1) CQRS is an architectural pattern that separates read and write operations into different models. This allows for optimized read and write models and behaviors. 2) The basic CQRS architecture involves separating the read and write concerns into different layers - a thin read layer for optimized querying and presentation, a domain model for business logic and validation, and command handlers that process commands to enact changes. 3) CQRS does not require eventual consistency - the read and write models can be kept perfectly consistent through mechanisms like event sourcing that propagate write events to the read models.

Calico implements a Docker network plugin that provides routing and network policy for Docker containers. It uses profiles to represent each Docker network and apply access policies. Security can be implemented using Calico profiles alone or in conjunction with labels and global policy. When using labels, the --use-docker-networking-container-labels flag must be set. Calico also supports IP address management (IPAM) by using Docker subnets that match existing Calico IP pools.

It’s almost exactly five years since I powered up my first Raspberry Pi - a baffling 12th birthday present! In this talk I’ll share my 5 year coding journey from HTML & PHP via Node.js to (No)SQL and Docker. Along the way I’ll show some atrocious git commits, some awful hacks and some awesome projects. These include a containerised URL shortener, an instant food calorie calculator and an exam revision app that all really should have used Docker. I’ll go into detail on my latest Docker-based RPi cluster (inspired by Captain @AlexEllisUK) with it’s PiGlow load monitor and servo-based physical load detector. I’ll explain how Alex’s support and advocacy got me invited to DockerCon and give a demo of a Raspberry Pi-driven hardware gauge to monitor a Docker Swarm in real time.
