The group chose to save a female botanist scientist to make herbal remedies, a male lawyer to set up government, a male general doctor to deal with diseases, and a female engineering professor to set up infrastructures. They let a priest, married couple, pregnant woman and child, unstable army officer, elderly woman, disabled person, and lazy welfare recipient die as they did not see skills that would contribute to survival or saw potential issues like addiction, instability, age, disability or laziness getting in the way of productivity.

1. In our group, we chose to save the scientist, the lawyer, the doctor, and the university professor.
We made the scientist a female botanist who could make herbal remedies. The lawyer would be
male and would set up government. The doctor would be male and would be a general doctor
who could deal with a variety of diseases. The university professor would be female and be an
engineering professor to set up infrastructures. We let the priest, married couple, the pregnant
women and five year old girl, the army officer, the elderly woman, a disabled person, and the
lazy welfare dependent person die. We let the priest die for we did not see religion as a necessity
for survival. The married couple who are hippies and drug addicts, we thought their addiction
would get in the way of them being as productive as the others. A single pregnant women and
her child, we saw no real skills for her and her child that would be productive. An army officer
who is mentally unstable we found him to possibly be dangerous due to his instability. The
elderly woman we saw no useful talents or skills for her and also her age played in as a factor, as
well. The disabled person we thought would not be as productive as other members due to their
disability. The lazy welfare recipient we thought their laziness would get in the way of their
productivity.
