Take Home Mid Test
Subject: Curriculum and Syllabus Design
Answer the following questions.
This individual home work should be typed (computerized)
Submitted within the next day (October 31st, 2015)
Similar answer will be disqualified
1. Designing language curriculum should consist of sub-processes of the writing process
like gathering ideas, ordering ideas, ideas to text, reviewing, editing, etc. Explain what
you mean by this process
2. According to you what consideration that can be used to have vocabulary selection to be
included in planning language curriculum?
3. How useful are word lists such as those illustrated in Appendixes 1 and 2, chapter 1
today? (See Richards’ book on Curriculum development in language teaching)
4. Consider a teaching context that you are familiar with. What factors in the school or
institution create positive support for good teaching? What factors do not? Suggest three
changes that you think would improve the quality of teaching.
5. In designing language curriculum we have to consider some aspects that make teaching
effective. Explain what you mean by effective teaching!
6. In teaching a teacher may use either authentic or created material. What problems do
authentic materials have for teachers? And what the advantages of created materials?
7. Evaluation is one aspect in curriculum design. Explain the roles of evaluation in
curriculum design. What aspect is being evaluated?
8. What do you think the best ways to measure the effectiveness of language program?
Which ones do you think reasonable and attainable to the present condition in your
schools? And explain why?

This individual home work should be typed (computerized) Submitted within the next day (October 31st, 2015) Similar answer will be disqualified 1. Designing language curriculum should consist of sub-processes of the writing process like gathering ideas, ordering ideas, ideas to text, reviewing, editing, etc. Explain what you mean by this process 2. According to you what consideration that can be used to have vocabulary selection to be included in planning language curriculum? 3. How useful are word lists such as those illustrated in Appendixes 1 and 2, chapter 1 today? (See Richards’ book on Curriculum development in language teaching) 4. Consider a teaching context that you are familiar with. What factors in the school or institution create positive support for good teaching? What factors do not? Suggest three changes that you think would improve the quality of teaching. 5. In designing language curriculum we have to consider some aspects that make teaching effective. Explain what you mean by effective teaching! 6. In teaching a teacher may use either authentic or created material. What problems do authentic materials have for teachers? And what the advantages of created materials? 7. Evaluation is one aspect in curriculum design. Explain the roles of evaluation in curriculum design. What aspect is being evaluated? 8. What do you think the best ways to measure the effectiveness of language program? Which ones do you think reasonable and attainable to the present condition in your schools? And explain why? Good luck
