This paper surveys Cross-Language Information Retrieval (CLIR) and Machine Translation (MT) systems in the Marathi language, focusing on how these technologies help users retrieve information in their native language. It discusses different translation types, phases, and methods involved in the CLIR process, including query and document translation, as well as the integration of bilingual dictionaries and Part-of-Speech taggers. Additionally, the study highlights various research methodologies and projects aimed at improving information access and retrieval capabilities for non-English users in India.
