The goal was clearly to establish and symbolize higher education of Oman as modern entity. Ministry of Defence Pension Fund Headquarter Building, Muscat Corporate Headquarter Building for Ministry of Defence’s pension fund comprising of large public dealing hall, offices for managers, engineers, board room, multipurpose halls with sliding flooding partitions , data centre auditorium for 500 guests and masjid. The unique style of architecture to allow natural lights in all areas through large glazing also feature as landscaped inner court with wa- ter bodies and the masjid. This inner court as core concept in design acts as relief to Oman’s harsh climate through bringing in indirect day lights to all working & common areas. : : : Role Status Built up area 20,000 sqm Completed in 2013. Headquarter Building for Petroleum Development of Oman, Muscat This prestigious corporate headquarter building comprising of offices of the MD, Dy MDs , board room & various directorates was awarded to GEC in competition with other renowned consultants in town. This was challenging fast tracked project, designed and tendered for construction within 3 months. GEC’s structural engineers designed foundations uniquely by method of soil improvement by means of geo-grids to avoid piling being expensive & under few specialized agencies. The features of archi- tectural design are unique in terms of large office areas as staggered –offset squares with large glaz- ing viewing spectacular sea front; utilization of north lights to save in artificial lighting is note worthy sustainable aspect. The modern building with traditional touch accommodating 2000 plus staff was inaugurated by His majesty the sultan, and earned praises by all dignitaries and visitors. : : : Role Status Built up area 37,000 sqm Completed in 2010. Gulf Engineering Consultancy Head Quarter Building, Oman Head office for present employer Gulf Engineering Consultancy comprising of basement and three floors. The basement , ground floor , first floor & pent house accommodate dining/prayer/filing , reception general offices/conference , senior staff/conference/management and chairman’s/sec- retaries/accounts respectively. Oman Cultural Complex Principle designer is Architectural Studio of France. Youth centre stadium at Ibri This project venued celebration of national day in Ibri. The facilities comprises of stadium holding 25,000 people , Royal Stand , press boxes , football ground with high light masts , running track , practice courts & players’ accommodations were successfully completed in staging the celebra- tion to earn all around praises from Royal Court and Government of Oman. Close coordination with Oman TV to comply standard for night illumination of ground and achieving standard in Royal Box with Royal Court’s approval were two distinguished features of our achievement in this prestigious project. : : Role Status Completed in 1999. Parade Ground for Sultan’s Special Force This is another landmark project aimed to host celebration of national day in 2015 and later on was postponed to 2016. The project comprises of 200m x200m asphalted parade ground surrounded by Royal Stands , public stands , clock tower featuring client’s logo and illumination by high mast lights. This prestigious project was awarded to us with due consideration of past experience of success- ful services in Ibri Stadium and knowledge of illumination in compliance with Oman TV’s standard. : : : Role Status Built up area 7359 sqm Completed in 2014. AVIATION
Ras Al Hadd Airport In joint venture with PSMI (now WSP) our Canadian counterpart, the project started with feasibility & conceptual study for establishing green field airport with supporting facilities in near turtle sanctu- ary of Ras Al Hadd. Then Ministry of Transport and Communication required an international airport complaint to ICAO standard facilitating connectivity within Oman and with other countries. After phase-1 of site enabling package also phase-2 was recently designed and constructed for runway, taxiways, aprons , services , runway , PAPI ( precision approach path indicator) , apron lighting and CAT navigated landing system. Air Traffic Control Tower at Masirah and Thumrait for Royal Air Force of Oman The project was awarded by Ministry of Defence by virtue of our expertise & involvement in designing ATCT towers in regional airport at Ras Al Had and particularly at Adam being this project transfers hand from Ministry of Transport & Communication to Ministry of Defence. The present conditions of ATCT in existing airbases of Masirah and Thumrait are weary and therefore after completion of successful pre-contract services we are now engaged in supervision for new ATCTs. The building is important and is special for two aspects namely the Station Commander’s office with VIP waiting and construction of VCR (visual control room) by specialized manufacturer. The polygonal envelop of VCR cabin in harmony with stepped formation of the building is a challenging structural design as the entire roof is cantilevered from 4 rear columns for zero obstruction to visibilities of air traffic con- trollers (7 positions). The challenge in master planning in locating the tower building is enhanced due to need to control landing on 2 perpendicular runways. : : : Role Status Built up area 3400 sqm Completed in . Training Centre & Simulators for Oman Air, Muscat By virtue of expertise earned in designing & supervising Helicopter Facilities for Ministry of Defence we were awarded with this prestigious project by national carrier Oman Air. This specialized proj- ect comprises of training facilities as Simulators for pilots (motion types for Air Bus A330 & Boeing B737) & crews (CEET: Cabin Emergency Evacuation Trainer). The project was tendered and was on hold until now that the construction tender is awarded for commencement at site on De- cember 2016. This is a very specialized and sophisticated project in terms of coordination for all necessary environment & services with Simulator-Manufacturer the TRU SIM. We also look for- ward to challenges pertaining management & supervision in construction of the facilities in a fast tracked time period due to urgency of arrival of Sims under manufacture in Canada. : : : Role Status Built up area 6000 sqm Commencement at site on December 2016. International Maritime College of Oman, Sohar The project was awarded to us after winning an architectural design completion conducted through Oman Tender Board. This prestigious project was of high national importance being the first of its kind aiming to provide maritime education to students in the Gulf region and earned praise upon completion for its excellence in architectural design& building form. Main build- ing comprisies of simulators, ship engine room, work shops to offer maritime study courses along with hostel & sports facilities. Masirah Hospital This project in a remote location of Masirah is the only major health care facility for the population in the island. The hospital comprises of all geneal and