2. Types of Technology
• Desktop computers/Laptops
• I pads
• Wireless keyboards
• Active or Smart boards (otherwise known as interactive white
boards)
• Phones
3. Uses of Technology
• Instructional games
• Interactive problem solving
• Group sorting for projects or skill level
• Programs that supplement instruction such as Successmaker or
Myon reading
• Programs for higher level skills like Accelerated Reader or
Geosphere
4. Uses of Technology
We benefit from the use of technology in many ways. Students of
today use technology for playing games, texting, and chatting
through social sites. Many of them don't understand keyboard
functions, how to write a paper, or build charts and
graphs. Technology in classrooms is essential to student success.
5. Why use Technology?
Children that are visual learners and those that are hands on or
tactile learners can greatly benefit from seeing what they need to
know in pictures or images
They also can solve problems or manipulate images displayed on
interactive white boards
6. Why Use Technology?
• Technology has been shown to enhance the learning environment
in schools
• The important component of successful technology
implementation is the teacher knowing how to use it
• There are many types of technology out there for educators to
use that are both helpful and are even an added incentive for
kids when they finish their work
• Technology is also useful for those that have special needs and
require assistance in order to learn successfully
7. Considerations
• Not all types of technology are available for teachers to readily
use; however, there are many that can be downloaded for free
and used (provided one has district permission)
• It is important for teachers to continually brush up on their
technology skills in order to keep up with an ever changing
society
