Temperature is a measure of the average kinetic energy of particles in an object or system. It describes how hot or cold something is. Heat is the transfer of thermal energy between objects due to a temperature difference. Heat flows spontaneously from hotter objects to colder objects, until both reach the same temperature and thermal equilibrium. When heat is added to or removed from an object, its temperature and internal energy change.
