This presentation was given May 3, 2013 at the Secondary Convention hosted by the Surrey Teachers Association. It is based on my first year experiences with Genius Hour (aka 20% time) in my Humanities 8 and English 10 classes. My process is still evolving and I encourage everyone to give it a try!
During CIDREE 2015 meeting, we presented the main results of some of our different works, highlighting specifically some important concepts and explaining how we believe they articulate with the Professional Vision.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

Although, little by little I have gained confidence in
the use of Google Hangouts, I have made small
mistakes regarding the use of platform tools (Today
I did not record I recorded the session). This is a very

the most is that I have a student of 63 years of age and
he is the smartest of the class, as it is said so old parrot

On the other hand, There is something that worries
me, the participation in group B8 has decreased,
today only 3 students attended. I think it is
advisable to look for fun alternatives and
motivational videos.

students are very motivated, and despite being a
group with a quite abnormal characterization card
(I say this for the ages of the participants that range
from 17 to 63 years old). You can also detail the
experience of some students because they have
attended English programs with other institutions,

Today, I was surprised to see that only one of my

that they were overworked or that there was no

Today the assistance in this group was massive, we
even added a new student, which is very good, but
nevertheless I think that when there are so many
staff sharing the same scenario no matter how
much you try to give participation to all, you realize
final that some students participate in smaller
amount, either by the quality in the service
(difficulties and audio and speed) or by the lack of
time to do it. I believe that for a more personalized
learning that encompasses the individual in all his
opportunities for expression, encounters with
fewer individuals are necessary.

forced me to improvise questions, activities on

Today the second part of the final exam was
applied, which was done by groups (3 members),
so I could observe in the attitude of my students,
this session was much more complicated than the
first one, because many of them stayed in silence in
some sessions of the exam, situations that worry
me, because when a teacher applies a test not only
their students are evaluated, but also the teacher;
The satisfaction of the achievement of students'
achievements is also an indicator of the quality of
the whole process.
