คําสรรพนาม (Pronouns)
คําสรรพนาม (Pronouns) คือ คําที่ใชแทนคํานาม หรือใชแทนชื่อ สัตว สิ่งของ
สถานที่ ทั้งนี้ เพื่อมิใหตองพูดถึงชื่อคน สัตว สิ่งของ สถานที่นั้นซ้ํา ๆ
The Equator is an imaginary line around the middle of the earth. It divides
the earth into two equal parts.
Children should learn to respect other people. They need to learn how to
treat other people politely, including their playmates.
ประเภทของคําสรรพนาม
คําสรรพนามแบงเปน 6 ชนิด คือ
1. Personal Pronouns
2. Reflexive Pronouns
3. Demonstrative Pronouns
4. Relative Pronouns
5. Interrogative Pronouns
6. Indefinite Pronouns
1. Personal Pronouns ไดแก คําสรรพนามที่ใชแทนคน สัตว สิ่งของ สถานที่ ซึ่ง
แบงเปน
1.1 สรรพนามที่เปนประธาน (Subject Pronoun) ไดแก I, you, he, she, it,
they, we
1.2 สรรพนามที่เปนกรรม (Object Pronoun) ไดแก me, you, him, her, it,
them, us
1.3 คําสรรพนามแสดงความเปนเจาของ (Possessive Forms) ซึ่งแบงเปน
(1) Possessive Adjectives ทําหนาที่ขยายคํานามและแสดงการเปน
เจาของ เชน my, your, her, our
(2) Possessive Pronouns ทําหนาที่แทนคํานามที่ละไว ไมกลาวซ้ําอีก
เชน mine, yours, his, ours

ตัวอยาง
1. Jill has a part-time job. She works in a big restaurant.
2. I talk to him everyday.
3. A honeybee has two wings on each side of its body.
4. Collecting stamps is a hobby of mine.
5. Their test seems more difficult than ours.
2. Reflexive Pronouns คือ คําสรรพนามที่ลงทายดวย -self หรือ -selves ที่มี
ความหมายวา “ตัวเอง” เชน
I – myself we – ourselves
you – yourself you – yourselves
he – himself they – themselves
she – herself
it – itself
คํา Reflexive Pronouns ใชในกรณีตอไปนี้
2.1 เพื่อแสดงการเนนวาการกระทํานั้น เขาเปนผูทําเอง
The doctor himself gave the medicine.
2.2 เพื่อแสดงถึงการกระทําตอตนเอง
My sister bought herself a new evening-dress.
2.3 เมื่อใชตามหลังคําบุพบท by หมายถึง ตามลําพังหรือดวยตนเอง
He finished the thesis by himself.
Mary went home by herself.
3. 3. Demonstrative Pronouns คือ คําสรรพนามที่ใชแสดงความเฉพาะเจาะจง ใหรู
วาหมายถึง คนใด สิ่งใด บอกตําแหนงใกล-ไกลของคํานาม ไดแก คํา this, that, these,
those เชน
This car belongs to his manager.
Those king-cobras are dangerous animals.
4. Relative Pronouns คือ คําสรรพนามที่ใชแทนคํานามในอนุประโยคที่ซ้ํากับ
ประโยคหลัก ไดแก who, whom, whose, which, that
The police found the man who stole her money.
The woman whom you wanted to see was away.
That girl whose name I have forgotten is your student.
5. Interrogative Pronouns คือ สรรพนามที่ใชเมื่อตองการถามวา ใครหรือ สิ่งใด
เปนผูทํา หรือผูถูกทํา ไดแก who, whom, whose, which, that
Who ทําหนาที่เปนประธาน ใชแทนคน เชน
Who called you last night ?
Who is considered responsible if a student misbehaves ?
Whom ทําหนาที่เปนกรรม ใชแทนคน เชน
To whom did you give the book ?
Whom are you waiting for ? - My students.
Whose ใชแสดงความเปนเจาของ
Whose car is that ? It is Robert’s.
Which ใชแสดงวาเปนสิ่งไหน อันไหน คนไหน
Which factors promote motivation ?
- The teacher and the lesson.
Which dress is the cheapest ?
What ใชแทนสิ่งที่ไมใชคน สามารถทําหนาที่เปนประธานหรือกรรมได
What did the newspaper report yesterday ?
What is the chief export of Thailand ? - Rice.
6. Indefinite Pronouns คือ คําสรรพนามที่ใชกลาวโดยรวม ๆ ไมชี้เฉพาะเจาะจงถึง
คน สัตว สิ่งของหรือสถานที่ ซึ่งบางตัวจะเปนเอกพจนหรือพหูพจน หรือ เปนไดทั้งเอกพจน
และพหูพจน
6.1 Indefinite Pronoun ที่เปนเอกพจน ไดแก
- everyone someone no one
everybody somebody nobody
4. everything something nothing
- anyone each another
anybody neither one
anything either
Everybody knows what the education is.
Each player has five cards.
I heard someone fall from the tree.
No one passed the English test.
6.2 Indefinite Pronouns ที่เปนพหูพจน ไดแก both, many, several, ones,
few
Both restaurants are very expensive.
Many young boys drive too fast.
Doris isn’t very popular. She has few friends.
6.3 Indefinite Pronouns ที่เปนทั้งเอกพจนและพหูพจน ขึ้นอยูกับคํานามที่
ตามหลังมาในสวนขยาย ไดแก all of the (N + พหูพจน) + are
Some of (N + นับไมได) + is
None
All of the flowers in her florist’s are beautiful.
Some of this money is yours.
None of these books belong to me.
European countries often have separate secondary schools for
boy and for girls, but there are also co-education schools or
mixed schools for both boys and girls together. Some are
day schools but others are boarding schools.
