rather than creating a purposeful, comprehensive plan to

TED-Ed offers multiple videos tied to all
content areas. Many videos come
prepared with questions students can
answer during the video with a
discussion component as well.
You can customize the questions to go
along with the video – just sign up for a
free account!
Lessons include videos for math,
science, the arts, literature and language,
social studies and more!
7. Skype for Education
Skype can really help break down the physical
barriers of the classroom.
From Virtual Field Trips to Skyping with NASA
astronauts, authors and more, our students can have
the opportunity to communicate globally.
9. Podcast Options
StoryCorps - Organization whose mission is to record, preserve, and share the
stories of Americans from all backgrounds and beliefs. They have lesson plans and
resources to help students gain empathy and understanding for people who are not
like themselves.
RadioLab - Radiolab is a show about curiosity. Where sound illuminates ideas, and
the boundaries blur between science, philosophy, and human experience. Find

BrainsON! - Brains On! is a science podcast for kids from MPR News and Southern
California Public Radio. We're serious about being curious.

11. The Learning Network by the New York
Times
The NYTimes has a variety of lesson plans for
teachers. Many of them center around their "Picture
of the Day"
These images can be used for writing prompts or
more in-depth content knowledge when used as an
aid. Critical thinking can shine with the right image
and questions!

12. Student Discovery Sets for Inquiry
Stations
Using the iBooks app on our iPads, your students
can participate in inquiry stations.
