Oral Communication in Early Language Learning Environment
1. Facilitator
We must do everything to make learning happen,
but without making it to easy.
2. Controller
E.g.: taking the CLASS REGISTER. This involves
standing at the front of the class and being clear.
3. Organiser
In order to set up an activity we should ENGAGE
students, give intructions and organise feedback.
4. Evidence
gatherer
We need to MONITOR and make notes of what
students say or do to provide feedback later.
5. Prompter
We offer words and prhases to help them to say
what they want.
6. Personal
Resource
We should be available to help them and answer
their questions.
7. Feedback
provider
We CORRECT student’s mistakes, make
comments and praise their efforts.
8. Editor
We respond their writings with comments,
questions and suggestions.
9. Tutors
We give them personal advice and information
about English and their work.
10. Input
provider
We must speak to them in ways that will help
their LANGUAGE ACQUISITION.
There is a term which describes the general role of
the teacher, SCAFFOLDING. It means supporting
the students until they are truly ready.
