The Principals role in the organizational chart is to manage, lead and ultimately decide
what happens on his/her campus. It is the principals’ responsibility to implement and
monitor the organizational chart. A principal must lead by example using technology
effectively and modeling best practices for parents, staff and students. The campus
principal must manage the budget and ensure that technology is a part of staff
development as well as student programs and campus improvement plans. Resources
must be available for teachers, students, staff and parents in order for effective
implementation to take place. Assessing whether implementation is effective or not will
need to include a variety of resources including yearly STaR chart data and PDAS
evaluations. Implementing, monitoring and assessing will make sure the needs of all
stakeholders are being met and that each campus is filled with 21st Century learners.

Week 4 Assignment, Part 2: Professional Development Planning
Using the campus and district improvement plans, and any suggested technology
improvements, develop professional development activities that include the following:
• Reference analysis and lessons learned about the technology needs from the Week 3
report;
• Addresses professional development designed to improve the gathering, analysis and use
of data from a variety of sources;
• Includes professional development to improve decision making in the integration of
technology with instructional and organizational leadership.
 The following professional development plan was developed according to
information gathered from several sources including campus STaR chart,
campus and district improvement plans/goals and Texas Long Range Plan for
Technology.
Every year our campus is required to submit the STaR chart by our campus principal to
see how we are implementing technology and if we are improving in our technology
know-how from year to year but it is not usually referenced again. Part of the problem is
that our teachers and staff have not been properly trained in analyzing the results and
what the implications of those results are. According to the data another area of
weakness is in integrating technology into TEKS with students working together to
evaluate information and analyze data in order to problem solve. Using online resources
that we already have regularly and then identifying on our campus exemplary uses of
technology in both staff and students is also a weak area. The district currently allocates
one staff development day to technology training but it is voluntary and even though it is
apart of the district improvement plan, very few teachers participate because it is usually
offered before “required” contract days. The following plan was developed with those
weaknesses in mind and the goal of improving students’ academic performance through
technology integration and recognition of best practices and leadership.

The technology action plan integrating instructional an organizational leadership must include
evaluation components that provide measurable outcomes designed to address the following:
• Uses data and other analysis from the Week 3 report, including using the campus and
district improvement plans, and local or state technology plans;
• Provides assessments and/or monitoring reports measuring professional development
designed to use technology to improve the gathering, analysis and use of data from a
variety of sources;
• Provides assessments and/or monitoring evaluating professional development to improve
decision making in the integration of technology with instructional and organizational
leadership.
While sifting through the various sources of data for the district it is obvious that
technology is definitely a priority. Our district goals have us implementing technology
whenever possible but the level of training that our current campus staff has is not able
to meet the current district technology goals. According to the STaR chart survey we
only reach target level for technology in one key area and that is Infrastructure for
Technology. In order to reach target in the other 3 areas there needs to be an increase
in training, implementation in the classroom and continued support of all stakeholders
including an increased amount of access available to more of our students, teachers,
staff and parents.
This action plan addresses the need for improvement in the areas of integrating
technology in classroom instruction and recognizing exemplary use of technology on
our campus. Our district updates its technology plan yearly and is constantly evaluating
and re-evaluating it based on state and national standards. As with any action plan it
will be an ongoing process that will change and grow as the needs of our district,
campus and students needs change. Utilizing several resources such as STaR chart,
Campus Improvement Plan, District Improvement Plan, AEIS, AYP and grade level PLC
reports to assess my action plan and keep it updated will be crucial. Making sure CIP
and District Improvement Goals are aligned will also take place at the beginning of each
school year. Training teachers on the purpose of the STaR chart and how it can be
used in their own classrooms will help with setting a purpose for integrating technology
into classroom instruction. Evaluation and monitoring will continually take place
throughout this plan by classroom walk throughs, PLC reports, SBDM reports, campus
staff meetings, campus blogs and PDAS evaluations. Additional support in either
professional development or digital hardware will be provided as needed.
