We cut out the main image from the background using the lasso tool, chose a purple background color that represented the theme, then added the Channel 4 logo and text over the purple background to make it stand out.
Filming
Sophie Moran filmed various elements for her documentary about shoes over multiple locations and sessions. She captured vox pops by asking people in shopping areas about their favorite shoes, which took a long time due to many people declining to be filmed. She also filmed walking montages in a shopping center by placing the camera low to capture people's shoes as they walked. Several interviews were filmed, some requiring multiple takes or sessions to ensure adequate lighting, sound quality, and developed responses from interviewees. Cutaway footage showing shoes and related items was self-filmed to complement each interview.

My magazine is aimed at people who identify strongly with heavy metal music culture and lifestyle. It represents this social group by providing news, information and images related to their favorite metal bands and concerts, with a dark color scheme and design that conveys the style and attitude of metal music. The magazine also captures aspects of the metal lifestyle, such as the aggressive nature of live shows.
How the finished media product compare to the
The finished media product was much improved over the preliminary task. The preliminary task lacked layout and was poorly constructed, while the end product allowed the creator to design the magazine as intended through applying knowledge of music magazine codes and conventions learned. Overall, the experience taught about the small details needed to create a quality magazine product.
Technology used in producing my magazine
Sophie used Adobe Photoshop, Quark Xpress Passport, and an SLR digital camera to produce her magazine. She used Photoshop to create the front cover and learned how to edit images and add text effects. Quark Xpress was used for the contents page and double page spread, but Sophie found it more challenging to learn. The SLR camera was used to take high quality pictures for the magazine. Overall, the technology helped Sophie complete the magazine quickly and professionally.
