Leveraging the power of collaboration for a technology companyPrequate Advisory
From the year 2000, a massive shift occurred quietly to most, but daringly to a few. A few large organizations saw the change that was occurring. In 2007, when I was consulting with a large $Bn technology bellwether from my alma mater, I remember how this disruption, so new and so unique, was being viewed as the single largest transformation in the industry way before most of the world heard of this disruption. This arrived with the perfect storm co-created by cloud system deployment capabilities and the penetration of high speed internet. With these forces aligned, it created the SaaS disruption. It took 10 years though for its proliferation to be the product of choice for all industries. It uniquely positioned itself to productise systems and frameworks and create workflow environments which were hitherto accessible only toby the big companies at a fraction of the expense. It did something else which was more succinct though. Now companies were suddenly getting familiar with having open systems and integrations and allowing outsiders in – a fundamental shift in thinking which has changed everything.

The world of venture capital has seen huge changes over the past decade. Ten years ago there were fewer than
20 known unicorns in the US5
; there are now over 2006
. Annual investment of global venture capital has increased
more than fivefold over the same period, rising to $264 billion by 2019. This investment has been dominated by the
tech sector harnessing digital frontiers to disrupt traditional industries – including cloud computing, mobile apps,
marketplaces, data platforms, machine learning and deep tech.7
It is an ecosystem that acts as the birthplace for
innovation and brands that can shape the future of consumerism, sectors and markets.
As COVID-19 has taken hold of the
world, the question of whether venture
capital, and early stage investing more
broadly, is backing and scaling the
innovations our world really needs has
never been more pertinent. Life science
and biotech investing is an asset class
perhaps most resilient and relevant to
the short-term impact of COVID-19,
but there is another impact-critical
investment area that is emerging as
an increasingly important investment
frontier: climate tech.
This research represents a first-ofits-kind analysis of the state of global
climate tech investing. We define what
it is and show how this new frontier
of venture investing is becoming a
standout investing opportunity for the
2020s. Representing 6% of global
annual venture capital funding in 2019,
our analysis finds this segment has
grown over 3750% in absolute terms
since 2013. This is on the order of 3
times the growth rate of VC investment
into AI, during a time period renowned
for its uptick in AI investment.8
Looking forward can climate tech in the
2020s follow a similar journey to the
artificial intelligence (AI) investing boom
in the 2010s? The substantial rates of
growth seen in climate tech in the late
2010s, and the overarching need for
new transformational solutions across
multiple sectors of the economy,
suggests yes. The stage appears set
for an explosion of climate tech into the
mainstream investment and corporate
landscape in the decade ahead.
Zinc8 Energy Solutions: Getting de-risked and raised by a global network of c...Stephan Bogner
When some of the world´s brightest people and biggest companies unite, there must be an urgency to solve a bigger problem. In order to build a smarter, more sustainable future for the planet, a far-reaching multidisciplinary effort is needed to speed up the rate of greentech innovation together – and to finance the economies of the future.
Right now, there is an innovation-based industrial revolution going on to re-shape our world for the better.
Unfortunately, it´s happening too slow. Innovations and new technologies take too long to enter the market and to then scale in a meaningful way. Capital, capabilities (know-how) and connections are the greatest limiting factors.

