3. TRIPOD
• Tripods are used for both still and motion photography to prevent camera movement.
• They are necessary when slow-speed exposures are being made,
• when lenses of extreme focal length are used, as any camera movement while the shutter is open will produce a
blurred image.
• They reduce camera shake.
• A tripod helps produce very good framing of the image
• Tripods are also used as an alternative to C-Stands.
• They help steady the camera and this means that the camera will not be shaky which means that a better image or
video can be produced.
6. RAW
Why do I need to process a raw file?
Camera manufacturers usually supply raw software
with their SLR cameras , although third-party
software, such as Light room, Capture One Pro and
Adobe Camera Raw (part of Photoshop and
Photoshop Elements), is capable of impressive
results.
At the point a picture is taken, nothing.
JPEGs start out as raw files: it’s just that
the camera converts them into JPEGs
before saving them to the memory card
This means that all the image settings,
such as white balance, sharpening, colour
and contrast, are compressed into a JPEG.
Raw files can be edited than jpegs
JPEGs are 8-bit files, which means that
they hold less colour information than 12-
or 14-bit raw files. The colour starts to
break up more when editing a JPEG.
Raw files are much larger than JPEGs, so they
take up more room on a memory card. Using a
raw file means that the camera temporarily
stores images before copying them to the
memory card much faster than JPEGs.
raw files take longer to process this means
that people spend more time in front of a
computer than out taking pictures however the
processed image is worth it.
7. JPEG
• Jpeg stands for joint photographic group because that is the name of the group of people that made it.
• A jpeg is a compressed image file format.
•
• Jpegs are not limited to a certain amount of colour
• It is the best for compressing images
• When compressing a image some of the images quality is lost
• If the image is compressed too much the graphics turn into a block form
• Some of the detail gets lost
