We have all seen them, most of us have probably worked for them at times, leaders or organisations that are incapable of saying “Sorry, we got it wrong”. A close second is the highly qualified carefully presented half apology “We may have got it a little bit wrong but it really wasn’t our fault, but hey if it helps our position then we are a little bit sorry”.
Whether you are a leader or an organisation there are times when a real apology is essential. All too often this can be delayed for reasons of ego, legal worries or concerns about perception, but often the lack of apology or delay is far more damaging than coming out and admitting you got it wrong, maybe very wrong. So what are the benefits of coming out quickly and publicly and admitting “Sorry we were wrong” or “Sorry I was wrong”?

Community HealthCorps members work in federally qualified health centers and other organizations to help underserved communities access healthcare services. A study of over 2,800 Community HealthCorps members between 1995-2008 found that:
1) Members helped over 72,000 people each year gain access to health insurance and services and over 120,000 people improve their use of care.
2) Members provided health education to over 110,000 people annually through workshops and other activities.
3) Health center administrators saw Community HealthCorps members as having a very or somewhat significant positive impact on patient access, care continuity, and service delivery.

Border towns and spaces of (in)visibility.pdf
This report explores the significance of border towns and spaces for strengthening responses to young people on the move. In particular it explores the linkages of young people to local service centres with the aim of further developing service, protection, and support strategies for migrant children in border areas across the region. The report is based on a small-scale fieldwork study in the border towns of Chipata and Katete in Zambia conducted in July 2023. Border towns and spaces provide a rich source of information about issues related to the informal or irregular movement of young people across borders, including smuggling and trafficking. They can help build a picture of the nature and scope of the type of movement young migrants undertake and also the forms of protection available to them. Border towns and spaces also provide a lens through which we can better understand the vulnerabilities of young people on the move and, critically, the strategies they use to navigate challenges and access support.
The findings in this report highlight some of the key factors shaping the experiences and vulnerabilities of young people on the move – particularly their proximity to border spaces and how this affects the risks that they face. The report describes strategies that young people on the move employ to remain below the radar of visibility to state and non-state actors due to fear of arrest, detention, and deportation while also trying to keep themselves safe and access support in border towns. These strategies of (in)visibility provide a way to protect themselves yet at the same time also heighten some of the risks young people face as their vulnerabilities are not always recognised by those who could offer support.
In this report we show that the realities and challenges of life and migration in this region and in Zambia need to be better understood for support to be strengthened and tuned to meet the specific needs of young people on the move. This includes understanding the role of state and non-state stakeholders, the impact of laws and policies and, critically, the experiences of the young people themselves. We provide recommendations for immediate action, recommendations for programming to support young people on the move in the two towns that would reduce risk for young people in this area, and recommendations for longer term policy advocacy.

A longtime psychiatrist with more than 20 years of experience in Massachusetts, Antonio Bullon serves as the medical director of the geriatric and neuropsychiatry treatment unit at MetroWest Medical Center. Antonio Bullon is a member of the Peruvian American Medical Society, with whom he delivers psychiatric care to communities in the Ayacucho region of Peru. Established in 1973 by a group of Peruvian physicians, the Peruvian American Medical Society (PAMS) has completed more than 100 medical missions to locations throughout Peru. The organization’s mission trips rely on the efforts of volunteer medical professionals, ranging from doctors and nurses to dentists and paramedics. Together with local communities, PAMS offers a wide range of free medical services to communities in need.
