The document discusses sustainability strategies for competency-based education (CBE) programs. It describes how three community colleges integrated their CBE programs into existing college structures and processes to help ensure sustainability. This included incorporating CBE course development, student support, course delivery, and employer engagement into departments like online learning, academic affairs, and workforce development. Leveraging existing resources and collaborating across the college were emphasized as keys to building capacity and sustaining the programs after grant funding ends.

Developing digital skills for libraries and learning resource centresJisc
Speaker: Tracey Totty, library services manager, Middlesbrough College.
Having identified digital and IT skills as a weak area for most of the learning resource centre staff, last academic year Middlesbrough College developed a CPD programme.
It covered revising the basics of Office programs and learning new functions in them, looking at CreativeCommons and copyright-free resources, VLE training to help answer learner queries, screencasting, social media updates, doing MOOCs to help us understand what digital skills employers want, increasing their own skills, learning what to include in blended learning and to giving them an idea of what might be in their blended learning initiative and making better use of their OPAC and e-resources.

Presented at ISPILA 2007. WebQuests: Cool Ideas for e-Learning!
WebQuests are an inquiry-oriented activity that deals with central, open-ended questions, and can be created for adult learning and organizational development areas. Are you tired of having to constantly force your colleagues through training and development programs that you have worked hard to put together and people don’t even end up using? Imagine instead if you could create training and development programs so effective and engaging that participants and line managers can’t wait to go through and apply.
If you think about it, there is training that we all have experienced that is long-lasting. You have probably learned at some point in your life how to drive a car, swing a golf club, and even ski down a mountain. These are things we never forget. Why can’t business training be the same way?
Learn about the principles behind Training that Sticks, for example:
- How to create programs that are so engaging and practical that participants can’t wait to participate and try what they learn in the field;
- How to support participants in overcoming their challenges and sharing their successes; and
- How to create a self-sustaining community of continuous support among participants.
Building an Ecosystem of Strategic Partners for Applied Baccalaureate ProgramsAndy Orr
In 2017, technology startup Tapped Technologies partnered with BAS Software Development students at Green River College to develop a sports fan engagement platform, resulting in the business being able to pursue first-round investor funding and students being hired as software development interns. This is one of many strategic partnerships our BAS has formed with local businesses, non-profit organizations, large tech companies, neighboring colleges, and trade associations to provide students with opportunities for project- and work-based learning, while providing organizations access to local talent and the college with storytelling opportunities for program marketing. Learn how effective partnerships are formed and sustained.

Factors impacting the success in increasing adoption - Bill Ashraf, Strategic...Blackboard APAC
Institutions recognise how new technology can enhance the learning and teaching experience for staff and students. Increasingly they are looking to technology to support them in achieving their strategic goals. However, there are a range of obstacles to the adoption of technology that institutions must overcome. Change of any kind is daunting, particularly when dealing with long-established methods and systems. Success depends on shifting entrenched culture and attitudes. Join us as Bill shares practical tips, ideas, resources and real-life examples. We've built the story around six key characteristics required of a successful adoption project.

How to gather the right evidence to demonstrate the business value of learningDr. Regis P. Chasse, MBA
For many years, we could proudly report the cost of learning (cost per learning hour, the ratio of L&D professionals per 1000-employee, or how many people our high-priority programs reached); however, it was very difficult to demonstrate the actual value of learning to the business.
After years of focused efforts, we now use a pragmatic and cost-effective approach to measure the business impact of learning. This document covers:
• The pillars of our effectiveness evaluation framework
• Moving the conversation with stakeholders from cost to value
• Developing a pragmatic measurement approach for a learning program: challenges to expect and goals to set

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.

6. Assessing the project success:
1. Sustaining is not just a continuation of the grant
project – use your data to analyze what worked!
2. Conduct an assessment of successful grant implemented
activities that can and should be continued
3. Identify and develop those successful components and
insure they are consistent with the current conditions
in your organization for scalabiltiy
Sustaining

7. 1. Identify short and long term strategies
for your organization
2. Determine specific components that can
be sustained and scaled
3. Identify what resources are need to
sustain your project (e.g. additional
faculty, staff, space, etc.)
4. Develop buy-in among your strategic
partners who provide leveraged
resources and will continue in the future
5. Market the idea within your organization