World Economic Forum Young Global Leaders Sharing Economy Position Paper June...Collaborative Lab
This paper seeks to place the sharing economy on the global agenda for companies, governments, communities and entrepreneurs alike. It is presented by the WEF YGL Sharing Economy Working Group which is part of the Circular Economy Innovation and New Business Models Initiative.
The goal of this paper is to explain what the sharing economy is and why it holds potential, focusing on key principles, drivers, trends and models. It maps out critical factors and conditions required for access-based business models to scale up, and identifies both opportunities and possible challenges to their success. It also embeds the sharing economy within a larger context and movement focused on resource efficiency, sustainability, changing demographics and user behaviors.
The sharing economy represents one of several substantive investigations by the WEF community into new disruptive business models that are impacting industries, value chains and systems around the world. It is intended to serve as an input to future WEF summits, sessions and engagements focused on the future of business, cities, technology, demographic shifts and a variety of sector-specific verticals.
Coming up to ten years on from the 2007 Technology Futures programme we conducted for Shell, several people have been asking how well the expert perspectives have played out. This is the summary of two sets of weeklong discussions that took place in Bangalore and London, each of which included around 20 experts from across multiple disciplines all looking out 20 years at how technology may, or may not influence society. This was the second run of the Technology Futures programme after the initial project in 2004 where similar discussions had taken place in Amsterdam and Houston.
At a time when oil accounted for over a third of the world’s energy supply and renewables for less than a tenth of that amount, core areas of future focus were on the potential rise of biofuels, nuclear, solar, wind and wave as well as the challenges in enabling a more electric world. Specific issues raised included the opportunities from second and third generation biofuels and the role of synthetic organisms in the mix; pebble bed nuclear reactors and the potential for fusion; concentrated solar power, the increasing efficiency of photovoltaics and associated cost reductions; energy storage, battery power and superconductivity; hydrogen and microbial fuel cells; the impact of maglev trains, autonomous vehicles as well as data mining and quantum computing. Nearly ten years on the summaries of each of these, the likely development paths and the associated constraints and enabling factors are a recommended read.
Personally, however, it is the later chapters that are most insightful, especially in the context of today’s challenges. Whereas many of the energy related technology shifts have played out, largely in line with some of the expert expectations, it is some of cross-cutting views from 2007 that still seem to be at the fore of our to-do list: How to better collaborate globally and locally, especially across multi-sector partnerships; how to manage distributed activities better than centralised ones; how to better share value from intellectual property; and how best to harness artificial intelligence are all questions as relevant today as they were when we first held the discussions.
While we spend more of our time continuing to look forward, seeking new opportunities and challenges to address, if you have a spare hour or so, I would recommend a flick through the summary report which is available for download here.

Understanding User Needs and Satisfying ThemAggregage
https://www.productmanagementtoday.com/frs/26903918/understanding-user-needs-and-satisfying-them
We know we want to create products which our customers find to be valuable. Whether we label it as customer-centric or product-led depends on how long we've been doing product management. There are three challenges we face when doing this. The obvious challenge is figuring out what our users need; the non-obvious challenges are in creating a shared understanding of those needs and in sensing if what we're doing is meeting those needs.
In this webinar, we won't focus on the research methods for discovering user-needs. We will focus on synthesis of the needs we discover, communication and alignment tools, and how we operationalize addressing those needs.
Industry expert Scott Sehlhorst will:
• Introduce a taxonomy for user goals with real world examples
• Present the Onion Diagram, a tool for contextualizing task-level goals
• Illustrate how customer journey maps capture activity-level and task-level goals
• Demonstrate the best approach to selection and prioritization of user-goals to address
• Highlight the crucial benchmarks, observable changes, in ensuring fulfillment of customer needs

In the Adani-Hindenburg case, what is SEBI investigating.pptxAdani case
Adani SEBI investigation revealed that the latter had sought information from five foreign jurisdictions concerning the holdings of the firm’s foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) in relation to the alleged violations of the MPS Regulations. Nevertheless, the economic interest of the twelve FPIs based in tax haven jurisdictions still needs to be determined. The Adani Group firms classed these FPIs as public shareholders. According to Hindenburg, FPIs were used to get around regulatory standards.

2. Intel is the only company of these top leaders that has a CSR blog and demonstrates that
CSR or SD engagements can be discussed and can evolve within a Web 2.0 culture.
Some might think that discussing about environmental externalities and community
wealth is easier for an IT player than it is for a natural resource or heavy industrial player.
Other might think that it is just a question of time.
Countries that can guarantee energy availability, political stability and access to natural
resources are magnets for capital investments and growth. However, communities won’t
keep quiet if they believe it’s not worth it. Blogs and social networks tools are the new
natural channels to discuss openly about externalities linked to industrial and economic
development. Ten years ago, discussion groups were often the blind spots for large
corporations. Blogs have replaced them. An example of this new reality is how LNG
(Liquefied natural gas) terminal projects can be challenged by stakeholders and how
blogs are platforms to voice their preoccupation. The Tara Foundation uses its blog to
bring local concerns to the public domain.
“Residents fear Kerry LNG gas terminal will threaten their homes”
Up to 50 people living directly adjacent to the landbank between Tarbert and
Ballylongford came together at a public meeting in Tarbert on Thursday night, where
they presented their issues to two representatives of the Shannon LNG company, which is
behind the proposed gas terminal.
It is expected that a residents group in Tarbert, Count Kerry, will lodge a detailed
objection to An Bord Pleanála outlining their fears over the proposed LNG terminal. If
their objections are upheld and planning permission is refused, it could sound the death
knell for the multi-million euro project that is expected to create 650 jobs during
construction and 50 jobs when the plant is up and running”.
Could industry leaders, assessing risk and forgetting to take into consideration
community’s and stakeholders’ capabilities to team up virtually to discuss and evaluate
their value proposition be at risk?
