What is
Education?
“Education in its general sense is a
      form of learning in which
  knowledge, skills, and habits of a
group of people are transferred from
 one generation to the next through
   teaching, training, research, or
 simply through autodidacticism.” –

What is
Literacy?
The United Nations Educational,
 Scientific and Cultural Organization
     (UNESCO) defines literacy as
“the ability to identify, understand,
interpret, create, communicate and
compute, using printed and written
  materials associated with varying
              contexts…..
Literacy involves a continuum of
learning in enabling individuals to
   achieve their goals, to develop
  their knowledge and potential,
  and to participate fully in their
 community and wider society.”
Global Educational Scenario?




Countries fall into three broad categories based on their Education Index: high, medium, and
low human development. The 2007/2008 edition of the Human Development Report was
published on November 27, 2007; in Brasília, Brazil.
Global Educational Scenario?

the 9th Largest English Speaking Nation in
