This document summarizes the EPCFind project which aims to create a mobile lost and found community using RFID technology. The project proposes that people can report lost or found items using their mobile phones to read the items' RFID tags. This information would be uploaded to a distributed network to allow tracing of items. An early prototype was developed using a Nokia E61i mobile phone equipped with an RFID reader. Initial feedback suggested people found the community and tracing aspects useful but had some privacy concerns. The system was designed to leverage the existing Electronic Product Code network for uniquely identifying and tracing items.
