bring it all together to illustrate how engineering for speed + quality and the concept of "total product ownership" reduces time to market, enhances product quality, and fuels maneuverability.

In software engineering, the right architecture is essential for robust, scalable platforms. Wix has undergone a pivotal shift from event sourcing to a CRUD-based model for its microservices. This talk will chart the course of this pivotal journey.
Event sourcing, which records state changes as immutable events, provided robust auditing and "time travel" debugging for Wix Stores' microservices. Despite its benefits, the complexity it introduced in state management slowed development. Wix responded by adopting a simpler, unified CRUD model. This talk will explore the challenges of event sourcing and the advantages of Wix's new "CRUD on steroids" approach, which streamlines API integration and domain event management while preserving data integrity and system resilience.
Participants will gain valuable insights into Wix's strategies for ensuring atomicity in database updates and event production, as well as caching, materialization, and performance optimization techniques within a distributed system.
Join us to discover how Wix has mastered the art of balancing simplicity and extensibility, and learn how the re-adoption of the modest CRUD has turbocharged their development velocity, resilience, and scalability in a high-growth environment.

First Steps with Globus Compute Multi-User EndpointsGlobus
In this presentation we will share our experiences around getting started with the Globus Compute multi-user endpoint. Working with the Pharmacology group at the University of Auckland, we have previously written an application using Globus Compute that can offload computationally expensive steps in the researcher's workflows, which they wish to manage from their familiar Windows environments, onto the NeSI (New Zealand eScience Infrastructure) cluster. Some of the challenges we have encountered were that each researcher had to set up and manage their own single-user globus compute endpoint and that the workloads had varying resource requirements (CPUs, memory and wall time) between different runs. We hope that the multi-user endpoint will help to address these challenges and share an update on our progress here.

Providing Globus Services to Users of JASMIN for Environmental Data AnalysisGlobus
JASMIN is the UK’s high-performance data analysis platform for environmental science, operated by STFC on behalf of the UK Natural Environment Research Council (NERC). In addition to its role in hosting the CEDA Archive (NERC’s long-term repository for climate, atmospheric science & Earth observation data in the UK), JASMIN provides a collaborative platform to a community of around 2,000 scientists in the UK and beyond, providing nearly 400 environmental science projects with working space, compute resources and tools to facilitate their work. High-performance data transfer into and out of JASMIN has always been a key feature, with many scientists bringing model outputs from supercomputers elsewhere in the UK, to analyse against observational or other model data in the CEDA Archive. A growing number of JASMIN users are now realising the benefits of using the Globus service to provide reliable and efficient data movement and other tasks in this and other contexts. Further use cases involve long-distance (intercontinental) transfers to and from JASMIN, and collecting results from a mobile atmospheric radar system, pushing data to JASMIN via a lightweight Globus deployment. We provide details of how Globus fits into our current infrastructure, our experience of the recent migration to GCSv5.4, and of our interest in developing use of the wider ecosystem of Globus services for the benefit of our user community.