specialized medical facilities plus very elabora- tive infrastructure (RO plant & Energy building) and housings to serve the community, outpatient and inpatient (40 beds expandable to 100) kinds supported with services connected with underground tunnel. Considering the remoteness and dependency on ferry services for all essentials to the island all facilities with back-ups in terms of storages & on premises accommodations were considered. Upon successful completion of the facilities GEC earned recognition and permanent position in Min- istry to be entrusted with large scaled hospital projects such as award of another hospital project recently in Madha, Governate of Mussandam. : : : Role Status Built up area 12,000 sq m Completed in 2013. Bone Marrow Transplant Centre at Sultan Qaboos University Hospital, Al Khod This is a specialty hospital in Sultan Qaboos University for patients suffering from diseases related to blood disorder and also those would undergo bone marrow transplantation. Upon award of the job our design team and client’s project team toured similar facility at Christian Medical College, Vel- lore in India and gathered data for compliance with highest standards for clean room application required for such specialty. The project comprises of OPD , sophisticated laboratories with GNP & elaborate blood bank, short & long stay wards with separate pediatric wing , step down wards after BMT and transplant rooms. Our proven track record in healthcare design with Ministry of Health and presence of designers for all disciplines under one roof was key factor in realizing the award of the prestigious project. After successful services in other healthcare projects and in parallel to the project of Genetic Centre, Ministry of Health entrusted us with design & supervision of this prestigious project that demanded meticulously important design of services for the laboratory equipments & need for compliance with highest standard of clean room applications. .The crucial consideration of our ap- pointment in this project as consultant was yet again the required expertise in healthcare design for all disciplines (architecture, structure, electrical, mechanical & plumbing / drainage) under one roof of GEC. Saden Al Hail Mixed Use Developments, Al Khod, Muscat During the economic boom that Oman has witnessed, perpetual effort has been made to develop infrastructure, and government effort has been made to enliven tourism by funding large projects and developing the real estate sector in the Sultanate. Al Madina Real Estate Company studied the idea of developing an area of 20,000 square metres, which follows with specifications that mix Arabic and Islamic architecture with the latest and best architectural styles. This is a mixed use development for a real estate company that comprises of serviced apartments (90 keys), residential apartments, retail facilities, recreational areas. All facilities are combined within the Al Hail Project—blacktop internal roads; modern instruments; quality communication services; entertainment facilities; stylish and luxurious buildings that ensure a happy life for dwellers. :: : : Role Status Built up area 101,250 sqm Partially constructed.     Ministry of DefencePension Fund Headquarter Building, Muscat Corporate Headquarter Building for Ministry of Defence’s pension fund comprising of large public dealing hall, offices for managers, engineers, board room, multipurpose halls with sliding flooding partitions , data centre auditorium for 500 guests and masjid. The unique style of architecture to allow natural lights in all areas through large glazing also feature as landscaped inner court with wa- ter bodies and the masjid.     Headquarter Building forPetroleum Development of Oman, Muscat This prestigious corporate headquarter building comprising of offices of the MD, Dy MDs , board room & various directorates was awarded to GEC in competition with other renowned consultants in town. This was challenging fast tracked project, designed and tendered for construction within 3 months. GEC’s structural engineers designed foundations uniquely by method of soil improvement by means of geo-grids to avoid piling being expensive & under few specialized agencies. The features of archi- tectural design are unique in terms of large office areas as staggered –offset squares with large glaz- ing viewing spectacular sea front; utilization of north lights to save in artificial lighting is note worthy sustainable aspect. The modern building with traditional touch accommodating 2000 plus staff was inaugurated by His majesty the sultan, and earned praises by all dignitaries and visitors. : : : Role Status Built up area 37,000 sqm Completed in 2010.     Ras Al HaddAirport In joint venture with PSMI (now WSP) our Canadian counterpart, the project started with feasibility & conceptual study for establishing green field airport with supporting facilities in near turtle sanctu- ary of Ras Al Hadd. Then Ministry of Transport and Communication required an international airport complaint to ICAO standard facilitating connectivity within Oman and with other countries. After phase-1 of site enabling package also phase-2 was recently designed and constructed for runway, taxiways, aprons , services , runway , PAPI ( precision approach path indicator) , apron lighting and CAT navigated landing system.     Air Traffic ControlTower at Masirah and Thumrait for Royal Air Force of Oman The project was awarded by Ministry of Defence by virtue of our expertise & involvement in designing ATCT towers in regional airport at Ras Al Had and particularly at Adam being this project transfers hand from Ministry of Transport & Communication to Ministry of Defence. The present conditions of ATCT in existing airbases of Masirah and Thumrait are weary and therefore after completion of successful pre-contract services we are now engaged in supervision for new ATCTs. The building is important and is special for two aspects namely the Station Commander’s office with VIP waiting and construction of VCR (visual control room) by specialized manufacturer. The polygonal envelop of VCR cabin in harmony with stepped formation of the building is a challenging structural design as the entire roof is cantilevered from 4 rear columns for zero obstruction to visibilities of air traffic con- trollers (7 positions).     Training Centre &Simulators for Oman Air, Muscat By virtue of expertise earned in designing & supervising Helicopter Facilities for Ministry of Defence we were awarded with this prestigious project by national carrier Oman Air. This specialized proj- ect comprises of training facilities as Simulators for pilots (motion types for Air Bus A330 & Boeing B737) & crews (CEET: Cabin Emergency Evacuation Trainer). The project was tendered and was on hold until now that the construction tender is awarded for commencement at site on De- cember 2016. The design is blend of tradi- tional and modern architecture representing shape of fort’s bastion ,a replica of Nizwah fort in the region.
