3. HISTORY OF TAJMAHAL
Taj was built in the 17th century. The
construction of the Taj commenced in 1631
and was completed in1653.
It was built by the Great Mogul Shah
Jahan in honor of Mumtaz Mahal, the love
of his life. Taj is Built on the banks of
the Yamuna River in Agra.

4. SHAH JAHAN
Shah Jahan (January 5, 1592–
January 22, 1666) was emperor
of the Mughal Empire in South
Asia from 1628 until 1658. He
was the fifth Mughal emperor
after Babur, Humayun, Akbar,
and Jahangir.

5. MUMTAZ BEGUM
Mumtaz Mahal (6
April 1593 – 17 June
1631) born
as Arjumand Banu
Begum in Agra ,as a
daughter of Abdul
Hasan Asaf Khan and
Banu Begum, and
was married at the
age of 19, on 10 May
1612, to Prince
Khurram, known
as Shah Jahan

6. THE LOVE STORY OF TAJ
It has been called the most beautiful
temple in the world, despite the fact
that it was built at the cost of much
human life. The Taj Mahal is a real
monument of one man's love for a
woman. The story is a sad one, told
many times. But it never hurts to tell it
again.

7. CONSTRUCTION OF TAJ
The Taj Mahal was constructed using materials from
all over Asia. Over 1,000 elephants were used to
transport building materials. The translucent white
marble was brought from Rajasthan, the jasper from
Punjab, jade and crystal from China. A labour force
of 20000 workers was recruited across northern
India

Workers were gathered from all over the
country (India) and central
Asia. The main architect was Isa Khan.
Shahjahan cut off the hands of
the workers after the completion of the Taj so
Mahal that no one would ever be
able to build such a marvelous monument
again.

10. OTHER STORY OF TAJ
This story has been challenged by
Professor P.N. Oak, author of Taj Mahal:
The True Story, who believes that the
whole world has been duped. He claims
that the Taj Mahal is not Queen Mumtaz
Mahal's tomb, but an ancient Hindu
temple palace of Lord Shiva (then known
as Tejo Mahalaya), worshipped by the
Rajputs of Agra city.

The grounds are open
from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
weekdays, except for
Friday when the
complex is open for
prayers at the mosque
between 12 p.m. and
2 p.m. The complex is
open for night viewing
on the day of the full
moon and two days
before and after.
