 Generally, the definition of good teacher can
not be described.
 Why?
 Teachers can be :
- Extroverts or introverts
- different teachers have different strengths
and weakness
 Based on the interview, the student said :
“ I like the teacher who has his own personality
and doesn’t hide it from the students so he is
not only a teacher but a person as well-and it
comes through in the lesson.”
 Effective teacher personality is a blend
between who we really are, and who we are
as teachers. In other words, teaching is much
more than just ‘being ourselves’, however
much some students want to see the real
person. We have to be able to present a
professional face to the students which they
find both interesting and effective.
 Good teachers are able to absorb the
unexpected and to use it to their and the
students’ advantage.
 flexible enough
 teachers need to be able to ‘think on their
feet’ and act quickly and decisively at various
points in the lesson.
 Controller
 Prompters
 Assessors
 Resource
 Tutor
 A significant feature in the intrinsic
motivation of students will depend on their
perception of what the teacher thinks of
them, and how they are treated. It is no
surprise, therefore, to find that what many
people look for when they observe other
people’s lessons, is evidence of good rapport
between the teacher and the class.
1. Preparation
Prepare what we want to do in our class. We should
have thought in advance of what we are going to do
in our lesson.
2. Keeping Record
We should have administrative features that record
what student have done before.
3. Being reliable
Being a good or profesional teachers, we are not only
ask our student to do what we want but we need to
be guide.
“Practising what we preach”.
1. Managing classes
As a good teacher, we can manage our class surely means
that we can decide how the class will be run.
2. Matching task and groups
We should match the activities and topics in different
groups or classes, because different groups or classes
have their own interest.
3. Variety
Do some different activities to make the lesson become
interesting.
4. Destination
We should know what student will get from what they
have learnt.
Teacher must know about the subject they are
teaching (The English Language).
1.The Language System
Language teachers need to know how the
language works.This means having a
knowledge of the grammar system and
understanding the lexical system.
2. Materials and Resources
Teacher can find many material and resources in internet,
book, specially from grammar book and Monolingual
Learners Dictionary.
3. Classroom Equipment
Once upon a time we only had pens, board and chalk to
work with. But now, English teacher need modern
equipment like the tape recorder, the language
laboratory, video machines, the overhead projector,
computers, data projectors and interactive whiteboards.
4. Keeping Up to Date
English teacher must keeping up to date to know
development of English and technology which support
them.
>>
 Science
Teaching English is science. Understanding the
language system and finding the best ways to
explain it is some kind of a science, especially when
we continue to research its changes and evolution.
 Art
Teaching English is an art too. Sometimes, teacher
and students have discussed some of the key
requirements in creating such a rapport, yet behind
everything we have said lurks the possibility of
magic.
