Tylenol Rebound: The Rise, Fall and Rise of TylenolSomak Ghosh
Tylenol Rebound, was presented on 11th march, 2015 in XIMB.
This presentation takes us through the Tylenol crisis that started with the deaths caused due to cyanide laced Tylenol capsules. It talks about the brilliance of Johnson and Johnson in handling the crisis through an approach that was candid, honest to God and heartfelt. They owned up, accepted total responsibility and carefully designed their repositioning - resulting in the ultimate gain of market share lost during the crisis.
This is the perfect example of how a company is to handle crises and use media to its advantage.
The PR team at Johnson and Johnson handled the crisis in a way that no company had ever imagined - a wonderful and empathetic promotional campaign, revolving around the inestimable value of human lives was ultimately successful in driving home the point that no matter what the circumstances are - honesty is always rewarded.

Presentation on Green Marketing and eco-friendly products|Can marketing reall...Kartik Mehta
Purpose
– The purpose of this paper is to analyse the impact of green marketing strategies on consumer purchasing patterns in Mauritius. The present research also explores the possibility of introducing greener patterns of consumption into contemporary lifestyles in the current context where green products are increasingly available.
Design/methodology/approach
– This paper reviews the theory of green marketing to identify how customers are persuaded to purchase greener products. It also reports the empirical results of a consumer survey on green marketing strategies by the questionnaire method. The survey questionnaires were administered to 150 respondents visiting various hypermarkets and supermarkets. The questionnaires were processed and analysed with the statistical programme SPSS, using descriptive, correlation and factor analysis.
Findings
– The findings provide some interesting clues regarding customers’ perceptions on environmental concerns and green products. Further findings suggest that most consumers have expressed a great interest in the protection of the environment and they are strongly concerned about the environment and its degradation. Hence, business executives should host workshops and seminars so as to educate customers on environmental protection and environmental‐friendly products. Results also indicated an overall positive correlation between effective green marketing strategies and customers’ purchasing patterns for green products. Therefore, there is a powerful urge for companies to promote green branding, eco‐labelling and green packaging strategies in order to encourage a greener pattern of consumption among consumers in Mauritius.
Practical implications
– The paper suggests a stepping approach to consumer purchasing patterns for greener products could be exploited more within consumer groups that have strong environmental concerns and beliefs in Mauritius. The results also offer precious knowledge on the effectiveness of green marketing strategies which can assist both private and public enterprises in developing and designing appealing green products that will be favoured by customers.
Originality/value
– Although green marketing has been an important research topic for several decades, hardly any research has been focused on the impact of green marketing strategies on consumer purchasing patterns in the context of developing countries. This paper has analysed the strength of environmental concerns and beliefs and has provided some insights on green marketing strategies and the various managerial implications have been fully addressed in order to favour the consumption of greener products in Mauritius.

BUSINESS SUSTAINABILITY 2
Business Sustainability
This is the management of the environmental, social and financial demand so
as to attain the ethical, responsible and on-going success of the company or
organization. Sustainability is generally where the company satisfies the demands of
the customers, workers and the environment so as to attain the success of the
organization.
Sustainability is geared by three main themes. These are ecology, society and
economy. Any company is supposed to satisfy the ecological needs of the
environment so as to maintain the success. This is because customers are not
attracted by an organization which is not concerned with the conservation of the
environment (Carroll & Buchholtz, 2014).
Society sustainability is where the company tries to satisfy the demands of the
consumers by giving the quality products. This is because consumers are attracted
to organizations which are producing quality products so as to satisfy their needs.
Economical sustainability is whereby the company comes up with strategies which
will help them to catch up with the growing economy of the country, and also observe
the prices of their products so that they may not be higher than the economical level
of the country. When prices are high the consumers tend to go to the competitors of
the organization who sell their products at a cheaper price.
Businesses define sustainability as the ability and process of satisfying the
needs of the consumers so as to attract more customers than their competitors.
They focus on ecology, society and economical sustainability (Carroll & Buchholtz,
2014). Companies tend to come up with campaigns for conservation of the
environment and production of environmental friendly products so as to attract

customers. For example, since 1990 Top Shelf Company was dominating the shoe
industry in the world. But by the year 2001, another company came up and started
producing shoes which would not pollute the environment. It was even found out that
Top Shelf used methods which were not environmental friendly. This reason led to
the new company competing with Top Shelf in the market and the sales of Top Shelf
started reducing. The other definition of sustainability by businesses is that they
satisfy the needs of their workers (society) hence increasing their production. For
example, it was noticed that Top Shelf paid their workers poorly hence leading to a
reduction in the number of sales. This is because customers are attracted to the
organizations which are observing the rights of the workers and consumers. Top
Shelf used to pay their workers poorly so as to reduce the cost of production but this
led to a decrease in the number of sales when a competitor company came up.
